It had been a week in a half since I had gone to Charming and had an oil change and my lunch date with Chibs. I wasn't sure what had happened, I thought everything had gone well but I guess it hadn't. Chibs had not come back to the club since the day that we had lunch together, and I was starting to think I had done something wrong.
I returned to my normal schedule, dancing the some nights and working the business side of things the rest of the week. Bethany, my right hand girl, had noticed the change in my mood and had taken to asking me about it as well as watching me closely throughout the week. Even though I had told her already that I didn't want to talk about it. Being the good friend and co-worker that she is, she still persisted in trying to get me back into a good mood.
Tonight I wasn't dancing, I would be working the business side of the club; so that meant I would be spending a majority of the night confined to my office filling out paperwork.
I could hear the music playing loud, and the occasionally cheering whenever a song and dance had ended. Every so often, when she herself was not on stage, Bethany had come to check in and bring me a drink- knowing that I would be too busy to get one myself. The girl was always looking out for me and that is exactly why I trust her enough to be my right hand girl.
Groaning, I reached up and ran my fingers through my tangled, hair spray riddled hair. The greasy strands tangled around my fingers and I just hung my head in my hands, not wanting to move. I was at a point of giving up, not wanting to read anymore paperwork, or pay anymore bills.
We had gotten a large alcohol delivery today, and even though what all had been delivered was correct now that I was looking over the paperwork something seemed wrong. I just couldn't pinpoint what it was. And I had officially been looking at these papers for almost three hours. It was driving me insane. The worst part about it, was this had been the first order I allowed Bethany to make on her own, and I'm in no way saying that she had done something wrong; because it could in fact have been whomever took the order or just a misprint; but whatever it was I needed to find it.
Once more I could hear the music change in the main room of the club. The frustration continued to build up. So much in fact, that upon hearing a knock on my office door I could not stop myself from grabbing the glass off of my desk and hurdling it at the wall.
Slowly, the door peaked open and Bethany stuck her head inside. "I-I'm sorry, I know you're busy and super stressed but there's some guy out at the bar looking for you. " I knew she had heard the glass shatter and it must have worried or scared her; but upon hearing that there was someone at the bar for me I couldn't stop my heart from beating faster in my chest at the thought that it could be Chibs out there. "Thank you, B, I'll be right out." I didn't dare look up from my desk until she had closed the door.
As soon as I heard the latch click closed, I shot up to my feet and went over to the mirror hanging on the wall. I used it to straighten out my shirt, check my make-up, and be sure that my hair was all pushed back out of my face. Then I took a deep breath in before making my way out of the office and down the small hallway to the bar.
The music continued to get louder the closer I got, as well as the pounding in my chest. As usual, the bar was completely full, probably more than what a fire marshal would allow; but even with the crowd my eyes searched for the Scotsman.
But I couldn't see him anywhere. Instead what I saw, standing at the bar waiting for me, was a very drunken, brown haired man who I immediately recognized. As soon as I saw him, I knew that my night was only about to get so much worse....
