It took him almost an hour and a half to get through it, but Clef finally did it. He had only told Glass what he thought was important in making him who he was today, and why some of his previous experiences affected what he did in the present. It was quite reliving, to finally tell someone about it, well, besides Kondraki who had known for years. After talking for so long, Clef noticed that both he and Glass had taken on a lying position on the roof, their heads near one anothers while the rest of their bodies went opposite directions. They had been watching the clouds drift by as Clef told his story, but not paying much mind to them. The pair stayed silent for a while, if he had to guess Clef would say Glass was just taking it all in, processing all that he had heard. However after a few more minutes passed, he got slightly worried and looked over at Glass on his left. He had the same, calm expression as always, his big blue eyes that where looking up at the sky drifted over to Clef as he asked "so, anything else you'd like to know?" Clef wasn't trying to be a smartass or anything, but he knew that after everything he'd just revealed Glass would have to have at least a few questions. It caught him off guard to say the least when Glass simply said "I'm sorry." His apology sounded so wholehearted, so real, and so honest that Clef had to blink a few times to process it fully. Then, he got confused as he put more thought into it, "why are you sorry? You're the one who's been trying to help my stubborn ass for years. If anything I should be apologizing to you for all the shit I've done to you." This made Glass chuckle a bit, as if everything Clef had done to try to get out of his therapy sessions were just an ordinary thing that every staff member tried to do. He knew Bright and Kon had done similar things on occasion, but not nearly as often or as extreme. Glass propped himself up on his hands and Clef did as well so they were facing each other now as he said, "Well for one, I'm sorry all that shit happened to you, I mean you never did anything to deserve that abuse. And for another thing, I'm sorry I didn't understand. I know that you never told me your story or anything but I should have showed you more kindness, and I should have just done things differently." Wow. Clef could hardly grasp the fact that Glass, the most innocent person he knew, had just swore. It was kinda hot if he were being honest. But for another thing, he felt so incredibly grateful that someone finally saw Clef for what he was, a person. Glass had apologized for things that weren't even his fault, but just the fact that he did made it hurt Clef a little less. "You did everything you could have done," Clef replied, still looking at Glass whose gaze had drifted to the roof tiles. However, Clef's gaze didn't change, he kept his eyes on the psychologist who was seated in front of him. Suddenly, a small laugh escaped from Glass as he lifted up his head and ran a hand through his messy blonde hair, "you were right you know. We do have more in common than anyone else knows." Clef was caught a little off guard, he knew they both had experienced relationship problems/abuse but it seemed like there was more. Did Glass suffer more than he had realized? As Glass' eyes met Clef's, he could see he saw his confusion. He let out a small sigh, and a sad smile crept its way into his lips "would you like to hear my story now?" Clef's cat-like eyes must have suddenly grown so there was mostly black and his blue and green showing because Glass looked incredibly intrigued with them. He hadn't expected that Glass had a story to tell, after all he always showed himself as a calm, collected person. Everyone just assumed he had this perfect life, a good family, normal past, and got picked up by the foundation just for being the best at what he does. For a moment, Clef considered declining the offer, he wasn't sure if Glass was being serious or not. After a few moments, he nodded, accepting the offer. Glass nodded in return, looking him straight in the eyes he said, "before I do, I need to make sure I can trust you with this, and that you won't tell anyone else anything no matter what happens. Can you do that?" Even more curious than before, Clef nodded, "I promise Glass. I will keep this between only you and me. No one else." They sat like that for a few more moments, Clef assumed Glass was debating whether or not the king of lies had told the truth for a second time today. Seeming satisfied, Glass leaned back against the incline that lined the top of the roof, Clef matched his movements and his eyes stayed planted on the psychologist. Glass' blue eyes drifted back up to the sky, and after a few moments, he took a small breath and began. "I'm going to go a little out of order here Clef, just to make things simpler. Before Paradox died, we were going through a bit of a rough patch, which was partially my fault. You see, I told him something I hadn't told him or anyone before, because well, I trusted him, loved him. I wasn't born as Simon Glass. My name was Sarah, and well, when I hit around the age of fifteen or so I discovered I was trans. That's what made Arias uncertain, doubting if this love was worth it. Anyways, when I told my family that I was trans and wanted to make the change my parents weren't too happy about it. We were a pretty wealthy family, so I knew they could afford it, but they decided not to, because they wanted me to stay their little girl. However, I got lucky enough to have my brothers, the three of us took two jobs each, three over the summer, and we eventually got enough money for it. I still owe them for that. So I got the surgery when I turned sixteen, but as soon as I had recovered from it my family kicked me out. I don't have any extended family really so things were hitting a rough patch for me for a while there. I would stay with friends and stuff for awhile, but one day everything changed. My parents are high ranked members within the CI, so when the foundation learned their youngest child had no protection they took their opportunity. I was held captive for a few days before I met Arias. He had told me the bad news, that my parents didn't want me back and didn't care what they did with me. So, he helped me. He gave me a place to stay, a job at the foundation as an MTF so I could earn enough to go to college and find out that this is what I was meant to do. To help people become their better selves. Arias and I hit it off pretty quickly as soon as I had my therapist position here, which makes more sense now I guess. He understood me, what I had gone through and what I had to do to get to where I am now. When he died, no, when he betrayed me, I felt the same way I did when I was kicked out. But now I'm thinking, what if that just means a new start for me? A new chance to make a difference. Heh, anyways yeah, there's a summarized version of my life." He sighed, letting go of everything he had kept in was so freeing. Clef sat beside him, he was completely shocked and whether or not his face showed it, Glass could tell. He was dumbfounded to say the least, here was someone who always had on a happy face and a hopeful demeanor, and he had gone through literal hell. "Damm Glass, your a badass." A small laugh escaped from Glass' mouth. Clef gave him a questioning look and raised an eyebrow, "what? You think otherwise?" Glass smiled a bit and looked over at Clef, "all I did was survive and use what was given to me. But you, you actually made something brand new, and made one of the best MTF units there is." Clef could hardly believe what he was hearing. After everything Glass had suffered through he thinks his new life was just handed to him? He wouldn't stand for this, "Glass, you started at the very bottom and it was because of you, not him that you're here right now. You put in the work. You decided you wanted to change. You decided you wanted to help other people change. And if you're going to compare yourself to me, you are so much stronger than I am. For years, even now still I dwell in the past, have relapses, and I can't let go. But you, you've moved on, and you don't let it affect your everyday life." Clef didn't notice at first, but he had changed positions so he was kneeling in front of Glass so their eyes were about at even height. He found it strange how close he had gotten, and he backed up a few inches as soon as he realized. Glass didn't seem to mind though, like he hadn't even noticed which Clef was more than grateful for. Glass pushed his back against the small wall and got into a kneeling position similar to the one Clef was in. He locked eyes with Clef yet again, when they did it felt so comforting, he would say even passionate. "Thank you, Clef," Glass said with a real smile, Clef couldn't help but crack a small toothy grin as well. He didn't know what it was, but Clef wanted to be like him, no, to be around him more. He wanted to open up to him, let him help, and help him in return, it was a feeling he hadn't ever felt before. "You can call me Alto if you'd like," he said as Glass' eyes started to drift off again, he wanted those eyes linked with his own forever. "Well then, you can call me Simon," a bigger, more cheerful smile spread across Glass' face and Clef loved it, he had never realized what a nice smile he had. For the next three hours, Alto and Simon sat on the roof facing one another, just talking about everything. Clef got to learn more about Simon's experience in the MTF, and Glass got to learn why Alto was always so quirky. "Well, I think it's about time we head in, getting dark and we still have work tomorrow," Glass said once there was a break in conversation. Clef tilted his head a bit as they both stood up, "you sure you're alright to get back to work already?" Glass smiled and nodded, the pair started to walk to the elevator when he asked a question that caught Clef a bit off guard, "you wanna meet up somewhere different tomorrow? Maybe the nearby town? I heard they've got good booze." Clef couldn't help but laugh a bit, "you're just full of surprises aren't you Si? But yeah, that'd be nice. Same time?" Glass nodded, and after a quiet elevator ride back to their separate floors they parted ways. Clef took some time to wander the halls, Glass never left his mind. He didn't know why, but he didn't like whatever it was he was feeling, it made him feel vulnerable, something he promised himself he wouldn't let happen again. Shaking off the feeling for just a moment or two, he made his way to his foundation provided room. It was a considerably nice place considering the other rooms he's seen over the years. It was on one of the bottom floors of the top half of the site which overlooked a cliff face along a lake. One wall in his bedroom was completely bulletproof glass where he could see the view, he never realised how calming it was until that point. Leaning against one of the walls, he surveyed the waves as they crashed over the jagged rocks at the bottom. Before he knew it, he was out cold in his bed, the last thought going through his head, I wonder if Simon has a view like this.
Part two done and 2142 words! Took me awhile to get this one out I know, but still got school and everything going on. Anyways hope ya'll enjoy and let me know if you want another pet or not!
