You walked up and around town, just taking in some fresh air and your surroundings before going to your house. You had been coming up with a plan all day. You were going to go home after you cleared your head and see if Ryan was home. It had been a few days and you were getting more worried about him. If he was home, you were going to actually try talking to him, but if that didn't work you were just going to bolt off to Steven's. If he wasn't home, you had settled on grabbing a bunch of your stuff and staying at Steven's for the next couple of days. He certainly didn't seem to mind. You could tell he liked you, but you weren't 100% sure. 

You recalled last night when you were trying to get your memory back. You felt awful for lying to Steven when you told him you 'remembered everything'. For some reason, you could barely piece together the events from last night when you were controlled. You did remember Steven's face when you risked kissing his cheek in the sky. He blushed,oh my gosh that was it. He HAD to like you for sure. You shook the thought out of your head so you could focus on your mission as you approached your house. 

Ryan's car wasn't there, but that wasn't a complete red flag. You unlocked the door and walked in. Nothing. Of course. Maybe another day, just maybe. You went to your room and grabbed almost everything out of your closet and drawers that you still wore often. You shoved all of it in a few bags and grabbed a few other essentials before heading back to the door. Before leaving, you wrote a note explaining where you were and that you were okay and placed it on the counter for Ryan to see if he ever came back. Then, you went outside with all your things, locked the door, then headed out. 

As soon as you approached the house, you could tell it seemed vacant. The gems must have had a mission to go on. You trudged all of your things up the staircase to the front door. You lightly kicked the door open and held it open with your ankle as you threw all your bags into the house. You barely made the last one inside as you slid inside with it and leaned on the door in exhaustion as it closed. 

"Phew," you sighed before going to the kitchen to get some water. At this point it was getting late, but of course since you and Steven had slept in so late, you weren't tired. You figured it was probably a good idea to just pull an all-nighter so you were actually tired for the next night. You rummaged around in the cabinet to try to find some popcorn to watch a movie. You almost jumped when you heard the gems' door open. 

"Oh, hello (Y/N). You're back!" It was Pearl.

"Hi Pearl. Yeah, just went for a walk then grabbed some of my things from my place," you motioned toward the stack of bags. 

"Ah, I see. Are you doing alright from last night?" You flinched as Pearl asked the one question you weren't up to discuss. "(Y/N)?"

You sighed. "Pearl, can I tell you something?"

Pearl's expression be came very worried. "Yes, of course (Y/N)? What's wrong?"

"I feel awful. I lied to Steven about remembering 'everything'. The truth is, I don't remember  anything from before I gained back my control. I-I just don't know how I'm going to tell him. He seemed so happy I got my memory back." You ran your hands through your hair as you leaned your elbows on the table. Pearl let out a small gasp and she walked over to you. You looked up at her.

"(Y/N), I don't know if you should tell him. He'll be devastated. He told Amethyst that he kissed you to break Howlite's control. It seemed like it meant everything to him," Pearl said as she took your hand.

"Oh my gosh, he'd kill someone if he found out. I feel awful," you said as you wiped your eyes. "Pearl, I'd hate to ask you guys to keep a secret but can we maybe not tell him? I just, I'd hate to see him upset." Pearl nodded in agreement as you took a deep breath in and out to calm your nerves. That calm feeling didn't stay long however because just then, Steven walked in the door. "GAHHH," you screamed and jumped back.
