cold winds yet warm hearts

Start from the beginning

[Name] had agreed, albeit a bit hesitantly which Jin-woo remembered how his own heartbeats went a bit fast than its normal pace when he realized how his best friend cared for him to go through lengths to comfort him. Even journeying in the middle of the night just to hug him and say that he was there for him.

[Name] stayed in the phone for him and they talked about things to let the black haired male forget about what had made him cry. Jin-woo remembered that night, he never had told [Name] about his nightmare and he was thankful that his best friend didn't push him to say anything. Respecting his privacy which saved Jin-woo the embarrassment since he didn't want his best friend to know he was crying on a nightmare where he left him.

After awhile, the black haired male remembered heard some shuffling on [Name]'s end of the line and when he had asked about it, Jin-woo remembered [Name] saying to wait for a second and he did.

It took awhile for the E-rank hunter to have an answer from his question, but it was worth the wait when Jin-woo heard a soft melody came from [Name]'s side.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what his his best friend, Yang [Name], was doing. [Name] playing the piano for him. Not even caring if he had woken up his neighbors or family from him playing the piano just to ease Jin-woo woes away. Jin-woo couldn't help but fall in love with his best friend again at that moment as [Name] disregarded everything to just play the piano for him.

After that night, both Jin-woo and [Name] had the tradition to have a call in the middle of the night when the nightmares came so that the black haired male can hear his best friend play the piano to chase away his woes and worries aswell as to lull him to sleep.

Remembering that memory, it made the black haired male feel warmth spread through his body. It was a happy memory and it made Jin-woo smile fondly. His best friend was the best. Yang [Name] was someone Jin-woo would never trade for anything. Not even riches or fame. Those things didn't matter when someone was side by side with you through your ups and downs, and that was Yang [Name].

Jin-woo stood in the bottom of lamppost near the park his best friend said for him to wait. And wait the black haired male did with a single coat to protect him from the cold winds— yet, Sung Jin-woo felt warmth spread from his heart to through out his body with that one single, happy memory.

As the twenty-four years old male was lost in reminiscing memories of the past, Jin-woo did not hear footsteps approaching his lone figure until it was too late.

There was someone clearing their throat from behind the black haired male, making the daydreaming male brought back to reality as Sung Jin-woo realized he was not alone. Eyes wide with his heart beating fast due to the shock and fear that was spreading throughout his body. Jin-woo turned to look on who was behind him as he mentally prayed for whatever deity that was listening to him that he wasn't going to be mugged by a random stranger or be killed by a murderous psychopath.

It was still dark and the stranger was a bit out of reached from the light of the lamppost that Jin-woo was standing underneath. The black haired male squinted a bit in hopes to see more but alas, Jin-woo can only see a silhouette of a man (he presumed) that was a bit taller than him. He could not see their face but the E-rank hunter hoped this was not the serial killer he heard rumors about that were killing people.

The fear Sung Jin-woo felt was immediately washed away though aswell as the paranoid thoughts circling inside his mind slowly disappeared when the stranger took a step forward towards him and into the light of the lamppost. The stranger's features were revealed to Jin-woo and the black haired male couldn't stop the smile creeping into his lips.

Soft [Hair color] haired that seemed to have seen better days right now. Small imperfections decorated his [Skin color] skin like drops of paint falling down into a newly put canvas, yet those imperfections never mattered in any way for Jin-woo in the first place. And [Eye color] eyes that the black haired male was too familiar off that light up upon seeing him.

This was his best friend.

The very man who asked for him to wait near the park they used to pass by when they were in high school, and the very man he waited for.

Yang [Name].

"Hey [Name]," Jin-woo greeted the [Hair color] haired man with a smile that not yet to left his lips. the black haired male saw the corners of his best friend's lips quirked upwards until a smile of his own was on his lips.

Yang [Name] did not greeted back his friend. Instead, the [Hair color] haired man had stepped closer towards Jin-woo and immediately pulled the shorter male in for a hug.

It took a moment for the black haired male to realized what just happened, but when he did, Jin-woo wrapped his own arms around [Name]. Not paying mind to the rapid beating of his heart as he softly smiled at his best friend's actions.

"Hey Jin-woo," [Name] finally greeted the black haired male in his arms. "It's been awhile."

"Yeah... it's been awhile, [Name]."
