Flying Solo ?poe dameron?

"Amaya!" My mother's voice snaps me back to reality. "Are you listening?"

"Yeah. Yeah, sorry. What were you saying?" I look to my mom.

"She was saying that we need to change the location of our base," Captain Slade says.

"Right. That's uh... that's a good idea." I say. I look back to where my gaze was held prior. Poe turns away from his current conversation and he smiles at me.

"General, no offense, but Commander Solo seems a bit... distracted. Are we sure she's capable of completing this task in a timely fashion?" Captain Wolfe asks.

"She and Commander Dameron will be fine," Mom says. "I hope..."

"Alright, you two. We need you to scout out the planet, test the atmosphere, check for abandoned Rebel bases, the whole nine-yards," Mom debriefs Poe and I.

We go and get in our ships and fly down to the icy planet. We land and hop out of our cockpits. I shiver from the cold.

"Come on, Poe. Let's make this quick, I'm freezing." My teeth chatter as I speak.

"We'll be quick, Cosmo. I swear," he grabs our needed equipment and we walk around the desolate planet, searching for any signs of the First Order.

We almost finish our scan when we see a First Order ship parked on the snowy land. I grab Poe's hand and run back towards our ships.

"Come on, Flyboy! We gotta go!" I hop into my ship and throw on my helmet. I start up my ship and fly out of the atmosphere, Poe not far behind.

We fly back to our main ship and walk to the Command Center. "The planet was occupied by the First Order. We need to get out of here," I say to my mother.

"Thank you. We'll find our place. You two are excused. Go have some fun you two," she waves us off.

"Actually, I need to talk to you General," Poe says. She looks to him and nods. "Go back to our room, I'll be there soon." Poe kisses me.

"Okay. Love you," I say before walking down the hall.

Mom calls us to the command center. It's just her standing in the room. I get a little bit suspicious but shake it off thinking everyone else was just excused from duty.

"I have another special mission for you." My mom looks at Poe and I. "I need you kids to check this planet for any First Order troops or anything that might prevent us from moving our base there. Just do what you did last time. Think you guys can handle it?"

"Yes ma'am," Poe says putting his hand in my back pocket.

I smile at the small gesture before answering. "Of course, Mom."

"Go on you two," she waves us off. "Make good choices!" She points a finger at us.

"Always," Poe grins at her as we turn towards our ships.

We hop in our black X-Wings and fly out of the ship. When we get in space, we begin conversing through our private comms.

"When we get to the planet, I have to talk to you," Poe says.

"About what?" I ask nervously.

What if he doesn't love me anymore? Is he wanting to end what we have?

"You'll see," he replies.

Fear starts to settle in the bottom of my stomach. We land on the planet and we hop out of our ships. Poe walks over to me and grabs my hand.

He looks me in the eyes and gives me a quick kiss before he grabs the chain around his neck. He unclasps the chain and takes the ring off of it.

"This was my mother's wedding ring," he looks down at the ring in his hand. "When she died... my dad gave it to me." Tears begin to form in his eyes.

"Take your time. I know it's hard to talk about her," I place a hand on his cheek. He leans his face into my hand. I move my hand from his cheek and move his curly hair out of his eyes.

He looks up into my hazel eyes. "My father told me to give it to the one I love. I've worn it all these years waiting for the right woman to walk into my life. Now I realize, she came into my life 15 years ago, but I let her slip away."

"Poe, what are you saying?" I ask confused,

"I love you, Amaya. I love you so damn much. I'm never letting you go ever again." He holds the ring out as he kneels down on the grassy surface. "I want to be with you forever. I love you and I will never ever stop. Amaya, will you marry me?"

I begin to tear up. "What the hell is wrong with you?" His face contorts in confusion. "Of course I'll marry you!" I kneel down with him and attack him in a hug and kisses.

"You had me worried there for a second." I feel the chuckle reverberate in his chest.

"I love you so much, Poe," I kiss him.

"I love you more, Cosmo." He grabs my left hand and slips his mother's ring on my finger. I smile when I feel that it's a perfect fit.

"Come on, Poe. We have to scan the planet," I say.

"No we don't." I look at him, confusion crossing my face. "This wasn't a mission. I told your mom what I wanted to do, and she made up a fake mission so I could ask you in private."

"That's so sweet. I... I don't know what to say Poe," I smile.

"For once in my life I have left you speechless," he jokes.

"I hate you," I chuckle.

"If you truly hated me, you wouldn't be wearing that," he points to my left hand that now dawns a shiny silver ring.

"I guess you're right," I smile.

"Oh my stars, I love you," he kisses me.

"I love you too," I say in between our chaste kisses.

"I told your mom we'd be a while. We've got some time before we have to be back. Wanna have some fun?" He smirks suggestively.

"We don't have anyone to interrupt us this time," I pretend to think. His face grows into a humongous smile.

"Let's get started then, huh?" Poe smirks.

"Let's," I say. Poe grabs me and kisses me. My fingers tangle through his curls as he lays me on the ground.
