AUTHOR POV

[ Years ago ]

Y/n sat on the couch, her demeanor reflecting a mixture of anger and sadness. Her gaze was fixed on an indeterminate point, her thoughts seemingly consumed by a weight she couldn't shake off. The heaviness in the air was palpable, mirroring the turmoil within her.

Seeing Y/n in this state, Namjoon approached her with care, his presence a gentle reassurance. He sat beside her, his eyes filled with concern and a touch of adoration for her fiery spirit. Despite her anger, he couldn't help but find her captivating in her vulnerability.

"Y/n," Namjoon called out softly, his voice tender and laced with understanding. He reached out to touch her shoulder, seeking to offer his comfort, but she recoiled, pushing him away. His heart sank at the rejection, a flicker of hurt crossing his features, but he quickly masked it with a gentle smile.

Undeterred, Namjoon glanced toward his mother, who stood nearby, silently acknowledging their unspoken understanding. There was a shared history between them, a recognition of the depths of Y/n's emotions and the delicate nature of the situation. With a silent nod exchanged between them, Namjoon approached Y/n once again.

Taking a step forward, Namjoon positioned himself in front of Y/n, his eyes searching her face for any sign of a breakthrough. He understood that her anger stemmed from a place of pain, and he was determined to be there for her, even if it meant weathering the storm of her emotions.

"Hey," Namjoon spoke softly, his voice a gentle plea. "What happened? Talk to me"

He reached out, his hand hovering hesitantly in the air, ready to offer solace if she would accept it. He hoped that through his unwavering support, he could help her find a way to express her inner turmoil and perhaps begin to heal the wounds that plagued her.

Y/n's anger surged within her, fueling her actions as she abruptly stood up from the couch. The frustration in her voice was palpable as she addressed Namjoon.

"Mom said to him not to talk to me," Y/n exclaimed, her tone laced with defiance and resentment. Her words revealed the depth of the internal conflict she was experiencing, torn between her emotions and the wishes of her mother.

Y/n stormed into her room, anger radiating from every fiber of her being. Her footsteps echoed through the space as she forcefully closed the door behind her. She could feel Namjoon's presence lingering behind, following her into the room. His footsteps were hesitant, as if he were unsure of how to proceed.

"Why can't you just leave me alone?" Y/n's voice cracked with emotion, her frustration and anger bubbling to the surface. She turned around to face Namjoon, her eyes blazing with intensity.

Namjoon's expression softened, concern etched across his face. He took a step closer, his voice filled with sincerity and love. "Y/n, I understand you're upset, but please, let's talk about this. I don't want to see you like this."

Y/n's nostrils flared as she took in a deep breath, attempting to regain her composure. She crossed her arms over her chest, creating a protective barrier between them. "Talk? What's there to talk about? You're leaving, Mr. Kim Namjoon. Leaving me behind for fifteen months. How am I supposed to accept that?"

Namjoon's eyes glistened with unshed tears, his voice tinged with sorrow. "Y/n, I never wanted to leave you. But serving in the military is something I have to do. It's mandatory, and it's my duty as a citizen."

Tears welled up in Y/n's eyes, her voice quivering with a mix of sadness and anger. "Duty? What about your duty as my brother? Your duty to be here for me? I can't bear the thought of being without you for so long."

Namjoon's voice trembled as he replied, his words filled with genuine remorse. "Y/n, you know how much you mean to me. You're my little sister, and it breaks my heart to leave you. But I hope you understand that sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the greater good."

Y/n's shoulders slumped, her anger slowly dissipating as she let her guard down. She felt a deep ache within her, torn between her love for Namjoon and the resentment she held towards the situation. Her voice quivered with vulnerability. "I know you're right, joonie. It's just so hard to accept."

Namjoon closed the distance between them, gently enveloping Y/n in a warm embrace. His voice was soft, filled with a mix of love and reassurance. "I'll miss you every day, Princess, But remember, this separation doesn't diminish the bond we share. We'll find ways to stay connected, to support each other from a distance."

Y/n clung to Namjoon, tears streaming down her face. The weight of their impending separation felt heavy, but she found solace in his comforting presence. "Promise me you'll come back, Jonnie. Promise me you'll be safe."

Namjoon's grip tightened, his voice filled with determination. "I promise, love. I'll come back to you. We'll make it through this, together."

Y/n and Namjoon held onto each other, seeking solace in their embrace, the door to the room creaked open, revealing their mother standing in the doorway. Her eyes held a mix of concern and understanding as she observed her children, sensing the weight of their emotions hanging in the air.

Their mother took a step forward, her voice gentle yet firm. "Y/n, Namjoon, may I come in?"

Y/n released her grip on Namjoon, wiping away her tears as she nodded in response. Namjoon stood beside her, his eyes still glistening with unshed tears, as they both turned their attention to their mother.

Their mother walked into the room, her presence exuding a calming aura. She approached them, her hand reaching out to brush a stray strand of hair behind Y/n's ear. "My dear children, I know this is a difficult time for both of you."

Y/n sniffled, her voice quivering as she spoke. "Mom, it's just so hard. I don't want joonie to go."

Their mother's gaze softened, her eyes reflecting the love she held for her children. "Y/n, I understand your fears and your pain. But remember, sometimes life calls upon us to make sacrifices for the greater good. Namjoon's service is a part of that."

Namjoon's voice cracked with emotion as he added, "Mom, I also don't want to leave Y/n behind. I don't know who gonna protect her, She is so innocent"

Their mother approached Namjoon, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "My son, your duty lies not only in protecting your family, but also in fulfilling your responsibilities to your country. It is an honorable and necessary path that you've chosen."

Y/n wiped away her tears, her voice filled with a mix of vulnerability and determination. "But Mom, what if something happens to him? What if he gets hurt?"

Their mother's gaze met Y/n's, filled with reassurance and strength. "Y/n, we can't live our lives in constant fear of the unknown. We must have faith in Namjoon's abilities and in the protective measures that are in place. Trust in his training, and believe that he will do everything in his power to return safely."

Namjoon's voice trembled as he spoke, his gratitude evident in his words. "Thank you, Mom. Your words give me strength."

Their mother smiled warmly, her love enveloping them both. "Remember, my dear children, even in times of separation, love transcends physical distance. Stay connected, support one another, and cherish the moments you have together. The bond between siblings is unbreakable."

Y/n and Namjoon nodded, finding comfort in their mother's words. They knew the road ahead would be challenging, but with their mother's guidance and their love for each other, they felt a glimmer of hope in the midst of their sorrow.

As their mother enveloped them both in a heartfelt embrace, a sense of unity washed over them. Together, they would navigate the journey that lay ahead, supporting one another and finding strength in the unbreakable bond of family.

[ NEXT DAY ]

The next day arrived, and the weight of the impending separation loomed over Y/n's heart. She stood at the doorstep, watching as Namjoon prepared to depart for his military service. Tears welled up in her eyes, her voice choked with emotion.

"Joonie," Y/n whispered, her voice trembling. "Please stay safe and take care of yourself. I'll miss you every single day you're away."

Namjoon turned to face her, his eyes filled with a mixture of pride and longing. He walked over to Y/n, pulling her into a tight embrace. Y/n buried her face in his shoulder, allowing her tears to flow freely.

"I'll miss you too, My child" Namjoon murmured, his voice filled with a mix of sadness and reassurance. "But remember, this is just a temporary separation. We'll be reunited before you know it."

Y/n clung to him, unwilling to let go. The realization that she would be without her beloved brother, her confidant, for a significant period of time felt overwhelming. She wished she could freeze time, keep him by her side, and shield him from any harm.

Namjoon gently pulled away from the embrace, cupping Y/n's tear-streaked face in his hands. "Listen, Y/n. I need you to be strong for me. I need you to embrace this new journey you're embarking on. Work hard, chase your dreams, and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way."

Y/n nodded, her voice trembling as she replied, "I promise, Joonie. I'll work hard and make you proud. But please, promise me that you'll stay safe and take care of yourself."

Namjoon smiled softly, his eyes filled with unwavering love and determination. "I promise, princess, I'll do everything in my power to stay safe and return to you. Our bond is unbreakable, and it will sustain us through this time apart."

With a final embrace and tearful goodbyes, Namjoon left for his military service. Y/n stood at the doorstep, watching his retreating figure until it disappeared from sight. Her heart ached with longing, but she found solace in the knowledge that their bond would endure, even in the face of separation.

Y/n wiped away her tears, taking a deep breath as she prepared herself for the new chapter ahead. Although the pain of missing Namjoon would be a constant presence, she vowed to carry his love and support with her, allowing it to fuel her determination and strength.

And so, with tear-stained cheeks but a resolute spirit, Y/n embarked on her own journey, carrying her brother's love and guidance in her heart, ready to face the challenges and triumphs that awaited her.
