Y/N's POV:

I arrived to Blackwood Pines, the bus hissing to a stop. I grabbed my bag, shivering as I stepped out of the bus. I walked up the remaining bit of the plain road. My feet hit the snow, making a small crunching noise. I pulled my phone out of my back pants pocket, although I knew there would be no reception. The upper left corner of my screen read "no service" as I sighed, putting my phone away once again. I couldn't wait to see everyone again, especially Mike. Time seemed to rush by, my excitement of being back building immensely. Before I knew it, I had arrived at the cable car station, Chris and Sam already there as a car came to a stop. I gave the two a quick smile as we exchanged hellos, and stepped into the car. I sat across from them, looking out the window as they chatted. I didn't pay them much attention, fading in and out of listening. Chris was saying something in relation to the "butterfly effect", but I didn't pick much else up. The cable car came to a halt, snapping me back into reality. I let Chris and Sam step out first, following them out quickly. Chris jiggled the doorknob to the station, quickly realizing it was locked. "Jess! Hey!" Chris said with urgency, as I looked through the window seeing Jessica be slightly startled. She came over, letting us out of the station. "I thought we were goners. Another ten minutes in there and I would've chewed off my own leg." Chris jokes, followed by a disgusted look from Sam. "Oh, sick Chris." She stated, causing a silent laugh from me. Jessica was holding what looked to be a letter, which Chris quickly noticed. "Bwip" he noised, pulling the paper from Jessica's hand. "Hey!" she exclaimed as Chris took a glance at the envelope. "Well, well, well.. what do we have here? ..my goodness, seems that someone has a little crush on our good friend and dear class president Michael Munroe." He said. My heart sank, as I looked over at Jessica hoping she'd say something proving him wrong. She confirmed that she was in fact dating Mike, and suddenly my excitement for this weekend had disappeared. Jessica sat on the bench outside of the station, waiting for Mike. Chris, Sam, and I kept walking towards the lodge. 'Well, at least I have Ash' I thought, sulking in silence. After what felt like forever, we finally reached the lodge...Only to find out the door was frozen shut. "Great." I muttered, and moments later Ashley caught my eye. "Hi!" I said with a bright smile on my face. I figured that just because I couldn't spend this weekend pining over Mike didn't mean I couldn't have fun. In fact, maybe it's better for me that Mike is with Jess. Ashley grinned, standing up from the steps of the lodge and pulling me into a soft hug. I returned the hug, as Josh and Chris spoke about how to get in. I watched them turn the corner of the lodge. "Geez, I hope they hurry up" Ash said, cupping her hands together and blowing hot air into them. I nodded in agreement, shivering slightly as my teeth began to chatter. "Is it usually this cold?" I inquired, in a joking manner. "Let's just hope it warms up a bit" I heard Sam chirp in. "Agreed." Ash said before we heard a false ghostly sound from inside the door. "Very funny, Chris." Sam said sarcastically. "Wait, how'd you know it was me?" Chris joked, as he became visible through the door's window. "Just get the door open, we're freezing our buns off out here" Ashley said, annoyed that Chris was taking so long. A couple minutes pass, and we hear the flame go and the door unlock. "Ta-Da" Chris said, opening the door. He let out a high and sudden screech as a small animal ran out of the house. Sam Ashley and I poked fun at him as he refused to acknowledge the patheticness of it. Everyone piled in, sitting on the couch and chairs. Soon after, Mike and Jess arrived quickly getting in a spew with Matt and Emily, causing Josh to send them to the guest cabin. I wasn't too upset about it, although I would've appreciated it if Emily and Matt were sent out instead since Em started the spew. The two ended up making a quick exit anyways, since Emily "needed" her bag that was misplaced along the path. I sighed, pulling out my phone once again and scrolling through some old photos from last year's trip. I smiled sadly as I saw pictures of the twins. Ashley joined me in looking at the pictures, before Chris pulled her aside. Sam quickly went with Josh to fire up the burner as Chris and Ash went on a mission to find the spirit board. I decided it could be fun to go on a quick walk, seeing that there was enough light for me to walk for a bit. Suddenly, a few minutes into my saunter, the lighting for the paths turned off. They flickered for a while, but in the end remained off. "Fuck" I spoke softly, getting my phone out and turning on the flashlight. Thankfully, my phone still had quite a bit of battery left but the flashlight wasn't very powerful. "Stupid fucking smartphones" I said, regretting not bringing an actual flashlight. I soon realized I didn't know where in the path I was, so I walked in the way that seemed the most right. About 15 minutes pass, and I come to the conclusion that i'm officially lost. "Emily? Matt?" I yelled loudly, but without fear in my voice. I assumed they'd still be outside looking for Em's bag. No response. "Fucking bullshit" I swore softly, getting a little spooked. I soon saw a light moving not too far from me. I began walking faster towards the light, hoping I may find someone from the group. Following the light, I saw Mike. I smiled lightly and was about to call out for him, but realized he seemed to be in a hurry. Like REALLY in a hurry. I followed him, at the same pace he was going and watched him hold a rifle, then drop down a steep hill. "JESSICA?" I heard him yell out. This pierced my ears, and I realized something really bad was happening. I sprinted after, following his movements. I soon watched him reach a worn-down wooden building and quickly enter. I decided it was best for me to stay outside. I heard yelling, and soon after heard a gunshot. I wandered in, worried for what I might find. The floorboards creaked quietly as I walked as silent as possible down a small set of stairs. My voice came out patchy, almost stale, as I questioned "Mike?" into the darkness. I heard frantic movement, following where I assumed this was coming from. I watched Mike climb on top of a rundown elevator. I followed, the metal hurting my hands. I reached the top, seeing Mike slide under a metal door than slammed shut as soon as he made his way through. The loud noise made me jump, as I nearly fell back off the elevator. I made my way through the confusing building, finding myself somehow in what looked like a mineshaft. "Mike?" I questioned, louder this time. I jogged ahead, and suddenly I saw a man out of my peripheral vision, quickly snapping my head towards them. It was in fact Mike. "Mike?" I said, my voice slightly shaky. His head shot up. "Y/N" He said, with a look of sad relief. "What the hell happened?" I questioned, "Where's Jess?". He looked at me for a moment, his facial expression changing wildly as it set into his mind. "Jessica is dead." He said, with no emotion in his voice. "What? What do you mean she's dead?" I asked, hoping he was wrong as my stomach began to sink. "I mean, she's fucking dead Y/N.. Like, no fucking breathing, fell down a shaft dead. Tongue sticking out, jaw ripped off dead. Dead." He said, my face turning purple. "Oh, f-fuck." I stuttered, standing still. "We need to go follow the man." Mike said. "What man?" I asked. "The one who killed Jessica."
