Kara chased after the Steve blindly, shouting apologies to all the people either of them ran into. Sliding a few inches in the mud, she finally caught up to him. She shoved his sketchbook into his chest frustratedly.

His being taller than her made him faster than her.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?" She scowled as he threw his duffle bag into the back of a Jeep. Steve turned to her, holding onto the edge of the jeep. Kara huffed sharply at the kicked puppy like look on his face. "He's not here, is he?"

He only shook his head.

She was going to have a long conversation with Philips. He could have warned her Barnes was a POW. Kara could only imagine what HYDRA was doing to all of them.

"Do you know where we're going?"

Steve turned around to face her fully, his face going blank. "You're not coming," he stated firmly. He carefully pressed against the side of the jeep, intent to keep this quiet. Kara only arched a brow and leaned back an inch.

"The hell I am," she answered. She easily scanned over the rest of the base. Very few milled about around them and those that were didn't spare them a glance.

A small smile crossed her lips as she watched everybody barely look their way. A group brushed past them at a jog, unaware that either of them were even speaking. So, he had picked up a few things from her.

Good. If he could go without being noticed then he would do better in the field. He wouldn't need to engage with nearly as many agents. It made the panic at her sternum lighten. She could leave him in a group and not come back to him spread out blood eagle.

Part of her hoped they could keep his identity hidden from Schmidt. He would be able to slip into HYDRA bases if no one knew what he looked like. If Schmidt found out, Steve's face would be plastered across every wall they could find.

Still, he hadn't yet seen combat. He hadn't had a reason to use his training against anything but a training dummy.

Kara pulled in a deep breath, speaking entirely under her breath. "You don't have the experience for me to feel comfortable with you going in alone."

"And I don't feel comfortable putting you in danger when it isn't necessary," he shot back, though a small, fake smile spread across his face.

Spinning on her heel, Kara gave him a pointed look and disappeared into an empty tent. Steve clenched his jaw but followed after her.
