Atlast, it was evening when Karn was leisurely laying in the backyard watching the little calves and cows playing with each other. He was in deep thoughts. Ofcourse, his parents didn't ask anything about kingdoms as of now, but he was sure that they'll ask him as soon as possible.
Though he felt happy that he met everyone here, he couldn't help but realise he missed something. He shook his head softly discarding the thoughts while his eyes roamed around the gardens of his house in awe. His eyes stopped on one particular tree which he and his friend Suyo both of them planted when they are younger.
His mind went towards that memory...
It has been few days since Karn and Duryodhan have bonded together in friendship. Both the young boys were so happy and joyful enjoying the much precious childhood friendship. That's when one day Duryodhan saw the backyard full of beautiful plants and flowers.
He reached towards his friend asking,"Hey, Mitr! Radhamma grows garden, huh??" Karn chuckled saying,"No no!! it's me. Not my Mata! I love growing flowers and plants!"
Duryodhan gave one confusing look to his friend saying,"But I heard only girls will love those work?" Vasusen's eyes snapped dangerously towards his friend but on seeing his friend's genuine confused dumbass face, he sighed.
He threw his arm over the prince saying,"There is nothing like that,Mitr. Suyo! In this world, we can do anything we want. Making these gardens and taking care of it, is my hobby. These are not simple plants. Each and every plant associate with my emotions. Like this rose plant, you see here, I planted it on my mother and father's anniversary, this plant on my birthday, this plant has medicinal value, I grew it up when I made friendship with you...this one
And that's when Duryodhan interrupted him by saying,"Then come, we can plant a new one today!" And here a new plant which bore beautiful parichath flowers were planted and today it showered Karn with flowers as he was sitting nearby it.
Apart from being a brat, Karn's favourite hobby is to grow beautiful garden and flowers. It offered him solace. While everyone asked him how can he take insult easily just like that, he just make sure his anger didn't consume him thoroughly. Most of the plants here are planted when he was too much humiliated or triggered.
But he didn't expect Mata Radha to take care of the garden after he went. Now that the whole garden changed, it still had the charm. Seems that Mata Radha took great deal of these trees in a very caring and beautiful manner that the tree which they planted years ago was grown to a very admirable height, it towers both him and his friend.
He sighed. Duryodhan went to palace as the king and queen were waiting to welcome their son. It took lots of deal for Karn to send his friend away. But he was startled when he heard horses sound in front of his house.
Since his parents were not in home he reach outside only to see Kauravas sitting in the horses with worried and nervous expressions except Duryodhan who was fuming in anger. Karn saw his best friend and squinted his eyes in confusion. He looked at Anuvindha with raised eyebrows, who said,"We lost Ashwathama, Bhrata Karn! He is not here with us. We searched the whole city... But.." Duryodhan shouted,"What were you all doing without noticing him? Can't you just look out for him? What in the name of heavens you were doing? Busy in kitchens, huh?"
All the brothers had their head held low in fear and embarrassment. The only thing they hate is getting scoldings and yelling from their elder brother. Vasusen looked at his best friend in disbelief. He just did not scold his little brothers unnecessarily, right?? But from the way the Kauravas stood there looking at the floor cleared all the doubts in Karn's mind. Of course, Duryodhan had shouted at his brothers.
He narrowed his eyes and said,"Hold your tongue, Duryodhan! Mind tell me, what are you doing when Ashwathama went away? He is your friend. You should have taken care of him instead of giving responsibility to our younger brothers".
Duryodhan who was accused, glared at his best friend saying,"I was with you Mitr. I am..." Karn raised his eyebrows asking, "And why didn't you let him come with you? What stopped you from introducing him as your friend to me? Don't say that you are not his friend and you are just using him as my replacement!"
Duryodhan looked at his friend with shock and anger. He couldn't believe his Mitr accused him like this. He out of anger punched Karn's stomach. Vasusen was visibly surprised. He didn't expect Duryodhan to punch him like that but nonetheless he too treated his friend in a same way by giving a harsh punch on Duryodhan's chest.
The Kauravas looked at their elder brothers with wide eyes. Did they just witnessed Bhrata Vasusen and Bhrata Suyo's fight? Yuyutsu hesitantly tried to speak but Anuvindha shook his head in negative. He know about both the brothers and he also know it's not good for others to indulge in the fight between two thick best friends.
Duryodhan obviously fell on the floor unable to bear Karn's strong punch while Vasusen glared at his best friend sharply. Friend or whatsoever, if someone attack him, he will give extra in return. That's his habit. The Hastinapur's Prince looked at his best friend whose soft bright eyes changed completely into cold, dominant one glaring at him ruthlessly.
Duryodhan's shoulders slumped in defeat and took a deep breath saying,"Mitr Karn! Believe me. I'm not such a cheapest character to use the boy as my friend for my own reasons. I'm your Friend, Karn. I can't believe you thought I'll..... The reason I didn't introduce you to him and vice versa is he's special. I don't want you to think that he's just my classmate whom I talked in padasala but he's the best friend of mine who stood by me when I felt down. How can you... I... You believe me right??"
Duryodhan arrogant eyes looked at his best friend almost pleadingly to accept his point of view. Vasusen, as though in trance jolted out from his anger. He hurriedly pulled up his best friend and embraced him saying,"Suyo! It's alright. I... Oh Damn! I lost my temper there! Sorry...sorry .. I believe you the most!! I know about my friend right??"
Duryodhan's heart gave one big sigh of relief. He embraced his best friend. He just then realised how much his friend meant for him. He heard," See, Suyo! You should've introduced him to me before itself. He might not have felt outcasted! Your friendship and love for him may not be known to him so you... I didn't finish talking, so you better hear me out!
You would've talked about me to him always and now that I came, he would've thought you no longer want him as friend. We should apologize to him. He would have felt very bad to see both of us laughing without even considering him".
Duryodhan nodded his head but said,"But we didn't know where he is..." His words stopped in the middle when Chitraksha said," I know where he is..." All of them looked at him in shock and surprise. Duryodhan gritted his teeth asking," I was asking you for the whole day Chitraksha, we are searching for him and you decided to keep mum... WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??"
Chitraksha gulped but got down from his horse facing his elder brother standing beside his brother Karn for safety. He looked at his brother directly to his eyes and defiantly said,"Because he didn't deserve your friendship, Bhrata!!"
The silent was so thick and Duryodhan was glaring at his little brother with blazing eyes. Vasusen was absolutely bewildered by this statement. He pulled and turned Chitraksha forcefully towards him asking,"What happened to you Chitraksha? Are you mad? Why would you say like this?"
But Chitraksha decided to be silent. His eyes were downcast but he raised his head when he heard Karn's voice,"Don't you dare to ignore me! Answer now. Speak up Chitraksha!" Chitraksha slowly said,"Because he thought brother Duryodhan is using him for the sake of entertainment and also he thought since you came, Bhrata Duryodhan will leave him in streets by burning his friendship with Ashwa!!"
Duryodhan and Karn looked at each other in complete shock. Duryodhan asked,"What made you to say like that?" Chitraksha explained about the conversation happened between Pandavas and Ashwathama in the arena.
Chitraksha looked at his brother continuing,"I thought he will defend yourself, himself, Kauravas and Bhrata Karn's honour and respect but he just stood there numbly for sometime muttering something to himself and move towards forest. I think he might be there, I think so"
Duryodhan felt anger, sadness, frustration and madness within himself trying to break out of his system. A heavy hatred settled in his heart for Arjun, Bhim and Nakul. Karn sneered mentally at the Pandavas's immaturity. Duryodhan's legs gave up. He was tired. No one understand him. How can Ashwathama go just like that not giving a perfect reply to Pandavas? He sat in the nearby shrine with a thump and heavy heart. Is he really that much bad friend??
On the other hand, Vasusen really felt bad for his best friend. He now understood both the friends point of view. Of ourse, the future king of Champa and Magadha calculated both their mentalities accurately. He looked Duryodhan saying,"Come on Mitr! Time to take care of one friend!" Duryodhan's droopy eyes looked at him dejectedly. Vasusen shook his head before pulling Duryodhan up and made him mount on his horse. Karn whistled shouting,"VAYUJIT! COME HERE BOY... WE'VE GOT ONE MISSION TO FINISH OFF!"
A bright black handsome and majestic horse gallop towards karna who patted its head softly before mounting on it. The horse gave one cheer of neigh for his master before galloping towards the forest resulting every other Kauravas to follow him. Duryodhan patted his horse towards forest muttering,"You are in a great trouble, Ashwathama".
