Chapter 47
While Inside we felt the building shake and heard a loud explosion from outside. Me and Maggie ran outside and met up with Carl, Beth, Daryl, and Rick. Looking down in the field outside the fences was a huge tank. Michonne and Hershel were on their knees with their hands tied behind them and gags in their mouth.
"Daddy," Beth whispered.
Then the Governor stepped out and stood behind them with a bullhorn and Michonne's sword. Daryl slow-walked over and grabbed guns and handed them to everyone.
"Stay beside me the whole time. Understand?" He said and I nodded my head.
The Governor lifted his bullhorn and spoke. "Where's Rick?!" He said.
Rick walked down into the empty yard near the bus to talk two the asshole. We couldn't hear too well what he was saying but they were arguing. It was clear the Governor wanted our prison and would fight for it. Carl lifted his gun and Daryl stopped him.
"I have a shot I can take it and end this," Carl argued.
"Or you start a fight by shooting. Let you dad tale care of it," Daryl told him.
In the ended the Governor didn't listen and sang the sword cutting into Hershel's neck. Maggie and Beth screamed and we all started shooting. The tank moved forward and through the fence. The governor and Rick started to fight and Rick was losing.
I stayed near Daryl as we fought back to back. Killing any of the people that were with the Governor and any walkers. The Man with the tank had come up into the courtyard so Daryl took a grenade and shoved into the barrel of the tank. The Man inside escape to in time as it blew up.
We pulled more walkers as we ran across the courtyard. I spotted Beth and grabbed her hand. "Beth come on," I said.
"The kids I can't find them," she said.
"I'm sure they're fine come on," I told her.
"Come one you two Let a go now!" Daryl yelled.
We all three ran into the woods and didn't stop until we were in an open field with overgrown grass and weeds. We all three fell to the ground and laid on our backs panting and trying to catch our breath.
We eventually got up and kept walking. We didn't know if anyone else made it or they were all dead. Beth strongly felt that her sister and everyone else was alive. Daryl however did not he thought they were all dead. He had closed back in on himself and wouldn't say anything to us. He just scrolled and moved ahead.
We had gathered things on the way like string and cans or anything we could use to make a border to put around the small camp we had so it would warn us of walkers. It's been a few days since the prison fell. We were now sat around a small fire eating a snake Daryl had caught. It wasn't that good.
"I need a drink," Beth said.
Daryl troughs her the only water bottle we had and continued on his snake. 'Not that kind of drink. I mean alcohol," she said. Daryl of course ignored her.
"Beth, honey, why do you want alcohol?" I asked her.
"I've never tried it before," she said.
"It's not that great," I said.
Then she got up and started walking away. "Where are you going?" I asked her.
"If you guys aren't going to help me I'm going by myself," she said and walked off into the dark woods.
I looked after her as she walked away then looked at Daryl. "Well? Seen you just going to sit there or are you going to help me talk sense into her?!" I growled at him.
"She wants to get herself killed then so be it," he said.
"Fuck you, Dixon!" I said and walked after Beth.
I walked around in the dark woods making sure to watch my footing. "Beth!" I whispered yelled.
Eventually, we bumped into each other scaring the crap out of us. "Y/N," she whispered.
"Yeah, it's me," I told her.
She grabbed my hand when we heard a snap of a twig. Then a walker appeared out of nowhere. We grabbed our knives and ran behind a tree. Then it went down with a bolt in its head. We slowly came out from behind the tree and looked up to see Daryl.
"Come on," he said.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"To find her a damn drink," he said gruffly.
We walked through the night and into half the next day when we came out to a clearing. It looked to be a golf course. We quickly ran over to the club and locked ourselves in just as walkers caught up to us.
We walked around and ended up having to kill a few walkers. Beth had found a bottle of wine in the kitchen but it got broken when a walker surprised her. We went into another room where the top half of a woman was on the bottom part of a mannequin and said Rich Bitch on a sign around her neck.
Beth was trying to take her down so Daryl just through a blank on her. Then he had to kill a walker and blood ended up getting all over Beth so she changed.
We went to the bar area where Daryl had grabbed darts and throw them at a picture. Beth found peach schnapps. "This will have to do," she said.
I walked over to Daryl and looked up at him "You're not going to let her first drink be fucking peach schnapps are you?" I asked. He looked at me and rolled his eyes.
He walked over to Beth grabbing the bottle from her hands and throw it. "I'm not going to let peach schnapps be ya first drink," he growled and we left the club.
Daryl had to lead us to an old run-down house. He went to a shed and there were cases of masion jars full of clear liquid. "What's that?" Beth asked.
"Moonshine," Daryl told her.
We walked into the house making sure it was clear first and nothing would get in easily. Then Daryl gave Beth a glass with a little bit of the liquid. "Daddy always said moonshine would make you go blind," she said.
"Ya want to drink or not?" Daryl asked her.
She took her first drink coughing a little as the liquid burn her throat going down. "That disgusting," she said laughing. "Aren't you going to drink?" She asked me and Daryl.
"I don't drink," I told her.
"How'd you know how to find this place?" She asked Daryl.
He took one of the jars and took a drink before saying "grow up in a place like this."
