Tension

"(Y/N)! Listen to me! You have GOT to calm down. Panicking isn't going to do you any good! Just stop the movie and sit him down. You have to have a heart-to-heart conversation with him or this is never going to work!" She looked you straight in the eyes and gave you a reassuring look. "You've got this." You nodded and shakily left her room. You crept your way up the stairs as quietly as possible. You peeked in the door and saw Steven pacing around the room, his face showing a look that seemed to be a mix of frustration and worry. 

You could hear him mumbling to himself. "Did I do something wrong?" "Does she hate me?" "I don't understand." You cleared your throat and as soon as you did, Steven's head whipped around to face the door. "(Y-Y/N)? Are you alright? I-" you stopped him as he ran to hug you.

"Steven, we have to talk." you said. You walked over to his bed and sat down. You patted the spot next to you. Steven made his way over to you and sat down. You stared at your hands in your lap and sighed. "So, remember when we were getting my memory back and I told you I remembered everything?" You looked at him and he nodded. You took his hand. "I was wrong. I don't remember anything from when I was controlled. The first thing I remember from that part of the night was waking up on the floor of that cave. Pearl told me that we, um, kissed and I don't remember it." You gulped. Steven began to glow a faint pink and rested his head in his hands and leaned onto his knees. You rubbed his back to calm him down. "But, I just feel like you deserve to know because I feel like a horrible person (he sat back up and looked at you when you said this) for not telling you and I just didn't know how to tell you. I kinda freaked out when you started like doing all this romantic stuff just because I didn't know. All I remembered was me kissing your cheek on the roof and I didn't realize how much both kisses meant to you, and what I'm trying to say is I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. You just seemed so happy and-" you were stopped when a very teary-eyes Steven gave you the most affectionate hug you had ever felt. 

"(Y/N)," was all he could muster up. He was too busy sobbing. You ended up joining him as you hugged him back.

"Are-are you upset? I'm really sorry Steven-" he hugged you tighter. 

"No, just at myself. I should have paid more attention or checked that you were okay. I wasn't thinking and I just-"

"Steven, do not blame this on yourself. You had nothing to do with it. The good thing is I know about it now! I couldn't bare to go on without telling you the truth. I may not remember most of it, but I've started to remember some of it, and what matters is that it did happen," you said as you pulled away. 

Steven wiped his eyes and a small smile began to come back to his face. "You know what else happened that night?"

You giggled. "What?"

Steven laid down on his bed and looked up at the ceiling like he was daydreaming. You laid down next to him. "I told you that I loved you. I thought that you kissing me later that night proved you loved me too. So my question is, do you?" He faced you as he awaited your response. You turned and faced him.

"Does this answer your question?" and then it happened. You kissed him, except this time it wasn't on the cheek. It was passionate and full of your feelings for one another. You held on to his back and he held your waist as you both began to sit up. Once you were upright, he cupped your face in his hands and you ran you fingers through his hair. 

*STEVEN'S POV*

Best night of my life. I pulled away from the kiss just to look at her. She was so beautiful. I swear I'm the luckiest guy in the galaxy. She looked up at me, our foreheads touching. "(Y-Y/N)? Can I ask you something?" She nodded, still as pink as my gem. "Will you be my girlfriend?" Her face then went tomato red, and I could even see her eyes begin to get glossy.

"Of course Steven," she said before kissing me again. I never wanted to leave this moment. Everything felt perfect. She pulled away and gave me a big hug. Of course, since we slept so late, we weren't tired even though the sun was just rising for the day ahead. We both walked out to the balcony to watch the sun rise. I was so happy my mind was barely even present when she went to lean on me. I didn't catch my balance and we both toppled over onto the floor of the balcony. "Oh come on, what was that all about?"

"What do you mean?" she sarcastically said and laughed.

"I can't believe you sometimes (Y/N)," I chuckled.

"Oh wowww, " she said ruffling the curls on my head, then smiling.

"Gah! Stop! This is unfair! You're too adorable! I'll never win!" I said, feeling the red on my face.

"Then I guess I have my title as the reigning champion of making my boyfriend blush," she laughed. 

"Not if I find a way to take it back!" I said I smirked. Once she realized it, it was too late. I started ticking her and she began to laugh uncontrollably.

"Steven! S-stop!" she managed to say between giggles.

"Not until you say I win!"

"Never!"

"Then I'll just keep going!"

"Ugh fine! You win!" she said as I let her go. She was still laughing. "C'mon, lets go get some breakfast you knucklehead." I smiled at her before grabbing her hand and walking to the kitchen.
