I hug him from behind, hiding my head on his back. I can feel the exact moment where it all connects. Who is he seeing and what Adrien is doing here.
He's gone before I can move. All I see is Adrien, who had been raised by Vincent fall to the ground once again. This time with Dylan on top of him, landing blow after blow.
I cry his name and so do the guys. Even Matt and Jared, that seemed bolted to the floor after seeing Lizzie and Adrien, are trying to tear them apart unsuccessfully. He doesn't seem to hear us, or maybe he just doesn't care.
I step closer to him and grab his hand, just as he's about to bring it down to beat his brother again.
"Dylan...Please. Please, stop." I'm not sure if he can understand what I'm saying through my tears, but I squeeze his hand.
He slowly raises his eyes to look at me, then looks at his brother. I can see the anger in his eyes, so I tug his hand again, making him fixate his eyes on me.
"Please." Slowly he nods and gets up.
"Take him outside to the guys. Then come back, we need to talk." He says to Vincent and when his friend nods he suddenly hugs me.
I hug him back, but he keeps me in his arms longer than what I expected, as if he is afraid I'll disappear.
I hear a cough and look over Dylan's shoulder to Matt, Jared and Vincent.
I try to step out of his embrace, but he refuses to let me go.
"Dylan. Let me go. We have to explain her to them."
"Don't you dare take even a step away from me." His serious voice makes me feel sad for what he must've gone thru, so I don't argue, I want to be here for him.
"I won't. But I have to at least turn around to talk to them."
He nods and loosened his grip.
I turn around and position me and Dylan so we can be facing Lizzie and the guys.
"Hey guys. Thank you for coming to help me." I smile at them. I have no idea what I would have done if they hadn't come.
"We didn't have much choice." Matt said but Jared elbows him in the guts.
"You are very welcome." Jared says ignoring Matt's grunts of pain.
"Are we going to pretend that isn't here?" Matt asks while he fearfully points at Lizzie.
She hasn't said anything during all this time.
"She's not a thing. Is a person." I correct him. I know is difficult for them to deal with this change in reality, but he could be more polite.
"What? I thought that maybe it, I mean she, was a robot or something." A robot? This guy is...something else.
"Why would a robot be in a tank of water, you idiot?" Jared says.
"Dude. If she isn't a robot that means that she's..."
"A mermaid. She's a mermaid, Matt." I complete for him.
"Of course she is..." He nods, it looks like he's trying really hard to think this is normal.
"Why does she look like you?" Vincent finally says something.
"Technically she looks like me." Lizzie chooses this moment to speak and all I hear is a shrinking sound coming from Matt.
"Mate, did you just scream like a little girl?" Jared laughs but is obvious that he's freaked out too. Vincent is the only one that is impossible to real.
