Within the hour the team were up in the air tracking the coordinates that had been sent. Allura had left Coran in change of the Castle while she piloted the blue lion, and he trailed it behind the paladins in their lions as they made quick work of the distance between them and the cargo ship.
Matt sat behind Pidge's chair, a computer screen placed in front of him as he carefully monitored it and the directions, along with tapping into the coms and conversations that the paladins were having with each other. He had to admit, he had some hope that this ship could have his father on it, even if it seemed childish or selfish to believe so. Then again, Voltron had only recently expanded their coalition that day, it might have just been a random Galra attack to try and undermine the coalition.
He bit his lip and leaned backwards in his seat. He could hope.
They wouldn't be near the planet for what appeared to be another hour, and during that time Matt mostly tabbed out of the coms and sat in his own state of mind, occasionally looking over his shoulder at his sister in admiration. Words couldn't explain how proud he was of her for managing to become a paladin, saving the universe and having her name known, while he was just another face among rebel fighters. That wasn't exactly a bad thing, he just couldn't help feeling overshadowed from time to time.
Matt must have gotten lost in his thoughts for a while because he found himself jolting up as Pidge grabbed his shoulder, shaking him, "Earth to Matt!?" She snapped, clicking her tongue as her brother sheepishly turned around to face her, a nervous smile on his face. Pidge mentally face-palmed and looked down at his equipment.
"I'm going to assume you didn't hear me, or any of the rest of the team yelling at you." She huffed and Matt shrugged an awkward apology. "I need you to activate cloaking, keep it up for as long as you're able to." Pidge explained to him before getting pulled back to her seat, muttering into her headset in reply to discussions between other members.
Just as Matt activated cloaking he felt the entire vessel suddenly shift, both him and Pidge groaning as the voices on the com grew louder and louder, turning into more frantic and panicked voices now. He could clearly hear Shiro screaming orders at the rest of the team as the green lion shuddered once more. Forcing himself up Matt looked over at the main panel of the lion, only to be met with an uneasy arrange of flashing colours, undoubtably from the Galra forces trying to take down the Voltron lions.
Though Pidge didn't appear to be fighting the Galra forces, instead dodging them and turning her lion into an almost nose-dive stance. Matt firmly grasped onto the back of her chair and winced. "Whoa, whoA-" He bit his tongue, screwing up his face as he watched the ground below them grow closer and closer. "Pidge what are you--" The green lion shook once more and Matt forced his eyes shut, bracing for impact.
Everything appeared to stop moving after that and the technician gingerly opened his eyes to Pidge's unamused expression inches away from his own. Pushing himself backwards he shook himself off, playfully sticking out his tongue at his sister. "What? As far as I knew you were trying to take me out." He huffed, grinning, "Wouldn't be the first assassination attempt today."
Pidge grumbled and grabbed his arm, pulling her brother up and tossing him his staff. "Did you really completely clock out on the trip here?" She raised an eyebrow, Matt responding by lifting up his hands in front of him.
Not bothered to deal with it right now Pidge walked past him and towards the exit of the ship. Dumfounded, Matt stood behind her, "So you're not going to explain what we're doing? C'mon Pidgeee," He kissed his lips as Pidge ignored him, too preoccupied with the coms. Finally she came to, shooting him a glance. "We need to be quick, we're getting the crew into the green lion and leaving." She crossed her arm. "There's too many of Zarkon's fleet here to try and save their ship." As Pidge began to explain Matt became even more confused.
