I don't reply, and I'm grateful. I have no idea why I'm acting like everything is alright, but it's almost contagious to the part of me that wants to be angry.
I finish putting his comforter on, then step back and look at my boots which are filled with feathers. I look from Dagon to my feather-filled boots, and he says, "Burn them all in the entrance where you met Dixon. No one must know of the Slytherins existence."
I nod and then pick up my boots, and when I open his door, I feel his looming presence behind me. I swallow hard as I feel his blazing eyes, and my joy is diminished at him being angry at me for no reason I know of.
I head over to the ledges with Dagon right behind, then take the feathers out of my boots and lay them in the flames. They quickly leak smoke and then transform into ashes, and I look down at my nasty boots which are messed up from my crawling on the concrete. I pick them up and then put them in the fire, and I hear, "Why'd you do that?"
I look to him and sigh, not able to respond. He tilts his head sideways and then says, "Permission to speak, Jailynn."
"I got rid of them because I won't be needing them. I'll just be walking on cave until I die, so there is no need for shoes." I respond, completely emotionless, then walk past Dagon, in the direction of his room as I say, "I'll be heading back to wash your sheets."
"We don't have electricity here, so there's no washing machines. In the entrance, where you came from, we wash things there. Just don't disturb any of the male Slytherins who could be there. Instead of Slytherins having a mating season since we aren't just humans, we have an aggression season, where every single male is very agitated and on guard. The female's tend to be more fragile or as equally furious during this time." Dagon lectures me as I pause, wondering how on Earth I'm going to survive.
I nod with my head sideways so Dagon can see, and I go to grab his sheets. I feel my stomach growl in hunger as I lean over to grab Dagon's sheets that smell like midnight air, and I remember how hungry I am. I forgot to eat lunch this morning since I helped Brinx with school, and I rarely ever miss a meal. I shake my head as it had to be the day I wouldn't be eating for awhile, then pick up the sheets and hold them to my chest so I won't trip on their ends.
"Especially watch out for Huntly. He'll kill any human he can get his talons on." Dagon says, then adds, "Never mind. I'll tell them you have to be alive until you learn your true and real purpose here, before you die."
I nod and then walk out from Dagon's room, past the massive dining table though it's only for eight, and out to the entrance. I walk past the still-lit fire track, and spot a different male at the water, his wings tucked behind his back with his feet in the water. He has black spines in the middle of his white feathers, and as I walk past him, making sure to give him distance, I see that he has black hair coating his head, and hazel eyes with splashes of baby blue in them. He's hunched over but I can tell he's shorter than the other Slytherins. However, what he doesn't have in height, he has in lots of muscle as his shirt looks ready to rip.
"Jario, how're you doing?" Dagon's voice spurs me into action as I get into the water, my pants suctioning to my legs. I feel uncomfortable with getting my pants and the bottom of my shirt wet, but I have no say in this whatsoever. I can feel Dagon's heated gaze on me as I start washing his sheets, sinking their dark fabric into the water.
"Not too bad Dagon, and thanks for asking. But why on Earth is she still walking and breathing?" Jario's eyes lift to mine as I glance at him because of his words, and then quickly lower my head to keep away from any physical punishment.
"Because she's become my personal servant, and only until after the aggression season will we kill Jailynn. We'll do it then because we won't just be killing for pleasure, which is the mindset of a male Slytherin. We'll do it because we actually want to, when we have a bit of our sanity regained." Dagon replies coldly, and I swallow hard before putting Dagon's sheets over my shoulder, soaking the rest of my shirt. I'm just grateful it's not white at this instant.
