1976, Hogwarts
Lily Evans was fed up.

She was fed up of school, she was fed up of work, but most of all, she was fed up with that arrogant toe rag, James Potter.

It had been just past lunchtime and I had been down by the black lake with Marlene and Alice. We had been having a perfectly nice time, laughing, chatting, gossiping about Marlene's latest crush, when Potter and his idiotic friends had decided to come our way. Of course, the marauders (I thought that was their silly group name, anyway), never came your way just for a chat, James had simply decided to, again, ask me out. For the second time today! Honestly though, you would have thought he'd at least have the good sense to take it slower! Apparently not. Anyway, after I turned him down, again, he refused to leave and instead, to my great annoyance, sat down and started talking to Alice. Obviously he got bored with five minutes and being Potter, he did what he did best, trouble.

He called Black over and together they began to make loud, rather inappropriate noises and started hexing the people nearby us. Luckily for them, just as Professor Vine passed by, they disappeared under that invisibility cloak that James has. And can you guess what happened next? As a testament to my luck, Professor Vine thought it was me who performed the hexes! Me! And now thanks to those imbeciles I have a detention to get to. Ugh. They. Make. Me. Sick.

*Five minutes later*

You have got to be kidding me.

Seated in Vine's detention are, of course, the marauders (though I noticed Peter was missing). Potter and Black smirk up at me as I stiffly move through the room to sit next to Remus. He isn't that bad really, we do homework in the library together sometimes. I think he just needs to get his friends changed.

Professor Vine glances at me once before returning to his work, "if you could 100 lines for me Lily."

I scowl at him before muttering "yes sir."

Halfway through my lines, there's a commotion outside the classroom that causes Vine to look up and then leave. "Your in charge, Lily", he says before he goes. Of course, Potter and co take this as an opportunity to mess around, they've all ready gathered around Black's desk.  A small grey box, I think it has some gold-green encarvings on it, probably contains trouble, is being pulled from James's pocket. "Hey Lily", Potter calls across at me, "care to join?"

I scowl at him, letting my eyes do the talking for me. "Hey! What's that in your pocket?"

I glance down to see what Black was on about. Oh. My time turner. I've been using it to get to extra lessons, I forgot to leave it in the dormitory before I left for detention though. "It's none of your business", I say before returning to my lines. However, when I glance up again, I see Remus growing slightly as he asks me, "is it meant to be glowing?"

I look at the time turner and frown. It is indeed glowing, in fact it's getting brighter by the second. "Why's it doing that-" I start to mutter, but I can get no further because just then, the time turner implodes, sending us spinning through time with nothing but golden sand in the DADA classroom to mark our disappearance.
