"Mother." Damian spoke distastefully, 'That was his mother? Why does everyone seem so high strung? Do they not get along? Is that why Damian doesn't mention her often?'

"Hello, Damian, Marinette." Damian tensed considerably at the mention of her name, something was obviously wrong with his mother visiting.

"Why so tense? I am not here to take you back- yet. I simply want to meet your girlfriend, is that so wrong?"

"I will not be going back, mother." Thalia rolled her eyes but seemed noticed that Damian was trying to make his way out of the room.

"What are you really doing here, Thalia?" Bruce asked, his voice cold and harsh.

"I just told you, beloved, in any case Damian finally made a good decision." Marinette was confused by that last statement.

"Mother, leave now." Damian seemed beyond upset, but he stopped. "What do you mean I made a 'good decision'?"

"You're courting a guardian! And the last one at that, think of the power those jewels possess! The possibilities are limitless, we could finally achieve the league's goals." Marinette tensed considerably, everyone else in the room fed off of her reaction.

"The miraculous were made for the good of all mankind, they are not to be used for personal gain." Marinette said pointedly, hidden behind Damian.

"That is the leagues goal, the good of all."

"Your goal is world domination through force and imposing your will upon others, don't act like you'd be doing anyone a favor." Damian spat.

"Our goal, Damian, whether you like it or not you are heir to the League of Assassins and when you take your rightful place as the demon head you and your hopefully soon to be betrothed will rule with an iron fist and lead the world into an age of prosperity." Marinette felt sick, everything suddenly clicked into place. She remembered how Damian refused to speak of his childhood, only saying he wasn't proud of it and how he was raised to be a leader. He always shut down when she asked about any other family. He said he'd changed, but Marinette assumed it was far more tame than what she was hearing.

'He grew up in an organization hellbent on ruling the world? He was the heir to said organization? What was he like before? Wait- demon spawn, demon head.' Marinette paled considerably.

Damian's P.O.V.

"-you and your hopefully soon to be betrothed will rule with an iron fist and lead the world into an age of prosperity." Damian stole a quick glance at Marinette, her face was ashen, her eyes boring into the back of Damian's head. Both teenagers look at Thalia as she took a step towards the middle of the room, equal distance from both doorways essentially blocking both exits.

"Why don't we sit?" Thalia said comfortably.

"Jason, Tim." Bruce said, the boys took it as their cue to leave likely going to sweep the manor and all of Gotham for any other uninvited guests. Jason glared at Thalia as they exited, Damian tried to get Marinette out with them but Thalia spoke.

"She leaves, she dies." The woman said simply, Marinette took her seat with Damian and Bruce defensively flanking her. Alfred stood behind them all, stoic as ever but clearly ready for anything.

Thalia sat across from them.

"Now, I understand that you two are courting. Is that correct?" Marinette nodded silently, Damian was almost relieved to see that she'd said yes.

"I expect a proposal and ceremony following league customs in the near future." Marinette involuntarily squeaked, looking at Thalia to see if she was serious.
