Two nurses were holding two little babies. Their tiny bodies, covered in blood, were cleaned before being brought to him. Taehyung would only get a single glance at them before they were taken to the NICU, where they would stay for fifteen days before being handed over to their mother.
Taehyung took the babies in his arms for a brief moment. The nurse started to say something but stopped midway, none of them had the courage to speak to the renowned minister. One of them hesitantly instructed him to sanitize his hands before touching the babies.
Taehyung gently placed the babies back, sanitized his hands, and then took them one by one into his arms again. Bringing them close to his face, he softly recited some incoherent words into their ears, kissed their foreheads softly, and carefully handed them back to the nurses again.
--" The operation is over, sir. Mrs. Kim will be shifted to the cabin shortly. If you could umm—
The doctor hesitated at the end, unsure of how to continue. Taehyung didn’t say anything. He simply pressed a soft kiss onto Jungkook’s forehead and left the room quietly. The heaviness in his chest had eased a little. Holding his princesses close to his heart had taken away half of the pain. He was sure that once he held his wifey in his arms, the rest would disappear too.
Yoongi, Yeonjun, and Soobin had also seen the babies for a moment. In excitement, Soobin had unknowingly clutched Yeonjun’s hand tightly. The younger boy acting emotional, didn't notice until Yeonjun himself suddenly pulled away and frowned.
--" Let go of my hand, dust bin. I don’t trust you. You’re holding my hand now, but in a moment, you’ll be trying to grab my neck. And I refuse to let a two-inch Lilliputian strangle me. If it were a scandal involving lovers, I could handle it, but if it’s a baby scandal, I’ll never be able to show my face again. For God’s sake, let me go.
Soobin jerked his hand away and glared at Yeonjun. With a dramatic eye roll, he snapped,
--" You’re acting as if I’m robbing you of your dignity. Uttering nonsense! And my name is Soobin! If you call me dust bin one more time, I swear I’ll scrub you with soap until you’re squeaky clean. Running away from some lab Grandpa!
With that, Soobin stomped away. Yeonjun watched him leave with an exasperated expression, while Yoongi rubbed his forehead and sighed.
--" What’s wrong with you two? Why do you bicker all day like jealous enemies? And what does ‘running away from some lab grandpa’ even mean? (confused)
--" My skeleton has been donated to a medical lab. That’s why I’m a lab grandpa who ran away from there. (sighs)
--" What?
--" Long story. Forget it, hyung.
--" Hmm.
Namjoon had been at the hospital for five minutes now. Taehyung was sprawled across the luxurious cabin, exhaustion weighing down his entire body. The stress and worries of the day had drained him completely. Seeing his son in such a state, Namjoon felt a pang of sorrow. He wanted to mention the brewing storm back at home, but he held back. His frustration toward Rosa had grown, yet he couldn’t bring himself to hate her. Perhaps that was love.
--" Didn’t want to leave your wife behind? You’re becoming more and more of a wife-obsessed man, Dad. A real man shouldn’t be this much whipped!
Namjoon’s eyes widened. Who was saying this? The very man who spent his entire day circling around his wife like a devoted shadow?
--" I’m just tired, Dad.
Namjoon’s heart softened. He ran a gentle hand through Taehyung’s hair and asked in a calm voice,
--" How’s Jungkook?
--" He’s fine.
--" And my granddaughters?
--" Yeah, they’re also good, Dad. But they’re this tiny.
He gestured with his hand and again started saying with a wide smile gracing on his boxy lips.
--" Can you believe that my daughters, the daughters of Kim Taehyung, came into this world in the size of little baby mice? I could barely even hear their cries. They didn’t even open their eyes to look at me. My Jungkook suffered so much… I swear, I’ll make all of them pay. Every single one of them. They dared to lay a hand on my family, my wifey, they’ll regret it.” (his jaw clenched in anger.)
Namjoon frowned and asked,
--" And you expect me to believe you’ve kept them alive till now huh?
--" They’re just small fry, Dad. The real monsters are still out there. And I’ll make sure each one of them pays, down to the last inch.
--" Forget it. You look exhausted. Get some rest, son.
--" Bringing two daughters into this world is not a small task, Dad! And you, despite having two grandchildren yourself, walk around like a clueless, virgin father! You’ve ruined my respect in the eyes of citizens. What’s the point of this life now? I’m only alive because of my wifey. Otherwise, I would’ve donated myself to the people’s charity box.
Namjoon stormed out of the room. Showing even a sliver of sympathy for this son of his was the biggest mistake of his life.

Jungkook had regained consciousness a little while ago. Ever since he woke up, he had been restless, desperate to see the babies. No matter how much Taehyung tried to calm him down, it wasn’t working. The doctors had strictly instructed that Jungkook shouldn’t move much after the surgery, but right now, he was wriggling like a restless shrimp.
Taehyung’s temper flared. He was about to scold Jungkook harshly but controlled himself at the last moment. Forcing a small smile, he gritted his teeth and said,
--" Lie down quietly, wifey. If you make me lose my temper, it won’t be good. Don’t be so impatient about the babies. You’ll get to experience this feeling again and again, trust me. Your husband has a big heart, he’ll make sure you become the mumma of twins again. Now, close your eyes and sleep, sweetheart. Once you’re a little better, I’ll take you to see our fairies. But first, give me a kiss. I’m suffering from severe kiss deficiency.
Jungkook momentarily forgot his pain and frustration, turning to glare at Taehyung with pure murder in his eyes. His lower body was still numb, but once he recovered, the first thing he would do was beat this man up to his heart’s content. What an unbearable human being he is!
Seeing Jungkook’s I’m-going-to-kill-you look, Taehyung awkwardly glanced around before clearing his throat and sighing dramatically.
--" Why are you looking at me like that? Do you even know how worried I was? Do you have any idea how many times I paced up and down this hallway? My personal, deeply cherished heart almost jumped out of my chest because of you! Do you know how hard I had to fight to keep it in? And now you’re glaring at me? Where is humanity? Where is justice? I swear, I need to file an official complaint with the Human Rights Commission. Now, I’m offering my cheek—just kiss me quietly. Or else, I can take it by force.
Jungkook shut his eyes, completely ignoring the minister. He had neither the energy nor the desire to argue. This man’s mouth ran like an unstoppable train - once it started, it didn’t stop.
Seeing Jungkook close his eyes, Taehyung smirked in victory. Finally, some peace. Now, this was talent. Other husbands should learn from him. If only he had the time, he could open a coaching center—helping poor, suffering husbands train their wives. What a noble public service that would be.
Yeonjun texted Taehyung, asking him to come outside. Taehyung hadn’t eaten anything in the past two days. On top of that, the pain in his chest was growing worse. The doctor had prescribed several tests, but the minister had been glued to Jungkook’s cabin beside his wifey, refusing to leave for even a second.
Yoongi had stayed with them all day yesterday but left in the morning with Soobin to go home. He planned to return in the evening after finishing work. Taehyung had canceled all upcoming political meetings for the next few days, and Namjoon would be handling office matters in his absence.
Upon receiving Yeonjun’s message, Taehyung stepped out of the cabin. Exhaustion was evident in his blood drained face and posture, and Yeonjun himself looked equally drained.
--" I brought your clothes, sir. Please freshen up and eat something. The food is ready. You also need to get your tests done. Please don’t refuse this time.
Hearing Yeonjun’s pleading voice, Taehyung gave a faint smile. Looking up at the sky with weary eyes, he spoke in a melancholic tone,
--" Why do people fail to see the love in someone’s eyes, Jun? Eyes are the mirror of the soul, aren’t they? But my beloved can't see the love, the pain, the hurt reflected in mine. How am I supposed to accept this defeat? Let him hurt me, let him push me away, I’ll endure it. But how do I bear the fact that he doesn’t understand the language of my eyes? The person who rules my heart gives me nothing but emptiness in return. It’s unbearable. You know, since childhood, I’ve only ever received neglect. I’m exhausted from carrying the weight of being overlooked by my own people. Tell me, Jun, which of my wounds will you heal? My dearest ones wound me over and over again. Wounds need balm to heal, but if the same spot keeps getting struck, how will it ever recover? Forget all this. Go home and rest. If I need anything, I’ll call you.
With that, Taehyung turned and walked back to Jungkook’s cabin again. Yeonjun stood there in silence, his heart aching. He understood Taehyung’s pain. He had been a shadow behind his sir for years, witnessing every sleepless night. He had seen how Taehyung, a strong and composed man, would break down and cry on the balcony in the middle of the night. Watching him in such agony for his love had often brought tears to Yeonjun’s own eyes.
Every word Jungkook spoke hurt Taehyung deeply. Even though Taehyung pretended to brush it off with a smile, Yeonjun knew the truth—his sir was drinking poison behind that wide smile.
Sometimes, Yeonjun felt sorry for Jungkook. He was oblivious to the love he was being showered with. If one day he lost Taehyung, he would cry bitterly, but it would be too late.
After the long waited fifteen days, Jungkook was finally able to hold his twins daughters. He himself wasn’t fully recovered yet, which was why he was still in the hospital.
Namjoon visited his granddaughters every day, but Rosa hadn’t come even once. Jin had visited a few times, but Taehyung had firmly requested him to stay at home. Jin's only job now was to keep an eye on Rosa—there would be no more leniency toward her.
Holding the babies in his arms, Jungkook couldn't hold back his tears. Taehyung watched his princesses with eyes full of emotion. Perhaps this was the happiest moment of his life.
A nurse came in and gently suggested that Jungkook should feed the babies. He fidgeted uncomfortably, sneaking glances at Taehyung before quickly lowering his eyes. However, the minister kept his sharp gaze fixed on Jungkook. When the nurse insisted again, the younger hesitated before mumbling,
--" Ask others to leave.
It was as if Taehyung had been waiting for those words. Without breaking his serious expression, he firmly ordered the nurse,
--" Out.
The nurse, sensing his authority, left without a word. Jungkook was stunned.
--" I meant you!
--" Why would you need her when I’m here? I’ll help you. There’s no privacy between us, wifey. These moments are very precious. In your pain and happiness, I am your only partner. You don’t need anyone else but me.
As he spoke, Taehyung stepped closer, offering his support while standing protectively beside Jungkook.
--" Does it hurt to sit?
Jungkook shook his head, not trusting his voice. When he met Taehyung’s eyes, his heart wavered. It was hard to believe that this man had killed his father. But Taehyung’s unpredictable nature and his own confession kept twisting Jungkook’s thoughts into chaos. He felt like he was losing himself in this turmoil.
If Taehyung truly was his father’s murderer, Jungkook would make sure he suffered unimaginable pain. He just needed the right evidence. A single diary wasn’t enough proof. As for Taehyung’s confession, believing the words of a man like him was as foolish as hitting his own head against a wall.
He was a monster.
--" I should have been a doctor, Jungkook. That doctor cut my wifey’s stomach open right in front of me, and I could only stand there and watch! If I had been a doctor, would I have had to witness this nightmare? Your stomach, my wifey’s precious stomach was mine to protect. And yet, a mere doctor had the audacity to cut it open! If not for my princesses, I would have slit that doctor’s stomach in return. Can you believe it? Minister Kim Taehyung’s wife was cut open like that! The audacity!
Jungkook looked at him with exhausted eyes. He was ranting again.
Only those closest to Taehyung's ever heard this unbearable nonsense. To the outside world, Taehyung was a composed, fearsome minister. But here, he was something else entirely.
Jungkook chose to stay silent. Once the babies were fed, Taehyung carefully placed them in their cradle, his touch surprisingly gentle. His phone buzzed, it was from his men. He needed to go get Jungkook’s surprise ready.
Before leaving, Taehyung glanced at Jungkook, offering a faint, weary smile.
Little did he know, the very person he was smiling at would soon take that smile away forever.
