Ups and Downs

He jumped up and ran to the door as you made your way over. "Right this way madame," he jokingly said in a fake accent as he bowed and opened the door.

"Why thank you kind gentleman," you joked back as you walked outside. 

"It's kinda cold, do you want my jacket again?" Steven asked as he began to take it off.

"No, it's ok. You need it more than I do. Plus I have long sleeves on, so I'll be okay," you said as you continued walking. You didn't tell Steven the real reason. You were sensing a strong connection between Steven and Connie, and you were thinking that you wearing his jacket yesterday might have increased the tension. 

"If you're sure," he shrugged. "Hey, race ya to school."

You laughed. "Oh, you're on!" You both got in the same spot. "Ready, set, go!"

You started to run, but you heard Steven crack up laughing as he sped past you in a blur. You caught his idea and just let him burn out his energy as you casually walked to school with your hands in your pockets. When you got to the quad you saw Steven panting with his hands on his knees, looking around the area for you. Once you saw him, you ran over to him. "You little cheater. I should have known," you said, crossing your arms. 

"Oh, you know me. I HAD to (y/n)," Steven said in a sarcastic tone. "Now, c'mon. We're gonna be late."

You both walked in and parted ways.

You got up during class to go to the bathroom. You walked into the room being empty, which was good. You used the bathroom and as you were washing your hands, you thought about Steven and Connie. The more and more you thought about it, the more and more you questioned their relationship.

As Steven sat in his class, he thought about you and the scene that played out at lunch yesterday, as that hour was quickly approaching. he began to ask questions too. Were you scared of Connie? Why did she scare you? What was he missing?

At that moment, the whole room around you turned pink. Like, everything. You jumped back and fell to the floor. Suddenly, glowing white butterflies surrounded you and you closed your eyes tight.

Time stopped right in front of Steven's eyes. Everything was pink. He jumped up and ran out the door. What was going on? He caught a glimpse of a very familiar glowing butterfly floating down the hallway. "You! Come back!" he shouted as he ran after it.

You shuddered as you opened your eyes. You were, on your living room floor? But how? You glanced up to see Ryan on a rampage. You looked down slowly to see a familiar stage. Your eyes widened. You were back to the day when Ryan threw that picture at you. You were so lost. "R-Ryan s-stop!" 

Ryan turned to look at you then he held what appeared to be the same picture of Connie and Steven's friends that Steven had in his locker at you. You braced yourself for the impact but, the frame turned to butterflies as you screamed. You looked back up to be in a cloud of those same butterflies. They were swarming you. You got up and charged through them. You got out and suddenly a bunch of Connies appeared and they were coming to you.

Steven continued chasing the butterfly until it brought him to the bathroom. He saw a bright pink glow emitting from the door and a few butterflies coming out from underneath it. He kept trying to open the door, but it wouldn't budge.
