jschlatt sat near one of the dancers stages , swirling around his fruity cocktail with a bored look on his face . he always had days where he'd feel like absolute shit , where a cup of liquor was the only thing to drown out his thoughts . today was different , though , as the neon red glistened in the pink hued lights , chunks of strawberry resting at the bottom of the glass . unappealing . today felt unappealing . he stared at his glass , stirring it gently with a purple splotched toothpick umbrella as he gazed around the room . lost in his own space of noise , the clattering of ice cubes clanking against one another . strawberry cuts swirled around in the glass , as the untouched punch dripped with condensing water droplets .
a nearby dancer attempted to get his attention — a ram , just like him , in a flashy bikini , sparkling in the warm pink lights . her horns were entwined with neon straps , her lips a glow in the dark green . a soft glitter film layered all over her , as she leaned against the shiny silver rod . his eyes met with hers , a bold , everburning orange that sparked with confidence . he scoffed internally , not wanting to blow all his money on some whore that wagged her hips in an enticing way , bored golden eyes flicking away and instead , around the room . it wasn't until a prominent figure caught his gaze .
enjoy yourself , enjoy yourself .
he caught himself staring , a middle aged something man with tired grey eyes flecked with a glossy silver — small eyebags resting under his eyes as an uneven , scruffy looking stubble replaced the usual , " clean " look of a customer . despite them being a decent amount away from another , he could see his prominent features all too well . mysterious . something better than just the scraps left for the usual . an inner voice practically yowled at him to walk over and talk to him — seven months here and this is one of the first times a scuffed newcomer managed to slip in without his notice .
just leave me for somebody else .
jschlatt moved quickly , the pounding sound of music and incomprehensible talking and laughing of the crowd making his ears twitch . rolled up dress sleeves , a crisp white that showed every bunch mark perfectly . a sloppily undone tie that was stained with some inky shades of black . he'd usually care about how his suit was treated by strangers , bumping shoulders with some lady and being touched by the arms , more fine glitter spreading around the place . now , that wasn't what his mind raced about . successfully making it out the hoard of people on the dance floor , he wiped his suit off , looking up . now , he's in an area with blood orange lights , which reeked with havoc and strong alcohol . he looked at a bright blue bra that was flung to the floor , his expression changing to one of disgust . it was the slutty ram finding a customer besides him , so there is no plan b .
he wasn't prepared for the slightly loud sound of his hooves clicking against the floor , sitting at a nearby table facing the stranger . presumably , his friends surrounded him , a tall woman missing her thumbs , with soft blue eyes paired with full eyelashes . it appeared that she wore winged mascara , they matched her antennas . she scared him , though , not because she's an alien , hell , he's half goat , he can't judge — but she towered over everyone there . there was some alt kid that was wearing a pink and white striped bunny onesie , with blonde bangs and a murderous look on their face . freak . and ... a clown ? a clown . eugh . he strode over to the stranger , his hand slightly slapping against the table . unphased , the other man stared back , eyes piercing through his soul . he had an internal kick from that , face still stone cold as he leaned slightly closer , trying to decode that tired face of his . despite the smell of the club , the scent of warm coffee and early morning newspapers radiated off him and hit his nose .
> * " took you long enough to stop staring at me . "
his arms uncrossed and he kicked his feet up on the table , causing it to shake .
> " i was interested . i never saw you and your friends here . you know how it is , not seeing new faces . "
jschlatt's face formed a welcoming grin , one of his fangs popping out to say hi .
> * " mm . what's your name . "
he snapped , yet his tone staying smooth as a morning latte . jschlatt scoffed as he got stared down .
> " schlatt . "
> * " jed . "
a period of graceful silence surrounded them both , the raging music and small conversation felt like it had come to a halt . just them . staring at each other . it broke with ... ' jed ' turning his head away , to stare at the scene happening on the stage . that itself caused him to glance over , his eyes locking on two people fighting , a woman and a man . raising an eyebrow , schlatt glanced back at jed , who was now gone and near the crowd , leaving him alone . that reminded him — now that the crowd has migrated towards the area of conflict , he could take his drink that he left on the table . standing up , he straightened his tie and brushed off the iridescent sparkles that rested on his thighs . now thinking about it , retrieving his drink doesn't seem like a good idea , due to how weird this fucking place is . the owner literally walked up to him to ask how much his mother was , not too long ago . making eye contact with the blood red mixture , he didn't trust it . mentally , he swore at himself , making his way over to buy another one because he doesn't trust the look of the strawberry chunks on the bottom of the glass .
> * " schlatt is a dumbass name , y'know . it sounds stupid . "
shocked , he turned around , jaw agape . how could he SAY that with a name like " JED " .
> " atleast my name isn't fucking jed , out of anything . "
> * " okay, shlagg . "
> " fuck you . "
> * " haha . "
he laughed , a wide smile that gracefully showed off three dimples -- two on his cheeks , one on the lower left side of his chin . like a bastard .
