Narrator POV
(Y/N) had lead Giyuu up the hill she lived on. On the way, they didn't really speak to each other. Not that the girl had minded, she was just happy to have met a new person that she could possibly call a friend. The male on the other hand was questioning how and why was he being shown kindness, especially by someone whom he had never met before. Giyuu thought (Y/N) was quite interesting.
For starters, she seemed to have a genuine kindness to her, and he is glad that he took up her offer. But also for the fact that she didn't seem to look like anybody on the demon infested island they lived on. Sure he had met people with different hair colors and such, but he could always tell that they were Japanese.
On the way to her house, he too didn't mind the silence between them. But part of him wished he could strike up a conversation with her, just like he used to with an old friend of his. He deemed her as an approachable person, although he himself didn't believe he would have approached her even she hadn't bumped into him. And that she would approach him at all either. His negative thoughts came back and he cursed himself mentally for it. The girls thoughts on Giyuu were actually quite the opposite.
She deemed him to be quite an interesting person as well. From his strange looking uniform to his torn haori and his scabbard where assumingly his sword was supposed to be.
'I wonder what happened to him? Should I ask if has any injuries perhaps? I wouldn't be surprised if he did, considering the state his haori is in. He seems to have had a sword, I wonder what happened to it?'
(Y/N) let her thoughts wonder about the male and what he could have possibly been doing before she bumped into him.
------------------------------------------------------------
It was a bit after midday when (Y/N) and Giyuu arrived at her house.
"Welcome, Tomioka. Please make yourself comfortable, you may sit by my table where the cushions are. I will be right back, I just have to put my things away and get my sewing kit. I'll start on your haori right away!"
Giyuu went towards the table and cushions that she mentioned and sat down. He was surprised to find that they were quite comfortable. Giyuu watched (Y/N) bustle around her home, putting away her things that she had bought in the village (in some cupboards that she had) and then entering a room, probably to get the sewing kit she said she had. Sure enough she came back with it and she had taken off the purple scarf she wore. (Y/N) set her equipment on the table and then made her way to the fire place to put more wood in to warm up her house some more.
She turned around smiling at Giyuu and asked, "Can I offer you anything to drink, Tomioka? Tea perhaps?"
Giyuu answered back hesitantly, not wanting to trouble the girl even more.
"Yes, that would be quite nice actually."
(Y/N) nodded and started preparing some tea. She set a pot of water over the fire which had grown bigger. Then she got some tea leaves and put them in the pot to soak and get the flavor for the tea. After a few minutes it was ready, and (Y/N) poured herself and Giyuu the warm liquid.
Giyuu mumbled a small 'thank you' and (Y/N) smiled back in return.
"Now, if you don't mind, may I have a look at your haori?"
Giyuu had almost forgotten her original request as to why he agreed to come here. He complied and gave his half half piece of clothing to her.
"Incase you feel a bit cold without it, I can bring some blankets."
"It's alright, thank you for thought, (L/N)."
"Of course! And please, call me (Y/N), although I'm quite comfortable with formalities, I like to be addressed by my first name."
'So formalities are thing overseas -or wherever she's from- as well.' he thought.
"Then you may address me by mine as well."
'That's so nice of him!'
(Y/N) took a good look at Giyuu's haori. There were some light tears by the sleeves and at the bottom of it, but the biggest issue was the multiple holes down the middle. She could tell that his treasured mismatched piece of clothing was obviously made out of two halves of a haori.
"Is your haori perhaps made out of two halves of two different haoris?"
Giyuu nodded, not looking at her.
"That's a good idea you had, Giyuu. Although they are both poorly sewn together which explains why there are so many holes down the middle. Not to worry though, it should be easy to fix." the (h/c) -ette said.
The blue eyed male was actually very glad that his haori could be fixed properly. After all its something he treasured deeply. The beautiful dark red side of it belonging to his older sister, whom had protected him during a demon attack. And the geometrical designed half belonged to his friend, whom he had actually lost recently after completing final selection.
Giyuu still mourns the two but carries on in his newfound profession; Demon Slaying. He was in town for a mission, having there been said to be a demon hunting children for the past two weeks. Obviously he succeeded but it cost him breaking his sword and damaging his haori. He had just been on his way to the next closest Wisteria house, when he felt someone bumping into him.
And now he's here, with this strange but kind foreign girl, who has shown him nothing but hospitality. He was grateful.
"Thank you." he said softly. (Y/N) looked up at him questioningly.
"Mmm? Sorry, did you say something?"
"Thank you, for your kindness. Even if I'm someone you don't know and probably don't deserve it."
She looked at him in surprise. 'Of course he deserves kindness.'
"Of course you deserve it. You looked a little lost when I bumped into you so I deemed you needed help. Plus, I read somewhere that some strangers are just new friends waiting to be made."
Giyuu looked to be in shock. (Y/N)'s words had surprised him for sure. 'She thinks I'm deserving of it? New friends?'
(Y/N) thinking she had disturbed Giyuu quickly apologized, "I'm sorry! That sounded quite cheesy didn't it? I'm not that used to talking to new people all the time, I didn't mean to disturb you."
She bowed her head in apology and in slight embarrassment. 'Now he must think I'm weird.'
Though the blue eyed male thought the complete opposite. The more he interacted with her, the more he saw the people he had cherished so much and lost in her. It made him feel safe and familiar with her. 'Could I really make friends even after Sabito's death? Could I really find people to consider family as I once did with my sister?'
"(Y/N)."
Said girl looked up from her embarrassed state, wondering what the male would say next.
"I really mean what I said, thank you.", there was a small smile on his face when he said that. He was sincere with his words. Sabito and his sister wouldn't want him moping around. So he decided he would keep living for them.
"Well Giyuu, you're welcome."
--------------------------------------------------
Giyuu ended up staying quite a bit at (Y/N)'s house. His haori was now fixed and looked as good as new. He thanked his newfound friend that she was able to repair his prized possession. Of course which ended up in (Y/N) asking why it was so precious to him.
"The halves belonged to some special people to me." he had told her. He only explained that they were people he had lost, and (Y/N) respected that it was still a tough topic for him to discuss so she left her curiosity at that. 'Perhaps another time.'
Of course Giyuu was interested in knowing where (Y/N) was from.
"I'm actually not quite sure myself." she responded. "My parents were both from different parts of the world. They travelled quite a bit, but after I was born they decided to settle in Europe."
Giyuu was actually very invested in her story, he had never met foreigner before. The two kept talking and Giyuu would be lying if he didn't say he was surprised for how much he spoke with her.
It got late and he still wanted to get to the Wisteria house. In truth he didn't want to leave but something was also quite eerie about (Y/N)'s home. He couldn't tell what it was, but it seemed like some sort of presence that lingered. It was strong but it seemed to be lightly faded away. It was concerning to him. He didn't think it came from the foreign girl.
"Are you sure you have to go?" asked (Y/N) saddened that her new friend was going to leave.
"Yes, it's quite important to my work that I get to a certain place."
The (h/c)-ette sighed, "Well please be safe, and I hope we'll meet again."
"Yes, and thank you again."
The two said their last goodbyes, hoping to see each other again soon.
------------------------------------------------
A/N
Giyuu didn't tell (Y/N) about losing Sabito and his sister to demons because he was unsure of he should and what he reaction could've been and he didn't want her to think he was crazy
Part of (Y/N)'s backstory has been revealed but it still doesn't explain how she came to Japan, that will be revealed later on
(Y/N) still doesn't know about the Demon Slayer Corps
I'm not trying to change Giyuu's personality completely, he just felt comfortable with (Y/N) because she reminded him of people he felt the same comfortability with. I'm still debating if he should maybe have some friends or not...we'll see!
Edit: Giyuu like the (to him) strange instruments that (Y/N) had
Hope you enjoyed! ^^
