"Alex!" You yelled down the corridor. The dark haired boy had just left the great hall and you darted after him making sure not to lose him. You panted lightly from the sudden exercise and looked at him again.
"I don't know if i've read the situation wrong, and I apologise if I have but I've been informed that you asked me on a date like thing while I was under the impression it was with all of you. I just don't want to give you the wrong idea." He looked rather saddened by your sudden words but quickly covered it up with a smile, but as usual you could see right through it which made you feel quite bad.
"Hey it's fine, I completely understand. Besides, we've only known each other for a couple of months so don't worry about it. Can we still go though? I'd like to get to know you more and I hope you want to know me better as well." You nodded quickly at his question and he smiled again, but for some reason. The smile on his face was unsettling almost, like a sudden plan had popped in his head, but you decided to brush past it hoping it was just nothing and that you were overthinking again.
"Anyway i've got to go, I'll see you in potions later, bye!" You yelled as you ran off back to your common room to grab your potion notes you had made. You made a list of difficult to make potions your father had taught you before the attack, these were potions that were often not taught in classes or even found in books outside of the restricted section of the library, so they intrigued you greatly.
You finally made your way into the potions classroom and sat at your table next to Jack.
"Good morning." He said happily as you sat down, for some reason Jack always seemed to have a positive attitude, no matter what his mood was which made you feel incredibly content and joyful which not many people managed to achieve.
"Ah Miss L/N. Before we begin I would like to ask you to move next to Mr. Riddle." Slughorn began as he entered the classroom. You looked at him slightly confused.
"I'm sorry sir, but I'm not sure that would be a wise decision, Riddle is fully capable without a partner, Jack however is a flight risk, no offence, and could blow up this classroom in an instant without supervision." You had a slight suspicion of what Slughorn was doing but you weren't entirely sure. Based on his idea of the 'Slug club' and his clear favoritism, you assumed he was sucking up to the more 'academically inclined' students to then gain off them in the future, you being one of them, but you weren't entirely sure. This seemed like a scheme to place the two stringest potion makers in a team to combine the skill and create something for his own benefit and amusement. You were not impressed, but you wanted to stay in his good books as long as you could.
"I'm aware of that Miss L/N, however I feel he cannot unlock his true potential if you are doing all the work for him, I will make extra precautions to make sure his.. Mishap won't be a recurring one. Now if you wouldn't mind taking the seat over there." You nodded obediently wishing Jack luck and went over to Tom who had overheard the conversation and had shuffled along to make room for you.
"Now class lets begin. Today we will be discussing and brewing one of the strongest potions. It may not seem much of a threat as it is not a deadly or harmful potion, however if used incorrectly or in the wrong hands can lead to awful situations." Slughorn pulled up a cauldron from under the desk and placed it on top for all of you to see
"Now who can tell me what this potion is?" No one put their hands up and the class fell silent. You snickered slightly at that. Awkward silences always managed to crack you up. It's like it was always so silent that you could physically hear the cogs turning in people's brains to try and find something to say to break the tension and silence which just made it all the more amusing for you.
Hearing you laugh made Sluhorn turn his attention towards you as you continued to look down at your notes.
"Miss L/N. Maybe you can enlighten us of what this potion is?" You looked up and sighed straightening your back. Why does he always ask you..
