CAMERON FELT LIKE ALL HER GUTS WERE GOING TO ERUPT FROM HER STOMACH AND SLIDE UP HER THROAT. AND THEY DID.
She hunched over and let herself cough up all the contents in her stomach, which wasn't a lot, to be fair. "Oh, there goes my oatmeal," Cameron muttered to herself as she gripped the trash can with both hands, staring down at her puke with a disgusted face.
"You are disgusting," Jolene came up beside her. "Please stop staring at it, you're gonna make me throw up."
"I'm sorry I just—" Cameron said before stopping in her tracks, already feeling her food travelling up her throat again. Quickly, she ducked her face down into the trash can again.
"Lucy!" Jolene called out. "Jessie, she's doing it again!"
Almost instantly, Jessie was rushing into the room, never hesitating to kneel beside Cameron as the raven-haired girl coughed up a lung. "Lucy, can you bring her some water?" the blonde called out as she rubbed a caring hand along Cameron's back.
It took a bit of time, but once Cameron was calmed down enough, the girls decided now would be as good a time as any for a pep talk. "Look, you're a natural-born superstar," Jessie started, Jolene standing to her left cautiously. "You're gonna kill it out there today, you don't even need us."
"But we will be there every step of the way," Luciana said, draping her arm to sit over Cameron's shoulders, bringing the girl in closer to her. The four stood around in the dressing room they'd been provided for backstage for the gig they were about to sing at.
"What did I do to deserve you guys?" Cameron pouted.
"Someone in your past life must've really loved you," Jolene said, stepping closer to Cameron, bringing her hands into hers. "I know I do."
Where Luciana was wearing jeans and pink heels with ribbon, Jolene was wearing distressed pants, black heels and a red tank top with a leather jacket. Jessie wore a pale yellow sundress sinched at her waist with white flower designs throughout the dress from chest to her knees. Cameron still wore a neon green shirt with leather pants.
Breathing out heavily as she took in her surroundings, Cameron spoke to the three, "let's do this."
As fast as they had imagined it, it was already over, but it would forever be a moment they'd treasure. Adrenaline was rushing through their veins as they hopped off the stage and back to the curtained entrance where they had emerged from, the sounds of their fans getting fainter and fainter.
