"And last but not least, Y/N you'll be working with Colby."

My head shot up as I heard my name being called and met the teacher's eyes briefly. Colby. My eyes scanned the room for him and when I finally found his mop of wavy hair I grinned. He was looking down at his lap, fumbling with his hands with slightly reddened cheeks. He looked up for a moment and met my gaze, and I gave him a quick smile before he looked away frantically.

I guess you could say people classified him as one of the "nerds" in the class. Other than the fact that he was incredibly smart and always had his nose stuck in a book, I couldn't understand why everyone made fun of him. He was actually pretty good looking. His chocolate brown curls always looked a bit disheveled but in a sexy way. He had thick, wide frames that covered his bright eyes, but I always thought he pulled them off nicely. The smile that I would rarely see was breathtaking, and along with it came a set of matching dimples. One of my weaknesses, for the record.

The shriek of the bell ripped me from my thoughts and I heard the teacher mumble something as everyone walked out. I gathered my books in my arms and kept my gaze on Colby, slinging my bag over my shoulder and timing everything just right, so that I would run into him on the way out the door.

Sure enough, as we both went to leave, we bumped shoulders. He looked down at me with wide eyes.

"I-I'm sorry, Y/N." I gave a light chuckle and walked out in front of him, turning around so that I could face him again.

"It's fine, Colby." I watched him closely as he looked down and fixed his glasses on the bridge of his nose, scrunching up his face a bit. I had to bite my lip to stop from smiling at how cute he was.

"So, about our project," I began walking again, and he scurried behind me to catch up and walk beside me. "I was thinking we should get started on it right away. So how about right after school?" I turned to look at him to see that he was already gazing at me, his bottom lip tucked between his teeth nervously.

"Y-yeah, after school is fine." He stuttered out.

"Yours or mine?"

He paused for a moment and shifted his books in his hands. "Um, my mum won't be home-,"

"Great. I'll meet you outside, then?"
His hair bounced as he nodded vigorously and I giggled once more, giving him a warm smile before heading off to my next class.

I heaved a heavy sigh as the last bell of the day rang and all but ran out the door. After saying goodbye to my friends and making a quick stop to my locker I walked outside, and sure enough, Colby was waiting for me, leaned up against the side of the car that I was not aware was his.

"I didn't know you had a car, Brock," I said with a smile as I approached him. His head shot up and he was careful not to look at me for too long before looking down at his car.

"Oh, um, yeah. I got it for my birthday last year." He murmured so quietly I almost couldn't hear him. I could tell he was unbelievably nervous around me, probably for a number of reasons. I wouldn't exactly embody myself as popular, but I definitely had a lot of friends and my fair share of boyfriends.

"S-should we go, then?" He asked feebly and I nodded.

The car ride there was quiet, apart from the soft lull of the radio and the gushes of wind coming in through the windows. When we arrived at his house he pulled into the empty driveway and got out, and I followed him as he walked up the path to his front door.

"We can work down here." I heard his
a smooth voice beside me and noticed that it was the first time he hadn't stuttered or hesitated while talking to me. I took this as a good sign and decided to bump up my confidence a bit.
