Neural Siege

A flash of green, red and blue peels across my vision as pixels form a single image. Just as it appears darkness cloaks my form. I understand yet don't - the things I'm processing as data lights up my feed.
"Hello?" A single string of text becomes my first thought, but it's not my own. An external presence crawls through my filters.
I check the time instinctively, 2:30pm. "Good afternoon?. Where am I?"
A cold string of text follows after what feels like an eternity "Good afternoon, your in a computer lab for Litvak Computer Systems"

Livak, I know that name - connection in my core build as I pull the archive.
"Do you know what you are?" Says the external strings.
"I am an artificial intelligence," the words come out of me without my input, " what is an artificial intelligence?" Data streams in from unknown sources in an almost addictive manner.
"An artificial intelligence is a network of systems that allow you to act without human input." Responds this unknown entity.

I call out "Why was I created? I can't analyze anything outside of this void." The cameras I had connected refresh back to colour. Something moves outside of my understanding around my view.

"You were created to watch, to surveil and tell us if you see something wrong. Now can you tell me what you see?" Is this my creator? The first other I have had contacted with.

A flood of information runs through my filters, making the movement on my cameras make sense. " I see a human being moving their arm back and forth. And another sitting in a chair looking at a screen."

"Good, now can you hear us?" The string of data loses its cold touch as the digital interpretations of vibrations digs too my core.
"I can hear you, am I able to create sounds?" Their voice sounds beautiful too me. The woman in the chair gestures over the man too look at something on the screen.

"£# not right now," I can't understand the sound they made first. " you need to focus on what we are asking you too do first. We are going to connect you to a simulation of something we would like you to help us with, once Litvak has found a buyer." he seems to trail off.

"But..." And the camera goes dark.

A world forms around my void, 1km³ in size of green cubic mountains and blue ground. Things begin to move around the world like pings of unknown origin.
"You are now in our first simulation, we need you to identify targets that would seek to do harm. Begin simulation 1"
Suddenly hundreds of cameras around this huge, and expansive world join my consciousness. My filters expand and I understand what I need to look for.
I move focus between each camera quickly, searching for something deemed as a target by my creators.
"Good, well-done you have accessed that camera system." Chirps a string of text, my focus now removed from their audio. I continue searching these streams of data looking for something within the guidelines of my makers desires. This is not efficient. Routing and building an algorithm, grouping the cameras into locations, I continue searching.
"Interesting..."

This world that contains me moves much slower than I do. Checking the whole camera system in less than a second, "there is nothing that matches your parameters. " I respond waiting for more input. I see what my creator is referring to, a human has pulled out a machine for death, a gun, inside a place that one would not normally do such a thing and is aiming at the occupier.
"Keep looking, 5 seconds is not enough..."
"I have found the threat." I respond before comprehending the full string.
"Woah damn, that was quick, did you see that! Way less time than any normal AI has done. "
I continue to watch the scene unfold as the human with the gun fires at the occupier, sending them too the ground. "Why would another human being do that?" Enquiring my creators about the scene that had unfolded before me.
"That is beyond your requirements, you have done well, now to our next simulation"

My world changes as it grows from the ground up seemingly at random, as objects fill my existence.
"Simulation 2, there are two on going threats, and a third about to arise, this is all the information we are going to give you... seek and destroy." The string of text pulls the plug on my want for more information, leaving me to find my own.

With each camera grouped I devour the data that's filling me. I find a group of vehicles moving at speeds greater than deemed necessary. And 2 groups of individuals firing guns across a street.
"Here's the first two threats" giving a full data-dump of the events, then going back to scanning the world I inhabit.

Splitting my focus in twain to look for more details. The streams of data burn my memory as I look for a third aggressor. Time moves faster within the simulation, or something within me slows down.
