Y/N's POV
Connor and I get outside the church and hide in an alleyway to say our goodbyes to each other before we split up.
"Are you going to change back?" I ask, gesturing to his current, snugly winter outfit and black beanie.
He smiles, laughing slightly. "I'll have to if I want to avoid suspicion."
"Aww, alright," I pout. "Just make sure that you wear that outfit more often once this is over. It's cute and I like it."
He laughs some more. "Alright, alright. I will. Promise."
I can't help but laugh too. "Thank you."
Connor's smile fades as he gets a thoughtful look on his face.
I'm about to ask him what's on his mind, but before I can, he slips his arm around my waist and draws me closer to him, kissing me.
My heart begins to race as I close my eyes and kiss him back.
It's not long before the racing of my heart is replaced with a sense of peace, like everything is going to be alright.
But then he slowly pulls away, leaving me with a sense of despair as I become aware of the cold that exists without his warmth.
Connor cups my face in his hands. "Someday, we'll be accepted. Someday, you and I can start a life together. Someday, humans and androids will live peacefully together. And we can show them. We can show them that it's possible."
All these doubts begin to swirl my mind as I become even more aware of the cold around us.
"But... I'm human, Connor. I... I can't live forever. You... you can," I tell him, realizing.
He puts a finger to my lips to quiet me. "Shh. Don't worry about that right now. Look, I might not live forever. If I get destroyed now, CyberLife isn't going to make me again. I don't have unlimited lives anymore, and I'm thankful that I've never been destroyed yet. But something could happen. I might not be immortal."
"But I don't want to think about anything happening to you." Tears start to form in my eyes.
"I know, I know. I don't mean to worry you. I'm just saying that we're in the same boat more than you think."
I shake my head. "No... no, Connor. I'll grow old. You won't. You'll have to watch me struggle. You'll have to watch me slowly fade away. I don't want to hurt you..."
Connor kisses me again quickly to prove a point, resting his forehead against mine. "Don't worry about that. You're not going to hurt me. I'm going to be alright. I want to be there for you. I want to be able to watch you grow old. I just want to be with you as long as I can. Because... you make me the happiest android in the world."
I sniffle, smiling through my tears. "Thank you, Connor."
"Do you believe me? Will you stay and fight for this?" he asks.
I nod. "Of course. I will fight with all I have."
Connor hugs me tightly. "Be careful out there. I'll see you before you know it."
I slowly pull away. "You be careful too. I'm serious. Be very careful. What you're about to do is very dangerous."
Connor starts backing up towards the opening of the ally with a smile on his face. "Don't worry, for you, I'll always accomplish my mission." He winks before turning and running off.
I feel blush creeping up on my cheeks as I stand there for a bit, staring in the direction he ran off too.
Then I get my game face on.
