Bryce turned to look at me. "Holy shit," he managed to say as he looked me up and down.
"Don't be silly," I replied, crossing the room and taking his hand in mine. "Let's go."
We walked down the stairs, and everyone was already sitting in the living room. A few whistles came from the group, and I chuckled. "He is pretty hot, huh?" I joked.
"Don't wait up," Bryce yelled back as we left the house."Where are we going?" I asked as he opened my car door.
"Stop trying to ruin the surprise, mamas. You'll find out when we get there."
I faked a pout. "No fair."
"Don't start with me," he said, leaning in with his lips inches from mine. "I don't want to have to punish you."
The innuendo in his words sent chills down my spine. I held his hand as he drove, his bicep flexing under the sleeve of his shirt as he turned the wheel."Alright, we're at the first stop now. Are you ready?"
I got out of the car and looked around. "What are we doing here?" I asked. We stood in front of the original Sway house, the very place we had met.
"We met here. It seemed to me that it was only right that we spend our one year together in the same place that we started it. Well, at least for a little bit."
"Bryce," I began, "this is the sweetest thing that anyone has ever done for me."
"What do you mean? We haven't even gone inside yet. I talked to the new owners, and they were willing to let me use the house for the night while they're out of town." He unlocked the door and took my hand, leading me through the house and to the patio.
It was the prettiest that I had ever seen that patio. Gone were the empty White Claw cans. In their place were string lights, wrapped delicately along the fence. Soft music played from a speaker on the balcony. "I kissed you for the first time in this house. You can call me crazy, but ever since that day, I knew it was you. I think that it's always been you," Bryce said, rubbing his thumb against my hand that was still intertwined with his. "Now, sit! I brought your favorite."He pulled out two black cherry White Claws and a container filled with chocolate covered strawberries. "You remembered?"
"Of course, I did. The day we first kissed you told me that black cherry was your favorite, and I remember how much you loved the strawberries we had for dessert at our first real date."
"Could you get any more sappy?" I giggled, giving him a soft kiss. "I'm kidding. I love it. Bet I can still shotgun this faster than you though."
Bryce looked at me in disbelief. "Not a chance, rookie. I'll prove it to you."
We both shotgunned our White Claws, finishing at the same time, laughing at our ever present competitiveness when it came to our shotgunning abilities. We fed each other strawberries and looked up at the night sky. After about an hour, Bryce stood up and held a hand out. "Next stop, beautiful."Bryce drove to a random spot in downtown LA. "C'mon, we're here," he said, putting the car in park and unbuckling his seat belt.
"Um, Bryce, why are we here?" I laughed.
"This is the first spot that Fletcher stopped us together at. Do you remember? 'The fans wanna know if you guys are a couple now'?"
I laughed, the memory of the day suddenly coming back to me. "I remember. I pulled a you and said that you were just like my brother."
"Your humor, your calmness under that pressure, I fell in love with it that day, in this very spot. Alright, that's enough of that, we still have two more stops.""Is Saddle Ranch a stop?" I asked.
"Can you stop trying to ruin the surprise please?" he asked, flustered.
"Okay," I laughed.
Sure enough, we pulled up at Saddle Ranch. "Since you ruined the surprise, you little asshole, can you tell me why we're here?"
"There's plenty of reasons. We frequently go on dates here. We hang out with all of our friends here. You asked me to be your girlfriend here. We told Fletcher that we were officially dating here. I realized that I love you here."
"Damn, it took you three months to realize you love me? It took me three days."
I shook my head. "Don't go putting words in my mouth. I definitely thought it as early as that first day, but I knew for sure when we came here."
"You forgot some important things about Saddle Ranch," Bryce said.
"What did I forget?" I asked, confused.
"Come with me," he said, getting out and coming around the car to open my door.Bryce walked up to the host stand. "I have a to-go order for Hall."
The host left to grab the order, and I looked at Bryce. "Did you get me the jalapeño mac and cheese?"
"Of course I did. I know it's your favorite."
I wrapped my arms around his waist. "You didn't have to do all this, Bryce."
"I wanted to. You are the most important thing in the world to me right now."As we left Saddle Ranch, Bryce took my hand in his again. "We have one more stop before we go home, okay?"
At this point, I would let this man take me anywhere.
We pulled up to a spot that I knew well. "Oh my God. I almost forgot about this," I said, looking at him in shock. "We met our first fans here."
"Everywhere we went, people yelled 'Braddison' at us, but when we came here, all they wanted was us. That's all I want too."
Bryce led me to a blanket under an oak tree. As we sat and ate our dinner, I smiled at the man that I loved more than anything.
