PAUL POV
"Paul! What is wrong with you? Why would you say that horrible and untrue stuff to Y/N?!"
"You know, Kim, your voice is really starting to get annoying. Why don't you mind your business, and I'll mind mine." I spat back while taking a seat again in my chair.
"Just drop it, Kim." Jared pleaded.
"No! Paul, you know what Y/N did was only meant to HELP! I mean, we all knew you can be a jerk, but that was a whole new level, Paul. I don't think I'm so hungry anymore." Kim pushed back from the table, storming off and out the front screen door, with Jared following behind her.
I was having a terrible few weeks. I mean, sure, the kiss with Y/N was everything and more, but the fact of Chelsea having to see, and not being able to break up with her the right way was a lot for me to handle. On top of that, I had found out that Chelsea was actually hanging out with some slime ball at Forks High School during the latter part of our time together, which explains why I rarely saw her, and why she was always cancelling plans. But, I had moved on from her.
I didn't answer any calls or texts from Y/N after that day at the beach, mostly because my shifts increased thanks to Sam, and because I was still upset with her. Even though I told Y/N I was mostly upset about her making me look like a cheating jerk, I was more upset with her for bringing that good for nothing, Chaz, to the beach. I'll admit I was a little harsh during the dinner, but, I'm also not known for handling my anger well.
The rest of dinner was silent, and awkward. I finally had enough and excused myself, shifting while heading outside and toward the woods for time to clear my mind.
READER POV
Well, that was the worst sleep of my life. I could feel a slight headache coming on, and reached for an Advil on my bedside table. It was 8AM, and I had never been up this early on the weekend unless Emily had invited me over for breakfast.
I quickly got dressed and checked my phone to see if Chaz had texted or called-but, nothing. If anything, I could always enjoy my own company before having to come back and get things together in boxes for my big move. I headed downstairs. No one was awake just yet, so I decided to leave a note on the kitchen counter so they wouldn't worry.
I made it to the diner in about 20 minutes. Upon entering, I was surprised to see Chaz was already there, sitting at a table near the counter. I took a deep breath and exhaled before walking up.
"Chaz. I'm so happy you're here." I smiled a genuine smile, and sat down across the table from him.
"Likewise, Y/N. I apologize for not answering your texts and calls. I know you brought me here to apologize, but I'm not upset with you anymore. Truly." He smiled, and a wave of relief and happiness washed over me that at least I was hated by one less person in this small town.
"So," he continued, "tell me about this move.."
PAUL'S POV
I loved Sundays. They were perfect for hanging out with the pack after our shifts, and having a good time. Emily had assigned a few of us to run to the grocery store in town for a few ingredients for a meal she was planning to make. Myself, Jared, and Jake all packed into my Jeep and headed to Forks.
We were grabbing the last few items on our checklist when a sickening, and all to familiar smell filled our nostrils. The three of us looked at each other simultaneously before making our way closer to the smell. It was our job to protect the humans, and we needed to act quickly.
The smell became more intense as we haulted to a stop in the Greeting Card section.
"What the hell are you doing here, Chaz?" I asked as Jared, Jacob and myself made our way closer.
