Zayn's POV
My heart was pounding rapidly as I hopped out of the car and slammed the door, marching my way into the house as the other guys followed behind. All of us had anxious looks on our faces, given the fact that we had a frantic phone call from Louis saying that Jaylee tried escaping but failed once she got in a car crash.
I couldn't even bare to explain how worried I was right now, knowing my girl had successfully gotten out of the house, yet was captured by unfortunate circumstances. There was rage inside of me no doubt, hating how Louis handled the situation and put her at the risk of death.
Everything inside me was burning up with anger as I stormed into the house and looked around for Jaylee, wondering where she was. "Where is she?!" I yelled down the hall as I turned my head from side to side, hoping Louis wasn't tormenting her any further.
"Louis we're home." Liam announced as they followed quickly behind.
"In here." Louis replied from the spare room.
Since we had a spare bedroom in the house, we decided to turn it into a caring room just in case most of us come back home with multiple bullet or stab wounds. And in this case, it was highly necessary, but that only made my anxiety worse.
My eyes widened with pain as I saw Jaylee lying unconsciously on the reclinable hospital chair, making me walk faster towards her in just a short amount of seconds.
"What the hell were you thinking?!" I didn't hesitate to scream at Louis as I looked down at her and saw a streak of blood covering half of her forehead.
"I'm trying to take care of her mate." Louis replied dryly as he held multiple wet towels in his hand.
"Oh are you now? Because you obviously didn't do that when you hit her and put her at the risk of death!" I yelled at him as I towered over his body.
"I did what I had to do to keep her here! Do you think I wanted to do that?! I had no other choice!" Louis screamed back as he looked up at me madly.
"She is here now! Thanks to me! If it wasn't for the damn car in the garage she would of been long gone by now and none of you guys would of ever seen her again." Louis explained madly as he fixed a utensil that helped clean her wound.
"You are so unbelievable. You had the nerve, to drive Jaylee crazy to the point where she had to go as far as taking one of the cars and fleeing away from you, just to get her to crash and bring her all the way back." I spoke coldly as I watched Louis carefully.
"Is this really news to you mate?! We're use to this by now. Jaylee always tries to run away and she always manages to escape somehow!" Louis yelled back as I clenched my jaw.
"Because you torment her!" I screamed back as he looked up at me.
"You should be on your knees thanking me right now. I saved your girl. If it wasn't for me getting out of those damn handcuffs and haling ass to stop her, she would of been MIA and you wouldn't have seen her ever again or gotten the chance to say goodbye!" Louis defended as he poked at my chest.
I looked at his eyes as I clenched my hands into fists, wanting to pound his face for being so prideful.
"What the hell even happened?" Harry asked as he stepped in and examined Jaylee.
"We had an argument- like always and-"
"An argument about what?" I rudely interrupted as Louis shot me a look.
"Just a common argument about her parents, you know how she is." Louis sassed as I narrowed my eyebrows.
"Well it had to have been personal if she went out of her way to escape." I commented as Louis exhaled madly.
"She's been wanting to escape Zayn! How is this new to you?! Did you forget Jaylee doesn't want to be with us? Or are you still wishing upon stars hoping she likes you enough to stay?" Louis asked as I took a step forward but Liam grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back.
"Go on." Harry encouraged as he looked up at his friend while crossing his arms.
"She caught me off guard during the argument, saying she missed how things were and was trying to get on my good side. So as soon as I was done being mad at her, she took her chances and shoved me against the bed before chaining me to the post and then she took off running." Louis explained as he didn't make eye contact.
"Sh*t." Liam muttered under his breath as he listened.
"As soon as I heard the engine of the car, I broke out of the chain and headed for the garage, remembering we kept a spare car in there in case of emergencies. And I followed her all the way down the road until I stopped her from leaving by hitting the car. As soon as I went to check on her, she was already passed out." Louis informed as I started clenching my teeth.
"Geez.... We shouldn't have left you alone with her. She could of totally succeeded." Liam sighed as he looked down at her.
"Are you kidding me right now? We shouldn't have left her alone with him! Haven't any of you been keeping tract of how terribly he treats Jaylee? It's no wonder why she tried to leave! She can't stand you anymore! But you didn't do her a favor by making her crash and bringing her back! You have gone too far Louis!" I yelled as he glanced up at me.
"Too far?! I went out of my way to save the girl and bring her back! She belongs with us and if it weren't for me- she wouldn't have ever came back! No calls, no texts, no updates. Gone. She would of been gone! And you wouldn't have seen her face ever again because she wouldn't be anywhere near us!" Louis defended as we made eye contact.
I quickly broke the contact to look over at Jaylee, frowning as I tried to deny what he was saying.
"Do you really think she would ever come back to us? I saw the look in her eyes, I know her damn well. She wanted to leave for good." Louis spoke seriously as I licked my lips in frustration.
"What did you do to her that made her so upset huh? What did you do?" I raised my voice as I backed Louis up but Liam quickly got in the way.
"That's enough." Liam spoke strongly as Louis and I locked eyes.
"I didn't do anything." Louis replied quickly but I knew that was a lie.
"You did something to her! Tell me what you did!" I yelled as I tried to reach him but Liam shoved me away.
"That's enough! We're not going to fight right now! We need to first take care of Jaylee and figure out what we're going to do from there." Liam spoke up as we all looked at him.
"She clearly doesn't want to be here anymore!" I defended as I pointed at her.
"And you're okay with that? You're okay with letting her leave and never returning?" Louis taunted as my heart ached against my chest.
"Guys come on! Shut your traps and help me take care of her!" Liam raised his voice as we broke eye contact.
"You're gonna be okay Jaylee.... hang in there sweetheart." Liam spoke softly as he bent down and ran his hand through her hair, breaking my heart as I saw how still she was.
"Harry help me clean the blood." Liam said as he waved him over.
"Why didn't you clean the blood before we got here?" Niall asked as he looked away from Jaylee and up at Louis.
"I tried but she wouldn't stop bleeding." Louis replied.
"Yeah cuz there was glass everywhere. You freaking cut her up." I hissed as Liam turned around.
"That's enough! Both of you go to your rooms!" Liam ordered as we both clenched our jaws.
"I'm not leaving Jaylee. I'm staying by her side." I rejected seriously as I crossed my arms.
"Fair enough. Louis- you've done enough. Go take a breather." Liam said more calmly before he diverted his attention to her.
Louis then turned his heel and exited out of the room, causing both Niall and I to watch him.
"I feel like Louis wasn't telling the full story." Niall spoke quietly as he looked at the doorframe.
"So do I. Something isn't right between those two. I think Louis really hurt her and pushed her last straw." I replied as I turned my head to watch Liam and Harry clean Jaylee's forehead.
"Do you think she really would of left without saying goodbye?" Niall asked as my heart felt like it was sinking.
"I..... I don't know. I don't think we were the reason behind her attempt. I think it was all Louis." I answered as Niall sighed.
"Then I think we can all agree it's time to let her go." Niall spoke sadly as my heart raced.
"If we keep this up, Louis is going to kill her. Jaylee won't ever stop trying to escape if Louis is constantly fighting with her and torturing her. He won't let her leave either. He put her in serious danger and he doesn't even seem to care about it. All he's focused on is the fact that she's back alive." Niall commented as I felt distraught.
"If we let her go..... she won't ever come back." I said more to myself, but I knew Niall heard it anyway.
"She won't ..... but.... isn't she worth it? She doesn't deserve this hell we've put her through. Although we've left her alone Louis won't stop abusing her. He's got a bad obsession over her and he needs to let it go. The only way she can break free from this is if we return her back home." Niall explained as I sighed.
"She does deserve her life back. We should of never done this in the first place." I spoke sadly as I saw Liam hold a bloody cloth.
"I mean it was Louis' idea... we just followed it cuz it made sense. But we didn't know it would go this far." Niall said as he looked up at me.
"If she stays, Louis will accidentally kill her. I honestly don't see this getting any better. Louis is doing everything he can in his willpower to keep her here. So we need to work as a team to bring her to safety. She deserves that from us." Niall added as I realized he was right.
"Louis could track her again and try to bring her back." I said as Niall shook his head.
"Jaylee will be gone by then. We'll give her all the money she needs and leave her to go wherever she wants in the world. She can go to Fiji for all I care. Just as long as she's safe and happy." Niall responded as my heart broke in two.
"And her parents?" I whispered.
"They'll be safe too. I doubt she would leave them." Niall said.
"As far away from us as possible." I spoke under my breath as I looked at Jaylee distantly.
"This might be the last time we'll be with her. Mine as well make it count." Niall sighed as he grabbed my arm and squeezed it for a sense of comfort.
"She does need to be as far away from us as possible.... It's the only way she can be safe and..... truly happy." I spoke in a sad yet determined tone as I felt tears in the corner of my eyes.
"Do you have it in you to let her go?" Niall asked as he looked up at me with concern.
I stood there silently as I watched Jaylee carefully, remembering every single moment I've had with her. From all the bad parts to the good, I loved every single minute with her. She was a joy to my heart, and a joy to my world. I knew I could never come across anyone as great as her. I could never fall in love with anyone else the way I fell in love with her.
She was my rock. My Angel. And I knew I had to give her away and let her go, for the sake of her own life, well-being, and safety. Despite all the progress I've made towards our friendship, I knew I had to take action in the biggest decision of my life.
I had to let her go.
