chapter two — cold winds yet warm hearts

THE COLD WIND PASSED by Sung Jin-woo and the young man felt himself shiver from it. Pulling his coat closer towards his body as he desperately tried to keep himself warm on where he stood underneath a lamppost that gave him some light beside the still dark sky. It was still around three in the morning after all, and the sun still haven't even risen yet.

Sighing, the E-rank hunter wondered why he was doing this. It was cold and his practically getting hypothermia at this point but the black haired male's thoughts went back to the phone call he had received from his best friend some time ago.

Sung Jin-woo didn't know what to feel really. His emotions where all over the place (it seemed to always be that way with anything remotely related to his best friend) and Sung Jin-woo was just so done with it at this point.

Was he supposed to feel excited? Well, the black haired male was, in no doubt, excited as it had been awhile since he and his best friend had met, but Jin-woo was also confused.

Why did [Name] asked him to go to the old park they used to pass by in high school and had asked for him to wait there? The black haired male had no clue. But then again, Yang [Name] was a bit of an odd and private person, even before they were best friends.

Despite knowing [Name] since his first year of high school, Jin-woo had to admit that he knew little about his best friend's current condition in life right now as they both parted ways when the black haired male discovered he was awakened and decided to pursue being a hunter to support his little sister and his hospitalized mother. Even so, Sung Jin-woo also admits (proudly) that he still knew a lot of things about Yang [Name] than other people knew about the man.

The twenty-four years old male knew that Yang [Name] was someone who loved to listen to music and even knew how to play the piano which he was very passionate about and being lucky to also hear his best friend play the piano.

Sung Jin-woo remembered the days where [Name] used to for him over the phone at night so that he could fall asleep. When the black haired male was still new to hunting and going off to dungeons, he was beyond terrified on the other side. Monsters that could kill you were real and the E-rank hunter was subjected to seeing those horrible things and even get hurt in raids. It didn't take long for the nightmares to come and haunt his sleep and even in his waking moment at times.

Sung Jin-woo remembered waking up to a horrible dream of him dying inside a dungeon, left behind by the others. All alone, left to rot and die and most worst of all, Jin-woo didn't get to see his family or his best friend ever again. The black haired male was so terrified, he woke up crying and had immediately called [Name] in the middle of the night to make sure his best friend was still there and didn't left him like in his dream.

The black haired male remembered how [Name] groggily picked up his call and was moaning how it was too early for Jin-woo to call him, only to stop when he heard the sobbing male's cries. Jin-woo remembered how [Name] immediately went into panic and had worried over him.

He remembered [Name] telling him that he'll be right there in his apartment complex in a couple of minutes, only for Jin-woo to cut him off and said that he doesn't need to and that the phone call they were having was fine due to the black haired male's guilt when he realized [Name] still had classes to attend in the next couple of hours.
