Becca opened her eyes. She was lying down. On something soft. She sat up, looking around. She was in a field of grass. Tall, golden grass that reached up past her head.

She started walking. There was nowhere to walk, though. It was endless grass, spanning out in every direction. Irritated, Becca spread her wings and flew gently upward. But even above the grass, all she could see was an endless golden field under a grey, clouded sky.

Suddenly, a voice blew across the plain. It was muting a single word. Flames. But it wasn't talking. It was shouting and whispering it, everywhere and nowhere. It was like the voice was all around her, and in her head at the same time.

Becca looked around, trying to figure out who or what had said that.

It happened again, this time coming from one side of the field. She landed, eager to get away from her wings, and began running through the grass. She didn't know why she was doing this. She was never someone to follow voices, but this one... it was like it was calling her.

She burst through the grass, to find... her mother.

Only it wasn't her mother. Her mother was human. The thing right in front of her was a bird with feathers made of fire that was dripping embers. The bird was also the size of a horse.

Her mother opened her beak, letting out a screech. But the screech was a word. The screech was unmistakably the word. Beware.

"What?" Becca tried to ask. "Beware what?"

But her mother did not say. Instead she turned human. She stood there smiling, in the same clothes as the day of the fire. "Beware."

"Beware what?" Becca screamed.

Suddenly, a line of men burst through the grass, carrying guns and shouting. Becca touched them without thinking. But the flames did not stop. They spread across the ground, running up to her mother. Burning her. Consuming her.

"Mom!" Becca screamed, running to her. "Mom!"

Suddley, a voice echoed around her. "Wake up!" She whipped around, trying to pinpoint the voice. "Wake up!"

Loki didn't know why this girl was magic or even how. All he knew was this was the most powerful mage he had ever seen and he didn't even know who or what she was.

She also didn't know why this woman was being targeted by The Darkness. But Loki had to figure this out.

All she could do was run. She teleported herself and the woman into a cave a few miles north. Loki knew the avengers couldn't find out. She knew that if they did, everything would go. To shit and this woman would become the subjects of tests and experiments. Loki knew what that felt like and she didn't want that to happen to anyone else.

Loki sat down on a small outcrop of the cave, tuning back into a man. It would be better if the woman recognized him went she woke up.

Becca shot up, looking around. She was in a cave. A large warm comfortable one, but still a cave. A few feet away was the man, Loki, dressed in green leather. He was sitting on a small outcrop from the cave wall. He gave her a small smile and stood up, walking over to her.

"Glad to see you're not dead." He helped her up.

"What happened?" Becca asked, still confused. "Where am I?"

"After you had your... attack in the closet, I brought you to my room. It was the only place you wouldn't be found. Then, we were bombed. I'm not sure by who or what. But I brought you here." Loki answered. "So the avengers could not find you. They would have had a lot of questions, many of which, I believe, you would not be equipped to answer."

"And why should I trust you?" Becca let her voice fill with accusation.

"I will admit you have no good reason to trust me. I did as good as kidnap you." Loki said. "I do however know a great deal about magic. I think I might be able to help you find the answers you seek."

"Ok." Becca walked over to the entrance to the cave. They were at the base of a hill, and a large one. "And, if I did trust you, what would we do now?"

"Find answers." Loki walked up next to her. "That seems like the most logical thing to do."

"Right." Becca said, straightening up. " and how do we do that?"

"Well, it would require me probing your mind."

So, what do you think? Good? Bad? Mediocre?

Also, if you are genderfluid, did I get that right? I do not, under any circumstances want to misrepresent you.

Anyway thanks for reading!
