"I'd like that." I smiled softly and glanced down at my book in excitement that was on the verge of ripping out through the fabrics of my skin.
Peter just asked me out on a date!
(After school)
I stretched my arms over my head as I cracked my bones in the most relaxing way possible, feeling the joints repositioning themselves onto the right places.
Peter had left nearly two hours ago with a study Buddy of his who goes by the name Troy. He was sort of like Peter but much chubbier than Peter was. As a matter of fact, Peter might just be a walking skeleton.
Not in a bad way.
I stood up and walked to the shelves where I dropped off the book I was reading and hurried back to the desk to grab my bag whilst checking the time on my wrist watch.
It was just thirty minutes before the bus left me.
I hurried out the door, not wanting to run for it like the first day I had gotten here where I had to actually run and give up.
Being late wasn't in my nature.
"Riley!" I heard a voice call from somewhere, probably Ash's voice and I did not really want to be listening to that. "Dove!"
Oh really!?
I stopped and clenched my teeth as I heard his footsteps getting closer with each thud on the ground.
"Where are you going?" He asked as he stopped in front of me and glanced down with a smirk on his face. "I thought I always give you the ride?"
"Wipe that orange lipstick, then we can talk." I pointed out at the orange smudge on his left cheek just close to his lips.
His face turned slightly pink as he blushed and reached up to wipe off the lipstick in embarrassment. I stared at him closely and it wasn't just on his cheek, also around his face and neck I think. He must have tried to rub it off but it instead tinted his skin orange. It wasn't just an orange lipstick, I would spot a few red patches here and there and those weren't love bites. It was another lipstick.
Must be the two girls Peter was talking about.
"You must have had fun with Rosetta and Opera." I said and he paused in shock as he shot me a surprised gaze through his taunting blue eyes.
Now I see why girls fall for him the minute he stares at them. His eyes were just too addictive to look at.
I wouldn't be surprised if he really wasn't a virgin.
However, I would be angry because he lied.
"Who told you I was with those two?" He asked and I rolled my eyes slightly.
"Peter." I said without hesitation. "I wasn't at all surprised taking that that's just you being you."
"What does that supposed to mean?" He asked as I noticed him tense.
"You being you?" I asked and glanced up at the sky as I pretended to think. "Well, you're just being you. Being the playboy and running up girl's legs to get to what's inside their skirts. I'm not surprised you'd stoop so low. As a matter of fact, I'm impressed you actually made me believe your lies." I said then frowned as I locked eyes with him. "Of all things, I was actually starting to like you."
".... I... It doesn't... Sh**." He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair and glanced at the ground in defeat. "But I wasn't lying about me really liking you Riley... I really do." He said as he moved from his spot and stood in front of me.
"Is that what you tell Opera too?" I asked as I took a step back from him. "That you like her?"
"I don't tell them anything..." He sighed and bit on his lower lip for a moment, staring at the ground. "Riley... I'm serious about you. I love you."
"Oh. I know." I nodded as I crossed my arms over my chest. "I'm not good enough for you. I'm not letting you touch me the way those girls let you so you find me a bit boring and you'd rather 'cheat' on me instead. It's fine, it's natural to numb skulls like you. By the way, it's not like we were dating, so you're free to do what you want without me. I don't want you to touch me in any way again. I'm not your toy." I deadpanned and circled around him as I walked to the bus station.
"Riley... You're not .... Anyone's toy I get it. But I never treated you like one and you're perfectly enough for anyone. Just.... please don't go." He whispered and I glanced over my shoulder at him, only to notice him frown deeply.
"Ash, let me be honest with you," I started as I stopped walking and turned to face him fully. "I don't like people who lie. How could you like someone so much then go the next day and play around with as much girls as possible?" I asked and before he could answer, I raised up a finger. "If I don't like those type of people. It simply means I don't like you anymore."
"Riley-"
"For a moment I actually thought you were different." I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "Are you even a real virgin? Or by that did you mean that you hadn't had it in a long time?"
"I was serious." He replied strongly. "I was being genuinely serious. I am."
"People say you aren't." I said as I clenched my teeth, cursing myself for actually believing a lie.
"They don't know the truth." He said. "I didn't sleep with Opera or the other one."
"Don't make me believe they were just up for a kiss." I rolled my eyes and he bit his lower lip and looked away.
"No... I uh... Gave it to them in the other way-"
"I really can't believe you kissed me with those lips." I gaged and turned for the bus station as I glanced down at my watch.
Five minutes before it arrives. Speak of the devil, there it was.
"Not like that!" He yelled behind me. "Riley!"
"I can get my own ride from now on!" I yelled back and finally got to the bus in time. I checked in and got myself sited by the window.
I guess I would expect something like this from him.
But... Why does it suddenly hurt me?
What other reason is there?
He really did make me feel special.
When I was just another toy to him.
