- John's POV -
Walking in I saw a man. A man who looked just tired of everything that was happening around him. A man who was tall but looked soft. A man I almost wanted to cuddle-
"Stop staring and get over here." the tall man growled and laid back in the chair. I bounced up, loosing track of what I was doing and getting WAY too distracted from my own imagination. But I have got to admit he was handsome. I walked over quietly.
"Hello-I'm John," I said quietly, not wanting to raise his temper by saying anything stupid. He gave a slight nod, not really caring.
The woman who was next to him sighed. Rubbing her temples. "I'm sorry-he's a jackass when it comes to people. I'm Maria-and it's Thomas," she gestured to Thomas.
He rolled his eyes being preferred as a 'it'. He looked to me and sat up. "How old are you kid."
"24."
He slightly widened his eyes in surprise, staring me down. "You're kidding-18 at least?"
"No sir," I mumbled. Now figuring out why Maria was so tired with him and his attitude. He gave a slight nod as always and tried to get up again. I offered out an arm to help him up but he just glanced and got up himself.
"Look." he rubbed his head, "I've never had an assistant-"
"Co-worker." Maria corrected with a glare.
He cleared his throat to correct his mistake. "I've never had a co-worker before. And I just don't want you getting into shit you don't need to get into, like my personal life mkay? We don't just get coworkers for fun in this-it's more when we seem like we need help. But some don't like me." He muttered.
Maria sighed tiredly and slammed her fist. "The reason he's here is to help YOU because YOU got injured in the head Tom. At least show some decency to this kid."
I sighed. "Not a kid," I mumbled under my breath but of course no one heard.
"I'm trying to. I just feel like this isn't necessary for ME. THOMAS to have some mom to baby me." Thomas complained, I couldn't help but smirk.
"It's not a baby sitting job for him-look," she growled, "this is mainly your fault because you weren't careful enough. And who knows what that creep found from you. You blacked out and he had full access to your wallet and shit. So take the chance to save your job or you'll for sure get fired."
Thomas just huffed in response. "Let's just-let's just go. Follow me." He grabbed my arm and walked out. I followed, almost tripping by him dragging me.
-------------------
I was led to a small shed at the edge of this 'town'. Looking around and snickering. "You live here?"
"It's a warehouse not my place to fuck around in," he mumbled, "but it is MY warehouse so get your hands off."
I smiled in response and watched him pull out a card from his jacket.
"Just call me Thomas and we won't have any issues."
I nodded and took the card, sort of a business sort of thing. The only rule I was told while walking into here was do NOT share your last name. Last names can lead to people finding your family and entire identity. First names? Fine. As long as it was a pretty common name you can get around. Lucky for me I got stuck with a basic name.
"I don't have an apartment yet-could I just sleep here for one night..?" I suggested quietly, stuffing the card into my jacket.
He looked me up and down and sighed. "Fine. Don't touch anything on the desk, just sleep in the corner with the mattress."
I glanced, the mattress in question was completely chewed up by who knows what. But it'll work. I give a nod and we part our ways for the night.
A busy guy he is. At least I assume.
