10.000 reads celebration!

A, N: And here it is. The gift for celebrating 10.000 reads of my Zexal book 4 stories. At least on Q. Haven't exactly checked the other websites I post. But whatever. To celebrate I have created a Pokémon mystery dungeon/Yugioh Zexal crossover. It is only a prologue, but hope you like it.

"Woah! It is... Something is happening! Waah!".

"Are you okay? You just have to hold on a little while longer".

"N-o. I... I can't. Something is ripping me... I am slipping!".

"No! We are almost there. NO! Don't leave!".

It was a night like no other. No Pokémon in this world was outside because a terrible thunderstorm was raging. The ocean was almost flooding the beaches and all the Pokémon were hiding indoors in their make-out homes, wherever that was. However, two silhouettes were not, as they were traveling a great distance to gain footing. However, certain events caused them to part away. This is where our story begins.

Time skip.

At an ominous ancient place, where a tent shaped like a Flygon is standing, was a little Chimchar standing meters away from the entrance and staring worriedly at it. His name was Yuma, and he was known as the son of the great adventures of Kazuma and Mira. That was why there was so much pressure on this little chimp Pokémon since everyone expected him to follow in his now-death parents' footsteps. Sure, Yuma wanted to be an explorer, just like his old man. There was just a tiny problem. He was a big scaredy cat! After all, he was afraid of even entering the big known Flygon guild, where many explorer teams had been formed. They were even having a training program for total newbies like Yuma. If he just dared to enter.

"NO! I refuse to be scared by this any longer. This is it. I have to steel my courage today and enter!" He then shouted with great bravura and stepped forward on a grate built over a hole in the ground. As he did a voice then suddenly shouted.

"Pokémon detected. Pokémon detected. The footprints are Chimchar's. The footprints are Chimchar's". That of course spooked the Chimchar to no end. So much in fact that he moved away from the grate.

"That... that was too shocking!" Yuma exclaimed as he sighed deeply "Whew. I can't... I can't work up my courage to go in after all. I told myself that today was the day, but...My parents must be so disappointed in me".

Yuma sighed as he pulled forward the necklace he was wearing. It was the last relic from his parents, given to him the day his parents died. In some way, it was supposed to give him the courage to make his dreams come true. His father wanted him to discover its secrets one day. That was at least what his father had described it as in the letter he received before their death. It was first there Yuma realized they were truly gone from this world.

"I thought that holding onto my golden key would inspire me, but...I still couldn't do it. I am such a coward".

Yuma sighed again before he decided to leave this place. He felt too depressed to attempt any further. Instead, he decided to go to the beach, one of his favorite places to be when he was down. What he didn't know was that two devious Pokémon were watching him.

"Hey Coyote, did you get a load of that?".

"You bet I did, Jackal".

"That little wimp that was pacing around had something good, right?".

"That wimp had something for sure. It was golden and everything. Could be some kind of treasure".

"So, are we going after him?".

"Of course. You know the boss. He loves anything golden that can make a fortune. If we bring it to him, I am sure he will be pleased". They both chuckled darkly as they followed the little chimp Pokémon.

At the beach.

Yuma was met with a beautiful sunset as he reached the beach. Several Krabby's were blowing 'bubbles' and made this sight even more spectacular. Yuma sighed in contentment as he watched the display happen. The bubbles hitting the water surface of the ocean along with the sunset were so pretty. Just seeing this cheered him up.

"When the weather is this good, the Krabby's always come out at sundown to blow their bubbles. I missed it yesterday because of this terrible storm. Wonder what that was all about", Yuma mused to himself and sighed again. "I always come here when I feel sorry for myself. This view always cheers me up".

Yuma sighed again before he lets his gaze wander, and suddenly he noticed something weird. At one of the small boulders, was a particular color catching his interest.

"Hu? That boulder wasn't supposed to be blue...". He walked a bit further and now his eyes widened in poor horror before rushing to the scene. "Oh my gosh. Someone passed out here. Hey, hey! Are you okay? Please answer! Oh, I just hope they are okay."

"Hey! Hey! Are you okay? Please answer!".

That was the first word I heard before I groggily opened my eyes. I was met with a particular sight as I noticed a little Chimchar beside me. They looked extremely worried and were clearly in panic.

"Oh, I just hope they are okay. I don't know any nursery Pokémon around here. I could take it to Heartland city, but... are you even supposed to move a sick injured...".

In just that moment I decided I had enough of his whining and tackled him. I intended to push him away a little but guess I didn't know my strength. The result, however, was that the little fire Pokémon hit the sandy ground pretty hard. Ups!

"Hu?" The Chimchar uttered rather surprised as he hit the ground, but surprisingly he was quick to recover "You are awake! I am so relieved!".

I did sweat drop a little at that. I attacked this weird Chimchar and the only thing he did was being relieved that I was okay. Either this Pokémon were extremely docile or just extremely dense. I would have hit him back if it was me. Luckily, that didn't seem to be the case. Instead, I took the time to take in my surroundings. By the looks of it, I was on what was known as a beach, but no matter how much I tried to remember I had no clue why I was lying there. I could remember the sound of thunder though.

"You weren't moving at all. I was seriously worried. Do you know why you were lying here unconscious?" I could then hear this Chimchar ask.

All I could do was shake my head because I had no clue. That of course had the Chimchar worry more.

"Don't tell me you were caught in the storm last night? Maybe you were caught at sea or something?" the Pokémon then concluded thoughtfully, but then suddenly sent me a cheerful smile. "Well, no matter. You are okay now and that's what matters". At that, I did sweat drop again. Talk about optimism...

"My name is Yuma by the way. Happy to meet yer. What is yours? I've never seen you around here before".

...Not to mention seriously chatty. We had just met. This Pokémon was greeting me like I was its best friend or something. What an oddball. However, then I remembered the question he had been asking me and once again I couldn't recall anything. Besides my name that is. It took me seconds to realize what that meant. Was I having amnesia?

"My name is Zaira, but I don't know where I am from," I finally responded. The way this Chimchar was looking at me with those hopeful eyes gave me the creeps.

"Hu? Don't know? What do you mean with...? Don't tell me you are having amnesia?!" this Yuma was suddenly saying. All of which made me roll my eyes.

"Yeah, genius. That is properly it" I responded and wondered how slow he was.

"Ah okay um... my mom always told me you should stay calm and try to... say something that could remind the person of who they were. Yes, something like that", Yuma then uttered which only made me even more confused. "Um... um you know you are a Riolu right? You know the wolf-fighting Pokémon. Father says they have an aura, whatever that is...".

To say that I was surprised was an understatement. I of course knew what an Riolu was. I mean how dense does this fire Pokémon think I am? However, I never pictured myself as a Riolu. Not in a million years.

"You... you sure? You not just pulling a trick on me?" I then asked.

"Hu? Why would I? Did you think you were something else? Just take a look in the ocean water and you will see I speak the truth", Yuma then said which of course made me growl rather annoyed.

No one was telling me what to do and especially not insinuating that he knew me. That was for sure. That said, his question about me being something else did hit me pretty hard. Was I even a Riolu? The species sounded so wrong to me. However, sadly, when I was looking at the reflection in the water, the look of a real-life Riolu was looking back at me. I must admit I panicked inside. Why was I a Riolu? I was sure I was... something else? I shook my head. According to this Chimchar Yuma, I was having amnesia so maybe I had forgotten I was a Riolu? The Pokémon part did not surprise me. It just felt right that I was one.

"Well, well what do we have here?".

"It looks like treasure".

Yuma and I turned surprised around to find a Zubat and Koffing behind us. They were staring at a weird-looking key that was lying on the ground.

"Ah, wait...".

Yuma was suddenly patting himself all over. Then he was staring in panic at the Pokémon in front of him.

"That... that is mine! I must have dropped it".

"Well, you know what they say, finders keepers...", the Zubat said and grinned.

"...And losers weepers" the Koffing finished. They chuckled darkly.

"But... but... my parents gave that to me. It is my personal treasure," Yuma whined.

"Really? Well, if you want it back that badly, you have to fight us for it," Zubat said.

"Eh?! But, but...". Yuma looked completely out of it.

"What is the matter? Too scared?" Koffing challenged. Yuma let out a tiny cry before he was suddenly looking down at his feet.

"Never thought the son of the greatest adventures was such a chicken. Come on Coyote. Let's see if we can sell this. The boss would be pleased" Koffing said.

"Right. Coming Jackal" the Zubat said and chuckled. "See you later wimps".

They both intended to scuttle off to who knows where, but I was not letting them. They behaved horribly. That and I might be to blame for this Chimchar dropping his treasure in the first place when I accidentally tackled him earlier. The least I could do was get it back for him.

"Huh? What's the matter, sweet cake?" Koffing alias Jackal asked. "Oh, I know. You want to hang out with us instead of that wimp over there. I would be honored to...".

And with fast steps, I tackled him to the ground. Even though I had amnesia, my instincts were razor-sharp. That and I just hated being hit on.

"Why you little..." Zubat sneered and tried to attack me with some kind of move. I of course moved out of the way and soon planted my teeth in his wing.

"Aw! Let go!" Coyote yelled and tossed me off his wing. I hit the ground pretty hard.

"Now you have done it". Jackal and Koffing began surrounding me.

"Wow, you can use... Quick attack and Bite already," I could hear Yuma exclaim surprised in the background. It annoyed me to no end.

"Don't just stand there!" I hissed at Yuma. "Use a move! Unless you don't want your treasure back".

"Ah... eh right" Yuma exclaimed and finally joined the fight.

Which ended up being a simple scratch attack. It barely did a den on Jackal. It had me sweat drop. How under-level was this Chimchar? Though it did distract both of them enough for me to kick their asses with two swift quick attacks.

Soon the Koffing and Zubat were lying on the sandy ground groaning.

"Do you give up, or do you want more?" Yuma surprisingly exclaimed with a threatened fist. That had me sweat drop again. Talk about a change in his attitude now that the tide has turned.

"We... we will remember this!", Coyote exclaimed fearfully.

"Yeah, we will tell our boss about this, and then he will beat you to smithereens" Jackal added.

However, soon they were running away with their tail between their legs. That had me huffing in annoyance before turning my attention to Yuma. I was holding his strange-looking key towards him.

"OMG, you were so amazing!" Yuma uttered. He was holding his hands in mine. "You were like woosh and they bam they were beaten. Just like that!".

"Yeah, well I was to blame for you dropping it in the first place" I admitted.

"Huh? You did?" Yuma questioned bewildered. "Well, it is no big deal. You helped me get it back again. You are amazing". I couldn't help but sweat drop a bit by that. Talk about carefree Pokémon.

"You are welcome I guess" I mused and then added. "You are not very strong, are you? What are your moves? Scratch and leer?". Surprisingly Yuma blushed.

"Um, Ehehe yeah" he admitted sheepishly. "I know I am not that strong yet, but one day I will be. For sure".

He was holding up the weird-shaped pendant we got back from the bullies earlier. It was in golden colors and could almost look like a key.

"This is what they tried to steal from me earlier. It is called the golden key. Or at least that is what my father said it was in his last letter to me" Yuma told me. "You see my parents were great explorers. There was nothing they couldn't do. Or at least I thought so. A while back they died on an exploration. But they left me this key". He let out a deep sigh of sadness.

"I want to follow in my parent's footsteps and uncover the secrets of this key. That's why I want to join an exploration team and search the world. It must fit somewhere". He let out another big sigh.

"That was why I tried to join an explorer team as an apprentice earlier... but I chickened out" Yuma admitted and sighed again. Then he looked at me. "I am sorry I am laying all this on you. We just met, but... you are so easy to talk to and...".

"Yeah... my ears are ringing" I complained with a huff.

But at the same time, there was just something over this Pokémon that made me stay. I had lost my memories and well I couldn't quite remember anything. Was I having family or friends waiting for me somewhere? They must be sick with worry. If I had any that is. This was so confusing.

"Zaira? Zaira? Did you hear what I said?" Yuma then suddenly said.

"Huh? Oh, I guess I was lost in thoughts" I admitted. Yuma just chuckled.

"No biggie. It happens to me all the time" he replied and send me a happy smile. "But let me try again. Zaira, do you want to form an exploration team with me? Please".

"Huh? Why are you asking that so suddenly?" I asked.

"Well, you have lost your memories, right? Do you even know where your home is?" He asked at first. Then continued "If not, then how about becoming my exploration partner? At Flygon's guild, we can be explorer apprentices together. A lot of Pokémon will be coming there. Maybe they will know something about you. And then... then I wouldn't be all alone. We can be alone together, so what do you say?".

Once again, I did sweat drop. Talk about straightforward. It was clear that this chimp Pokémon was scared of entering this guild alone. That said his proposal was not bad. I had no idea where to go and he did say a lot of Pokémon would be there. Teaming up with him couldn't be the worst thing in the world.

"Sure, why not" I then said. Yuma lit up like lights on a Christmas tree.

"Yes! Thank you! Thank you so much. We will be the best of friends!". He was hugging me while telling me all about this guild and the apprenticeship they were having. Not to mention how tough it was going to be. Guess I didn't know what I have signed up for. Just great!

And so, Yuma and Zaira formed an exploration team. They had no clue that this would turn out to be one heck of an adventure.

A, N: And that is the end of it for now. Do wonder if you liked it. I have been thinking of doing the story for a while, and when the 10.000 reads were just around the corner, I decided to test-run it. So, what do you think? Should I make this an official story? If so, I will have to write a chapter first to fit with the prologue, but if people aren't interested, I won't bother with the effect. Please comment on what you think.
