Period Four: Gym

Peter decided it would be best if he left Steve's art studio for his next class. It would definitely be awkward between the three of them for a while and Peter didn't want to learn in that environment. Plus Natasha and Clint came home and he had gym so it'd make more sense if he went back to the training room. Depending on if they did anything or not, the training room would actually be really helpful.

Instead of cramming himself up against another corner, he settled for where the gymnastics equipment was normally set up when in use. Tony had bought the same blue mats most schools got and a few bars gymnasts would normally practice on when Wanda showed interest in bringing gymnastics into her fighting techniques. Natasha, who basically made a living off of gymnastics, assured her she'd help train her; this Wanda was very thankful for. The mats stayed on the floor at all times. The bars and other equipment were shoved into the closet when not in use (these also doubled as the sparring mats--something Natasha and Bucky utilized a lot).

No one was down there beside him so everything was free real-estate. He decided to sit down, cross-legged, in the center of the mats, stretching his back a little as he waited for the passing period to end. He could've joined the call early but that'd be super awkward and no one enjoyed being the first one there. So he sat and stretched his legs a little while he waited. A few Avengers came and went while he waited, seemingly looking for something.

Finally it was time for his fourth period.

He joined just in time to hear his teacher saying, "--won't be a serious class." Peter instantly started smiling. He hated gym before he got bit so he had to hate it afterwards. Now that he could actually do most of the stuff teachers required of them, it wasn't so bad. He did worse training with other Avengers (which was mainly his fault--he just had to have trained with Thor) or out in the field anyway. But it'd still be nice knowing he finally had a gym teacher who wouldn't be expecting him to be an Olympic athlete--though he certainly ate like one most of the time.

The teacher continued going over what they'd be doing at home and what they'd be doing once they went back to school. A few minutes in, Peter's phone--which he had set beside him--lit up. He glanced to it to find a text from Ned.

Hey buddy

Peter started smiling again. He'd been so concerned with most of the Avengers that he hadn't checked to see if he knew anyone in any of his classes. It was a relief hearing from Ned.

Are you sitting in the training room?

Peter glanced around like he was looking for Ned. Confused, he glanced back to the screen and skimmed through the list of people at the bottom. He stopped when he found Ned Leeds on the list. His smile grew. He wasn't entirely alone! Peter glanced at his teacher before looking back down at his phone screen, his fingers dancing along the keyboard as he tried to figure out what he was going to say.

Yeah. Didn't know what we'd be doing today. Figured it was safer to be in here

He bit his lip as he twirled his thumb around some more.

Plus I made it kinda awkward between Cap, Bucky, and I

Once Peter saw the three dots and the 'read' tag came up on his message, he glanced up at the teacher, scanning whatever it was she was sharing on screen. So far the class did sound pretty relaxing. He saw a lot of yoga and meditation scheduled in. Something he desperately needed in general.

Peter felt his phone buzz so he glanced back down.

What did you do to make it awkward between you and Captain America???

He bit back a laugh and shrugged instead.

He's Captain America!!!!

I kinda sorta brought up Mister Stark's parents

There was a long pause in the conversation. Peter went back to biting his lip, feeling embarrassed again. He'd have to try and apologize after school was over. Maybe after dinner too. It was a really low blow over something so stupid. Why had Peter felt so offended over Bucky telling him he'd assassinated President Kennedy? It wasn't even him! It was HYDRA! Peter huffed and glanced away.

The fight between everyone wasn't super long ago but the wounds should've healed by now. Peter tossed his head to the side in thought. Granted, he was one of the few who fought that didn't get a sense of closure. He'd been Tony's intern/assistant for a while at that point and truly felt close to him; so close Peter was starting to see him the same way he saw his Uncle Ben. And he'd felt so personally offended when Tony told him about the secret Steve had been keeping from him for who knows how long. But by the time Peter saw Steve (and Bucky) again, everything had been swept under the rug and all was forgiven. Peter never really got to give Steve a piece of his mind.

Peter's eyes widened, his gaze no longer on his computer screen, and his jaw dropped a bit. That was why he felt offended. He'd been bottling up his emotions over an event that didn't even affect his life. Tony felt like the world was ending when he learned that secret so Peter, who was desperately seeking Tony's praise, felt the same way.

He groaned, screwing his eyes shut. He seriously needed to apologize to both Steve and Bucky for everything he'd said up there.

For the remainder of class Peter was going to pay attention to what the teacher had to say but when a thud sounded from behind him, he knew something was up. At this point, everyone was unmuted and stretching their legs. Another thud sounded. Peter glanced back to try and locate what was making that sound. Finding nothing, he huffed and continued his stretches. Another thud came--only this was much louder. He turned around to find Clint laying face first on the floor a few feet behind him.

He quickly glanced back at his computer, offering and apologetic smile to whoever was watching him. "Excuse me," he said before standing up and heading over to Clint. At first it didn't appear Clint was moving. When he started moaning after Peter nudged him with his foot, Peter knew he was still alive. "Are you okay?" he asked softly. Clint continued moaning as he struggled to push himself up. He nodded his head, managing a sitting position.

"We're playing hide and seek. Tasha almost found me in my original spot so I left and started looking for a new one." He rubbed the top of his head, barely managing to keep his eyes open. "Guess I should've remembered the air conditioning was broke back here before I headed this way, huh?" They both started laughing. "Sorry, Kiddo. Didn't mean to distract you from school."

Peter offered him a soft smile and brushed it off. "You sure you're okay?"

Clint nodded. "Yeah, I'll be fine. Go back to school." Peter nodded.

He headed back to his computer and sat down. "Uh, sorry ma'am," he offered because he knew the teacher was watching him. A few of his fellow classmates were watching him too. He rubbed the back of his neck, trying not to stare back and desperately praying his cheeks wouldn't turn red.

"Mr. Parker, where were you?" the teacher asked politely, an eyebrow raised.

"Um, Clint fell. . . out of the air vents. . . again," he supplied. He could tell his teacher was trying her hardest not to laugh. "I'm the only one down here so I had to check and make sure he's okay."

"That's quite alright, Mr. Parker. But please make sure it doesn't happen again." Peter nodded. He waited for the teacher to move on with class before he glanced back at Clint over his shoulder. Clint gave him a thumbs up and managed a weak smile.

Peter was so going to use this as payback.
