Before becoming the beautiful, outstanding creature it is, the butterfly has to endure an intensive transformation. With a vision of how majestic it would want to be in the future, the Caterpillar lives the first stage of its life with only one purpose: gain strength by eating more and more leaves. Although it knows that it will have to go through a certain amount of discomfort to endure change at a certain point in its life, it decides to ignore fear and focuses primarily on its present circumstances. After devouring an enormous amount of food, the caterpillar begins to grow in length and strength, allowing it to enter a new stage gradually.
Slowly but surely, begins a clear change in it, and although not sure of what's to come, it continues its evolution without worrying too much about the events to come.
On a summer afternoon that seemed no different from any other, it suddenly feels a rushing sensation going through its body; without truly knowing why it decides to head towards a leaf that would be high in a tree, where no predator would harm or disturb it. Without the color of its exoskeleton changing or having any special fluid indicating it was the appropriate time to get in its cocoon, the caterpillar decides to trust its instincts and folds to begin the last stage of its evolution. Its exoskeleton hides and protects itself one last time to focus on this process and allow change to happen entirely.
After hiding itself for merely three weeks, it gradually emerges from its cocoon and allows the world to admire its splendor. What was once a vicious, long, and disgusting caterpillar is now a magnificent butterfly, who can carry itself and show the world how magnific it is.
Most of us only know the butterfly for how beautiful it is. We know nothing about the long and enduring process it took to become so beautiful. We admire the result without knowing all the hard work that had to be done to have such a masterpiece.
Do you truly understand what Change is? Do you understand the process that has to happen for a weak to become strong?
Change is the process in which the old makes way for the new, simultaneously being good or bad according to the given situation. It is a long and complex process that is thought to be quick or slow according to different individuals, but it is ultimately a slow process. For it to occur, every old habit or behavior has to disappear. In some cases, we may even see physical changes like the caterpillar and many more.
Changes often happen in people due to various amount of reasons, often known as triggers. These triggers would lead to a change in an individual, and rare are the cases in which changes occur for no certain reason. For a change to occur, there ultimately needs to be a reason which coincides with the change.
A long list of myths have been attributed to change, but only two will be discussed in this part, namely that "change must be imposed" in order words to impose change onto someone or something; the second is that "change is an easy and quick process," which is a statement that truly disgusts me.
Change is self-empowered, just as we humans can't fully convince another human into becoming exactly how we want them to be; similarly, we way can't impose or force someone or something to change for our better good. We may put them in the appropriate conditions or environment for them to change, but the rest will be totally up to them; as the wise saying goes, "help yourself, and the sky will help you".
When I was a little child, I would often hear my Christian classmates speaking to other Muslim students in our school, telling them they wouldn't inherit the kingdom of God because they don't believe in Jesus and that they were praying to a false god. Like normal people, these Muslims at their turn told them the same thing back, and it would lead to eternal debates that would last till the school bell would ring, signaling school was over. Amongst these Muslim boys that were constantly being harassed by the Christians was a young man who wasn't happy being a Muslim and truly believed in Christ. He believed in his heart that Jesus was the son of God and that he died for his sins, which made him a true Christian in his heart.
