The Secrets Within [ON HOLD]

Chapter 10

"She's asleep, she won't know," Willow says.

"Jar," Alaina says all of a sudden making Willow jump and me to laugh.

"You're lucky I love you," Willow says kissing the top of Alaina's head as she pulls out a dollar.

Willow hands me the dollar and I walk into the kitchen and put the money into the swear jar. "Hi, Momma," Alaina says as she sits up and rubs her eyes.

"Hi, Lanie," I say as I pick her up.

Alaina rests her head on my shoulder making me smile. "It's late, you can sleep in the extra room," I tell Willow and she nods.

I walk upstairs when Alaina speaks up, "Can I sleep with you, Momma?"

"Of course you can," I say and I feel Alaina smile against me.

I get to my room and lay my daughter in the bed. She snuggles into the pillow and I pull the blanket over her. I change into my pajamas then get into the bed next to my her. Alaina moves towards me and I smile as I wrap my arm around her.

As I close my eyes an idea for a song pops into my head. I grab the pen and paper next to my bed and quickly write it down. Once I finish I lay back down and Alaina clutches my arm. "Love you Lanie," I say and I kiss the top of my daughter's head.

A smile forms on her face making me chuckle. I then close my eyes and fall asleep.

"Momma," I hear making me groan.

I then hear some laughing I someone starts to shake me. "Wake up," a deep voice says making me jump awake.

I watch as Alaina and Willow start laughing with each other. "What in the world was that?" I ask them.

"Auntie Low scared you," Alaina says while laughing.

"And you think that's funny?" I ask and Alaina nods.

I smile and grab her and lay her on the bed. Alaina starts laughing loudly as I tickle her. "Momma! Stop!" Alaina shouts while laughing.

I continue to tickle her as I laugh. "Auntie Low! Help!" Alaina then shouts.

"Superwoman to the rescue!" Willow says as she shoves me off of the bed and onto the ground.

"Seriously," I say as I hit the floor.

Alaina and Willow are laughing harder as I stand. I shake my head with a chuckle and head into the bathroom to freshen up.

I walk back into my room and hear Alaina and Willow downstairs. I make my way downstairs and see Alaina eating cereal while Willow is on her computer. "I'm done," Alaina says and I smile.

"I have to talk to your Auntie about something, so why don't you go watch TV?" I ask and Alaina quickly nods and rushes into the living room.

Willow peaks over her computer. "What do you want to talk about?" She asks.

"A new song idea," I say and Willow stand up straight with a smile.

"What do you have in mind?"

"A song about Alaina. Just about how she made my life better," I tell Willow and her smile grows.

"I love it," she says and I smile.

Then my phone dings and I pull it.

Unknown: Hi, Erin. It's Christen

Unknown: And Tobin

I chuckle when I realize that they made a group chat of us three.

"What are you laughing at?" Willow asks with a raised eyebrow.

"Nothing," I reply quickly.

"You're blushing, it Christen and Tobin," she says and my jaw drops as she grabs her computer and walks into the living room.

I look back at my phone and quickly text back.

Erin: Hello, beautiful ladies. What would you like to do today?

Tobin: We were wondering we could come to your house and meet Alaina.

Erin: Of course you can. How about in two hours? Here's my address. . .

Christen: Sounds good, see you then.

I smile as I put my phone and walk into the living room. "Low," I say catching my friends attention, "Can you please leave?"

"What? Why? Do you not want me here?" She asks sarcastically.

"People are coming over."

"What? Who are these-," Willow starts but then realizes, "I'll stay. Have a talk with them."

I groan as I walk to her. "Not today. I want them to meet Alaina, not your fist," I tell her and she glares at me.

"Who Momma?" Alaina asks making me look at her.

"People who I think you'll be happy to meet," I tell her and she smile.

"Fine, but they will get a talk," Willow says packing up her things.

"Thank you," I tell her.

"Also, studio tomorrow morning, 8am," Willow says and I nod.

"Bye, Pumpkin," Willow says hugging Alaina.

"Bye, Auntie Low."

Willow leaves and I let out a breath of relief.
