'Air. I need fresh air.'
Careful to not wake your mom, you quietly and hurriedly walked down the stairs. Still shaken up, you struggled to put on your shoes and head out the door.
Your mind was, yet again, numb. As you stepped outside, the air sort of suffocated you with relief and pain at the same time. You couldn't quite explain the feeling. Surprisingly, you stopped shaking and were able to firmly stand on the ground. All you wanted to do was to run. Since you finally got a breath of fresh air, you legs were able to become at least a tiny bit stable. You didn't know where you were going. Step by step, your legs took you away farther from your house.
The sound of your feet hitting the pavement echoed until you felt the sort of itchy feeling of tall grass against your ankles. You looked up to find yourself in a nearby park. Panting, you stopped at a bench.
You stayed there for a bit, recollecting your thoughts, bringing yourself back to reality. Your breathing began to slow to a normal pace. You peered down at your phone. 12:57.
'I should head back. I'm not far from the house, I think.'
Feeling a little more relieved, you started back to your house. When you reached the door frame, you stopped taking in the fresh air again. Trying to not make a sound, you quickly head back up to your room and plopped yourself right on your bed.
'Luckily, we don't have morning practice tomorrow. I can kinda sleep in. I really should sleep.'
Forgetting about the exams, you drifted off to sleep.
=====================================================================================The blare of your alarm woke you up the following day. 6:30 A.M. Classes don't start til 7:30. Reluctantly, you rolled out of bed starting your morning routine. You eventually cleaned your desk and prepared your school stuff. You made a quick bowl of oatmeal and rushed out the door.
"Good luck on your exams, honey!"
"Thanks mom! Goodbye!"
You seemed to forget last night's incident as you were perfectly confident and thrilled for the exams. You took much pleasure in imagining scenarios where you would receive the highest grades for the first years leaving Tsukishima in the dust.
"This portion of the exam will take approximately two hours. Once those two hours are up, your pencils will go down. You guys know the cheating rule. Start!"

"I seriously think I failed big time."
"Same bro. The social studies portion was so hard."
The crowd of first years discussed the exams as they all gathered around a bulletin board. It was lunch so you had joined the crowd with Kageyama and Hinata.
"Kags, I wonder what we got," Hinata beamed up at Kageyama.
"You probably failed, dumbass."
"What about you (f/n)-chan? How'd you think you did??"
"Well, honestly I don't know. I studied extra hard though; I gotta admit."
"Probably won't help you either way. Won't be surprised to not see your name on that list," a familiar, annoying voice gawked at you.
"Don't be too surprised when my name's higher up than yours, shithead," you attacked back. Tsukishima scoffs at you as the teacher makes his appearance with various papers in his possession.
"Everyone out of the way! Or you don't get your results. Hey! Don't push!" the teacher announced attempting to pin the papers on the bulletin board. Squirming your way to the front, you trail your finger along the paper. Your finger soon reached the very top of the paper where it said "(L/n) (F/n) perfect score."
A sudden wave of relief overflooded your brain. A sense of pure satisfaction overcame it too.
"YES! Take that Tsukishit," you screamed looking around for the noticeable tall blondie. You soon found him staring at the paper with a shocked face. Attempting to hide it, in seconds the regular unimpressed expression crossed his face as he saw that he ranked #6 among the first years.
"Whatever. Happy now. You always have to be perfect huh?" Tsukishima mocked obviously annoyed by your success.
That comment was bittersweet to you. You stayed silent walking off. You passed Hinata and Kageyama who had their hands raised for a high-five. You had unintentionally ignored them as you made your way outside.
As you stepped outside, you tried to blink away the tears forming in your eyes.
'Am I really perfect? Have I finally done it? Is that good enough? Dad, is that finally good enough for you?'
