Mythical Dads

Diane's POV

"Just Reality"

I woke up to someone shaking my arm and whispering my name. It was Em. I wasn't in the mood. It's 8 AM. It's too early.

"Diane. Diane!" Em whisper-yelled.

I blinked and then yawned.

"What?" I moaned. I looked at our suroundings. "Where are we?"

"Apparently, we're in a hospital,"

"I can see why. My head still hurts,"

"Did you have the same dream last night,"

My eyes widened. "You dreamt, too?"

"It was about Rhett and Link,"

"And them claiming to be our dads?"

Em and I busted out laughing. It couldn't happen.

"I did have another dream. I woke up and was here. Rhett was crying beside you, holding your hand,"

"No way!"

"But... that one kinda seemed real," Em mumbled.

"C'mon, that couldn't possibly be--"

The door of our room suddenly opened and in stepped in Link, Christy and Jessie. Link and Christy rushed to Em's bedside. Jessie ran to me, giving me a hugged.

"Oh, my goodness! Baby, are you okay?!" Jessie worried.

"--real," I finished my sentence. "Okay, so it wasn't a dream,"

"No, it was all real," Link replied.

"Do you guys remember now?" Christy asked.

Em and I looked at each other. Then at them.

"No," We both sighed in unison.

Link rubbed his head. "Man... Rhett's not gonna be happy about this,"

I looked around. He wasn't anywhere. I started to worry.

"Where's Rhett?" I asked.

"He's outside, talking to the doctor. They're sending you home soon," Jessie replied, tearsbeading down her eyes.

"Please, don't cry. I'm sorry I didn't remember anything but... it just happened,"

"Yeah, you guys don't have to worry too much about us. We're not that special," Em added.

"No, you are," Christy said.

Jessie sat beside me and hugged me again.

"I love you, sweetie. Dad does, too," Jessie said.

I wanted to say "I love you," back. But it doesn't feel right for me. I barely know them. Tears fell from my eyes. I hugged her back. This all seemed confusing and overwhelming to me. Everyone was worried for us. I wanted to remember. I really do. But now I can't even tell if this is a dream or a reality.

I looked up to the open door, waiting for Rhett to come in. I hope he's alright. I don't want to hurt himself all because of me.
