“n—no!” a heart wrenching sob left your mouth as you watched lucius malfoy taking each blow, trying to save you. you tried to fight the death eater— you really did— but he was too strong.
“please!” tears dropped down your eyes, “please don't kill him!”
you ... you couldn't imagine a life without him. when you saw the death eater throw his injured body around, you crawled towards him, your own leg limping.
“luc!” you sobbed, cradling him into your arms, his blood smearing over you. “p—please!”
you see him open his eyes with a ‘tsk’ and attempt to smile, only to groan in pain again. “it hurts.”
there in the battleground, you laid with his aristocratic head resting on your lap, his blood all over you, your tears dropping down his face. “ssh. it's gonna be fine, baby. keep talking please!”
“i can't ... t—talk—”
taking his hand on yours, you gripped it tight. you were nowhere ready to leave him behind. not now when you've only found him. this ... this must be a nightmare! there is no way lucius would leave you alone. he ... he had promised!
“you've to live, y/n,” his voice was muffled, “you need to survive, and move on, and—and ... be happy. the happiest. just like i am right now.”
“why .. why are you happy now?”
“because,” he attempted a smile, the same smile you loved, “because i get to die in your arms, my little one. the safest place.”
“no, no, no, fuck,” you caressed his pale face, already cold enough, “y—you can't give up on me, please!”
“i’m .. so ... so sorry. you are my heaven o—on earth.”
his tone shreds you apart. he ... he sounds so tired. so lost. the thought of him leaving you alone in this world ... you can't live without him. he is your heartbeat. your safe place. you might as well die with him.
“please don't leave me ... ”
“i need to rest, my love.” he winced and took your hand, kissing and gripping it tight. it's only when his grip loosens that you realise ...
“NO! lucius, please! i love you!”
h—his eyes closed. you gasped, a lone tear dropped down his eyes. he was gone ... the love of your life was gone. only because of one person.
you laid there, his cold, unmoving body resting on you. the coldness in your heart clashes with your emotions. you .. you couldn't let go without avenging his death.
“i can't,” you teared up, “i can't feel your touch, lucius. p—please wake up.”
