"How could you do something like that?" I yelled, tears brimming my eyes as I attempted to blink them back, anger resting in both of our eyes as another screaming match was held in the living room.
"It wasn't my fault, Jade, I didn't mean to!" Shawn yelled back, his body fuming with anger as he tried to convince me that it was merely a drunken kiss.
We had been out last night, celebrating Shawn's album release, when I returned from the washroom, only to find him locking lips with his ex. The car ride home was silent as he would occasionally turn to look at me; guilt and regret filling his eyes. Upon arriving home, the shouting began as soon as the front door shut.
"How was that not your fault, Shawn? You didn't pull away," I shook my head.
"Okay, you just need to calm down," he said, raising his eyebrows, as I stared at him in shock.
"Calm down?" I repeated, "I'll calm down when you can stay faithful to your girlfriend!"
"Baby, it was just a kiss, I was probably drunk-"
"She's your ex, Shawn, how do you expect me to feel about that?" I asked, tears rolling down my cheeks.
"So what if she's my ex?" He shrugged, throwing his hands up, his voice getting louder, "neither of us took it seriously, and if you'd shut up long enough for me to explain, you'd understand!"
"God," he mumbled, "at least she's not a bitch all the time,"
"You know what, there's nothing I need you to explain," I stormed off to my room, packing things in a small suitcase, "and I'm sorry I'm such a bitch," I scoffed.
Shawn quickly followed me, grabbing my suitcase and dumping out the contents as I yelled for him to stop.
"Baby girl," he sighed, "you know I didn't mean that."
"Then why would you say it, huh?" I asked, as I angrily shoved clothes and other items back in.
"I-I don't know," he whispered, "but please don't leave. I need you, I-I love you."
Grabbing my belongings and heading for the front door, I opened it, rolling my suitcase out behind me.
"Please," he begged, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"I've had enough of this," I shook my head, the both of us now standing outside in the darkness of the night. The cool air hitting my skin as I shivered a bit.
"Please, baby girl, don't go," he sobbed, grabbing onto my arm as I quickly yanked it away.
"Go back to her, Shawn. After all, she isn't a bitch all the time, right?" I replied with a sarcastic laugh, still crying as my voice cracked a bit.
"Please don't go, baby. I messed up, I know but I can fix it, we can-"
"I think I've heard enough," I whispered, walking towards my car and throwing my stuff into the passenger seat, "goodbye, Shawn."
