Hello everyone. Here is the next chapter. Here's a warning. There are elements in this chapter that belong to the Inheritance Cycle, which I do not claim credit for. I give credit to Fybarekuk for suggesting the idea, which will appear in this chapter, and to everyone else who thought up these ideas. Once again, I only own my own characters. Not Dragon Prince, Lord of the Rings, The Inheritance Cycle or any other movie and book elements which have been appearing in this story. I take no credit for them. Just following reviewers' requests. One more note, I am going to change one of the Spirit Guides for the previous two chapters in order to add another book franchise element. In the meantime, enjoy the chapter.

Rex Igneous lay inside his lair, his tail coiled around a small but heavy green egg with golden crystals growing out of it like a cactus. "My little one, I hope you will be a beautiful dragon, just like your mother,". He tilted his head towards a small set of gates on the other side of the room. "The team are yet to arrive,".
.......................................................................................................................
Loud flapping wings woke Willow. As her eyes opened, she found herself lying on wood and not rock. "What the...". Hoots filled her ears. She looked up and saw ginormous birds, the size of dragons, all different colours with razor-sharp beaks. Some of them wore helmets of pure silver and knives strapped to their talons. They were soaring around a magnificent tree, the tallest and richest in green she had ever seen, and the sun's rays were dancing gracefully between its branches.
"This is the Great Tree of Gahoole," hooted a voice. Willow turned around and saw Grimble land before her, exactly the same size as her. "In this realm, to walk among us, you must be as one of us,".
The owls weren't giant. Willow realised she had shrunk to their size. "Wow. It's...beautiful. I never knew such a place could exist,".
"There are trillions of words out there, young one. Worlds filled with magic and endless possibilities unlike your own,".
"My family and I have been seeing visions of people from other worlds. I've been keeping a dream journal about them, but I've never dreamed of seeing owl warriors before,".
"There is much you have to learn, Princess Willow. Come, let me show you around,". Grimble offered a wing.
"But won't they freak out if they see me?".
"No. As far as I know, we are invisible to them. No one will see. Now. Hope on," he genuflected a bit. Willow couldn't believe it. "Well, are you getting on or what?" he went on impatiently.
"Are you sure?".
"How else are you gonna see the Great Tree?".
Willow hoisted herself up onto Grimble's feathery back and sat carefully in front of his wings. "Hang on tight. But don't pull on my feathers,".
"I won't. And the first thing I would like to do is apologise for not listening before. You and that old man were trying to save me and Ezran from that Viper, but we ignored you. I'm sorry,".
"Apology accepted. You're not the first person I've helped to be doubtful. Now hold on,". Grimble stretched out his wings. Willow braced herself as he took flight. And around them was a vast ocean. The tree was on a small island, towering over sun-touched shallow waters and shadowed by clouds of puffy pink. "It's beautiful up here," Willow held out her hands. "This is amazing!".
"Don't take it all in at once!" Grimble dived, and Willow screamed, tugging on tight to his feathers.

Raylan was walking in the trees, buildings of pure starlight glistening under the high moon. He had woken up not too long ago, and instead of feeling overcome with shock, he was calm and resilient. If this was what the last trial required, then this had to be it. Voice echoed in his ears, and as he peered over the edge of a balcony, he saw elves. Except they didn't look like him. They had no horns but instead an extra finger. And they were chanting a strange language he had never heard before.
"This is my home, young moon," Galadriel appeared beside him. "Lothlorien,".
Raylan had a feeling this would be his Spirit Guide's home. Galadriel had told him stories of the realm she ruled alongside her beloved Celeborn. "It's so beautiful. Just as you said," he reached into his pocket and held out her phial. "Your phial has been so important in getting through these trials. I don't know how we could have got through without it,".
"Its use will be unlimited for what's coming," Galadriel curled his fingers over it again. He packed it again and focused again on the miraculous view. "What I would give for my fathers to see this,".
The Elven Queen eyed him with sorrow. "You miss them,".
Raylan's heart ached. "More than I can express,". He couldn't turn to show her his face.
"Don't be afraid to show your sadness. It is alright to cry for people you miss,".
Raylan pulled out his butterfly blades. As his eyes stared into reflective surfaces, he imagined Runaan and Ethari's eyes staring back at him. Two tears fell. Galadriel clasped his shoulders. "Ethari made me these. And Runaan taught me how to use them. These are all I have left of them,".
"The blacksmith's heart aches with pain whilst you have yet to find his heart. You miss them deeply,".
Raylan's heart ached. "Very much,". He sheathed them behind his back and stared down at a happy elf couple with their child son. Galadriel rubbed his back. "I can't stop feeling guilty. I left Runaan that night to be captured. I left him when he needed me most. I should have gone back. If I had, he would have fulfilled his promise to Ethari. Our family wouldn't be so broken,".
"Do not let your guilt cloud your mind. Do not dwell on the past. You will find him and bring them back together, because the girl you love will fulfil her promise to you both,".
"Except, she doesn't love me anymore. That night, she asked me to kill Aaravos if he possessed her again, but I hogged her nose and called her a dummy. Even though I could clearly see she was scared of being controlled by that Startouch elf again. It was so stupid of me to answer like that to her. She'll never forgive me for abandoning her,".
"No matter what she feels, you must not let heartbreak stop you from keeping her safe. When you love someone, you will always be driven by that love to lay your life down for them. Just as I know she would do for you. I have watched you both prevail together through those trials. And as you both shall through your quest,". Raylan silently doubted her words. "Come with me. I must take you to my mirror,".
"Your mirror?" Raylan asked.
"It is not like any mirror you have seen before," Galadriel offered her hand. "Will you trust me?".
"Always. You've been there for me since the beginning. I have no reason not to,". He took it. And she gracefully pulled him down the stairs towards her sacred garden.
.......................................................................................................................
Caroline stood upon a great cliff. In the distance, she saw great mountains that towered above the clouds, an endless desert of scorching gold and forests that stretched for miles and miles upon end.
"This is Alagaeisa, young one,".
She turned around and saw .... "Murtagh..". A warm smile welcomed her with open arms. She ran over to him and embraced him. He hugged her back. Thorn purred and licked her face. "It's good to see you too, Thorn,". She stroked his scaly cheeks.
"I was hoping you would visit this world whilst you were asleep,".
"Is this what the test is?".
"Partly. Every Spirit Guide of Team Zym is watching over them. They will be with them in the other worlds. Come. I must show you what you have been brought here to see,".
"Okay. Let's go. Manus. Pluma. Volantus!". Carol held her arms out. But no feathers grew out. "What?".
"You can't use your magic whilst you're asleep," Murtagh said. "Your mind has been transcended to the Dream World, an astral plane that crosses over all other worlds. You will be riding Thorn with me,". he offered his hand. Carol took it, and he pulled her up behind on Thorn. "Hold on tight,".
Thorn took off, and Carol screamed for joy. They dove down, descending invisibly over settlements and past cities and kingdoms.
.......................................................................................................................
Zym was in a magical realm hidden in a sacred valley in the mountains. And there he saw elves who looked exactly like humans but had pointy ears like his world's, but four fingers and long hair. He wandered around, watching them playing music and speaking their own language, which was nothing like Draconic back in Xadia. Although he was invisible to them, he felt himself drawn to their culture, their ways of life, but one sight drew him closer.
On a bridge in a secluded garden under a bright moon, he saw two beings in love. A mortal man and an immortal maiden. They were enchanted with one another. The maiden had gifted her mortal lover a necklace that sparkled as bright as stars. They shared a kiss, and for a moment, Zym was picturing Raylan and Carol in their place. How he wished to see their love bloom again.
Claudia was inside a high vine catch, tightly bound in vines. Soren came to her cage with a tray of food and a cup of water. "I've brought you some beverages,".
"How exactly am I supposed to eat or drink anything if my hands are tied?" Claudia whined.
"That's the point. I'll be feeding you,".
"I'm not a baby! And you're not mum!".
Soren's heart clenched just thinking of their mother: Lissa. "Don't mention her, please,".
"You are making a big mistake, Soren,".
"I'm making a mistake?" he challenged, outraged by her hypocrisy. "You're the one who betrayed me and our friends,".
"Why do you care? They weren't your friends before?".
"No. But they became my friends because they showed me a new path. You have no idea what Aaravos will do to our world if he gets out. He'll destroy everything,".
"What about our father? Don't you care that Aaravos is the only one who can save him?".
"He's dead to me, no matter what," Soren sneered hatefully. "Even when he does horrible things, you do everything he says. Why?".
"Because I am trying to keep our family together,".
"And you're willing to help the Cult free Aaravos and capture Caroline just to do that?" Her brother challenged. "Did her friendship mean anything to you? And what about Willow and Ezran? What did they or Katolis do to deserve your treachery?".
Claudia just turned her head away. "Leave me be,".
Soren left the tray. "You can lie to yourself all you want, sister. But nothing you say is ever gonna justify what you've done,". He walked off, leaving the guards to keep his sister captive.
.......................................................................................................................
The Being in the tree watched Soren as he disappeared from Claudia. He eyed the guards and licked his chops.
.......................................................................................................................
The Dark Riders destroyed Hestia's village, houses burning, trees bursting into uncontainable flames. "Get to the river!" she ordered the mothers, fathers and their children.
"Hestia, look out!" Another elf cried. Hestia looked up and saw the cloaked leader shoot a fireball right at her. She just managed to dodge it, but ...Blast!
.......................................................................................................................
Caldor was sleeping peacefully nearly the sleeping Zubeia's wing. The Earthblood elves who joined them stood firm and tall, surrounding Umber Tor.
.......................................................................................................................
The Cult remained hidden, confident that their human Earth mage guaranteed their successful camouflage within the acres. "So, the Earthblood elf slipped away," Viren said wearily. "No doubt to rescue my daughter,".
"And the Being is with him. No matter what, they will find Claudia and free her,". Castor said confidently. "Meanwhile...". He held up a seeing orb and a black dragon. "Our minor diversion will no doubt draw the queen away. She has no idea what surprise I have in store for her,".
.......................................................................................................................
Zym was still watching the merry scene. When snap! He spun around. He saw dark spines moving in the shadows of the forest. "Show yourself!" he commanded, baring his sharp teeth. The bushes shuffled. "Okay! You asked for it!".
"Wait! Please! Please!" cried a freaked-out voice. "Just don't hurt me, please,".
Zym's noises shrivelled. "You're a dragon. You smell like singed grass,".
"I don't appreciate that compliment,".
"Sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. Please come out. I promise you won't hurt,".
"How do I know I can trust you?" the distrustful female dragon was snappy.
"I give you my word,". Zym waited a while. The bushes pushed apart, and into the moonlight approached a Sky dragon. Just like him. She was navy blue but had a cyan mane with a crown of white horns and matching eyes. She had four wings, the second, smaller pair hidden underneath her upper pair, and horns running down her spine up to her pointy tail.
"Um, hello?" the awkward prince greeted.
"Hi," His new anxious acquaintance greeted. "Sorry, I scared you before,".
"Sorry for my not-so-nice compliment before,".
"It's just I've never seen another dragon in this dreamworld,". The young dragon circled around Zym and he circled her.
"What's your name?".
"Natalia,".
"That's a pretty name,".
"Who are you? You look like Avizandum,".
"He was my father,".
"You're the Dragon Prince?"
"Yes,".
"Forgive me, your Highness," Natalia bowed.
"No, please. Don't bow. Just call me, Zym,".
"Zym, it suits you," she rose, and their eyes met again. "But how? All of Xadia believed you were dead,".
"So did my mother. But I was returned to my home two years ago by humans and elves,".
"What?".
"You don't know? Xadia and the Human Kingdoms are living in peace and harmony together because of how my friends, both human and elf, brought me back to my mother. But now the land is under threat from the impending return of Aaravos. And without my father Avizandum to protect us, Aaravos's followers are trying to set him free to continue what he started centuries ago,".
"That's terrible. I am so sorry about your father. We all heard of his death, and it broke our hearts,".
"I wish I had met him. Just once. My mother says she sees so much of me in him. What are you doing in this realm, Natalia?".
"My body is in the physical world. I have dream walked to this astral plane of another world like you,".
"Is this your first time?".
"Yes. How would you like me to show more of this realm?".
"I would love that,". Zym followed Natalia out of the gardens. His eyes took one last peek at the embracing human and elf, and he imagined once again seeing his human and her elf true love in their place.
.......................................................................................................................
Murtagh and Thorn took Caroline to the great cliffs, overlooking a civilisation that stretched for miles. "Here is where the monarchy of this great land resides," Murtagh unclipped his sword, Za'roc, from his belt and placed it down. He took another look down and saw people gathering around a great statue of a dragon embedded with sapphires for eyes and a rider holding up a sword crafted to shine blue in the sunlight.
Carol peeked down. "Who is that rider?".
"That would be my brother," Murtagh said plainly.
"Is he dead?".
"No. He left Alagaeisa years ago. But the people remember him as Eragon Shadeslayer, who vanquished the evil king Galbatorix from this realm,".
"And you helped him?".
Murtagh hung his head. "Not exactly. I was his enemy and Galbatorix's tool,". Carol became afraid. "But not by free will,".
He was forced. Carol told herself. "What happened, Murtagh? What happened you and Eragon?". He was quiet. He hid his face, scratching Thorn's face. "If you don't want to talk about it, then...".
"I do want to talk about it. It feels good to finally talk to someone,". Murtagh sat down on a rock and invited the still-trusting Caroline to do so.
"I will understand if there are some things you do not want to talk about," she offered kindly, wanting to respect his feelings.
"I was born to one of Galbatorix's most devoted followers. A Dragon Rider named Morzan, who betrayed the riders to help him seize power. And my mother was Selena, his human spy and assistant. See that city over there," he pointed to a distant city where, on a nearby mound, a great castle overlooked the village. "That was once a poor village called Carvahall. It's where my mother grew up. One day, Morzan visited that village, and she became drawn to him, eventually choosing to travel with him, wed him and have me. But soon after my birth, she began to see his cruel side when he kept me separated from her and confined her within his castle. He began to use me as a tool, and he didn't want the other Dragon Riders who sided with Galbatorix to know anything about me. One day, when I was just a child, not even five years old, he threw his sword at me in a drunken rage and scarred my back. There is nothing that shames me more than having Morzan as a father,".
A tear left Carol's eye. "And your brother?".
"Half-Brother," Thorn corrected.
"Eragon's father was a rider named Brom. He had infiltrated my father's castle to seek revenge against him for killing his dragon. My mother found out who he was, but instead of giving him away, they fell in love. Then when she was pregnant, she fled to Carvahall to give him to my uncle and aunt to be raised safe out of harm's way,".
"But not you?". Carol could tell how conflicted Murtagh felt inside. "What happened to her afterwards?".
"Once she gave birth, she fell deathly ill on her journey home as she had hidden in Carvahall for far too long. I was brought up in the Capital instead, raised in a place of hatred and fear, whilst Eragon was raised in a place of love,".
"And you resent him for it?".
"I resented him for a long time when I found out we shared the same mother,".
"It wasn't his fault,".
"No. It wasn't. We weren't always enemies. I first met him when I had escaped from the Capital for the first time in my life. I teamed up with him to reach the freedom fighters called the Varden, who opposed Galbatorix. Once we had defeated the Shade Durza, I was captured and brought before Thorn's egg, which hatched within my presence. We were forced by magic to serve under his reign, and magic had been used on him to grow rapidly. We committed heinous crimes in the name of Galbatorix. We were forced to kill many of my brother's allies, including the Dragon Rider Oromis and his dragon Glaedr,". He stayed silent, turning away from Caroline, afraid that she would now view him. "I see their faces every time I close my eyes. It was only when Eragon killed our captor did our unbreakable oath ended. But we could not earn forgiveness for our crimes. We left Alagaeisa and travelled for days, searching for a new life and to make peace with all we had been through. Until one night, a star archdragon from the heavens appeared to us,".
"Aaeseris," Carol breathed.
"She told us she had been watching over us since we left and believed we could be worthy of redemption by becoming your Spirit Guides. Still, I wonder why she would entrust your safety and wellbeing to us, despite everything we had done,".
"Because she saw something in you that you didn't see inside yourself," Carol placed a hand on Murtagh's hand. He turned and saw her leaking eyes. "I am so sorry for what that king and your father did to you. You didn't deserve to suffer as a prisoner and his weapon,".
Murtagh accepted her hand. "You have nothing to be sorry for. True as it may be what Galbatorix forced me to do, my redemption will not sway the peoples' minds. No matter what my brother says,".
"Have you ever ... spoken to him?".
His answer was a shake of the head. "I do not even know where he is now. He left to raise a new generation of riders safely out of Alagaeisa. And because it had been foretold. He is still remembered by many today as the man who ended the era of tyranny.
"It has been nearly a year now since Aaeseris found us and took us to your world," Thorn said numbly. "She has prepared for what's to come, but whether we meet her wishes will be up to her,".
"You guys are talking crazy," Carol argued. "You saved me in Katolis. You warned me of what was to come. And now you're here as well. If that Star Archdragon wasn't proud of you before, I know she is now. Where exactly is she now?".
"I'm afraid we cannot answer," Murtagh answered straightly.
"We do not even know where it is," his dragon raised its head to the sky. "She creates portals to teleport us back and forth between her realm in the heavens so that not even we know the direct route to find her, and only she determines when those portals appear,".
"Zubeia told me that when she told us about Aaravos's prison was that Aaeseris hasn't been seen by Xadia since,".
"The knowledge she possessed had to be hidden, so she chose to isolate herself from your world. But she foretold that at some point, you would come looking for her because you would need something that only she knew,". Murtagh noticed that Caroline had drifted off into deep thought. "What is troubling you?".
"Murtagh, I asked Raylan to kill me if Aaravos took control of me again,".
.......................................................................................................................
Tua was flying towards the mount of Umber Tor on her dragon. Soren was beside her on Squeaky, yawning constantly, lacking the focus he needed to fly a dragon. "Soren!" the left shouted.
When Soren woke up, a branch of leaves smacked him ... "Awake! Awake! I'm awake!" he blabbered out.
"Soren, you do know you can go and take a rest if you'd like,". Tua offered.
"No can do. My Spirit Guide told me I have to protect Caroline at all costs. What about you, Tua? Do you want to sleep?".
"I am in no mood to sleep. Not when I have to stop Terry's new friends from destroying our home,".
"Well, I have a plan on how we can get the Cult to surrender,". Soren pulled out Claudia's dark-corrupted sun staff, which she had stolen from the Lux Area years ago. They flew further up. As he was about to explain his plan, Tua turned her head, and her eyes widened.
"I know my dad would never let any harm come to her. So, if we show it to them..." Soren realised she wasn't focusing. "What is it?".
"That smoke," she pointed north. Soren twisted his head and saw columns of smoke elevated into the sky. "What is it?".
"That's where Hestia's home. She must be in trouble!". Tua pulled out her telescope. She saw black blurs. "Black Riders!".
"What?!" Soren screamed. "We have to tell the Queen!". They saw the gates and shot down. "Wake up!".
Caldor jolted up. Zubeia roared in anger. "Easy, everyone!" Tua calmed the soldiers. "It's just us!".
The Queen yawned like thunder and stretched her wings. She growled. She was not in a happy mood.
"What's the big idea waking up the Queen?" Caldor demanded.
"Zubeia! The other elf villages are in danger!". Tua screamed.
"What?" The Queen roared.
"My friend Hestia's home is under attack by Black Riders! There's smoke in the distance!". Zubeia held up her head and saw the destruction dozens of leagues across the land. The others saw it too.
"Then we must help them!" Soren cried out.
"I will go alone!" Zubeia degreed. "Many of you have not fought against these Black Riders up close. I have before. You must all
"But Queen Zubeia, this is what Castor wants!" Caldor argued. "Those Black Riders are attacking those villages on purpose, to draw you again!".
"But we have the advantage," Soren held up Claudia's staff. "Aspen is holding Claudia and her Earthblood boyfriend captive." And I know my father wouldn't risk her life. We'll use that to our advantage whilst you, Your Majesty, go and help those people,".
"You have no idea what my brothers are capable of," Caldor argued.
"Caldor, I must help these people," Zubeia said. "I will go alone. In the meantime, do what you can to keep our enemies from invading this mount. Earth elves, try and get word to Rex Igneous as well. Now I must go,".
Seeing there was no point in arguing with the Queen of Dragons, Caldor implored: "Your Majesty, please be careful. Those Black Riders will not doubt be armed with powerful weapons of dark magic. A single wound could corrupt you,".
"I will be fine, Sir Caldor. Please use your knowledge to help these elves,".
The former Moon Mage bowed, and the Dragon Queen took off. "I know just how to delay them," Caldor held out his sand to Soren. "Give me your sister's staff. Now both of you go and rest. We will remain here at the gates and try to get a message inside to Rex,".
.......................................................................................................................
Galadriel guided Raylan into her gardens. And inside a font was a silver bowl. He watched the lady of light walk over to a pool and use a jug to collect water. "What will I see when I look into this mirror?".
"A mirror shows many things," Galadriel poured the water into the basin. "Things that are. Things that were. And some things that have not yet come to pass,".
She placed the jug down, and Raylan approached the mirror. And stared into it. A head with long white hair appeared. And turned to him. Runaan. Then two more appeared. Lain and Tiadrin. Ethari. Willow and Ezran. He next saw Carol's turned head. But when it turned, he saw dark eyes with no light in them. Veins were crawling under her skin like snakes. Then came fire, mowing down the land like an interminable hurricane. Elves and humans are being slaughtered like animals. Dragons plunging from the sky. The sunlight was dying away till there was nothing left but darkness. The last reflection was a daemon. It was him. And all at once, he felt the bite on his neck, stinging like fire. "No!" he fell back in shock. His head hit the ground, and his head went black.
.......................................................................................................................
Murtagh and Thorn were not at all pleased with what Caroline told them.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Thorn demanded.
"I was just scared. In the fourth trial in that maze, I saw a vision of myself. A vision of myself as a dark mage. It was just like two years ago when I used dark magic for the first time, and my dark self was tempting me to use it. The dark version looked much worse. Like, there was hardly any humanity left inside me. If Aaravos takes control of me again, like he did back at the Spire, he'll want to use me to hurt other people. And I would never forgive myself if that happened,".
"Carol, I know what it feels like to be scared. I killed many people under his control, too. And that scars me more than the scar my own father gave me," Murtagh said darkly. "And there are times when I wish I could just end my life, be free of all this pain. But then I remembered that I had Thorn to hold onto. And even when I never saw Eragon again and I did all those horrible things, he called me 'brother' because he sympathised with how our mother abandoned me in the Capital and Galbatorix had me under his control. When you have true friends and people who love you, you're never really alone. And they'll always know that whatever Aaravos tried to make you do, it was not your fault,".
"I'm still scared, Murtagh. And it's not just that. Everyone's saying I should learn the Earth Arcanum, but I fear I am becoming too greedy with magic,".
"It is what you are meant to do. And already your teacher is waiting for you,".
"Wait. What?".
"You must awaken Carol so that your training can begin,".
"No! Wait, please!" she begged. Her body was fading away.
"Just go with the flow and embrace who you're meant to be. I will be watching you always,". Murtagh took her hand, and his face was the last thing Carol saw before her mind flashed like lightning.
.......................................................................................................................
"Murtagh," Carol panting. She sat up, surrounded by everyone in her team who was still asleep. All except ... "Benji? Benji?!". She stepped out of the dome. "Benji!" She turned her head, trying to find him. But there was no sign. Until a strange tingly feeling followed up her spine. She turned around and saw her fan and dear friend standing there, talking, but his eyes were glowing green.
"Aaravos," her fingers powered up with lightning. "Release Benji at once,".
"Don't be afraid, Caroline. I am not Aaravos," from Benji's mouth uttered a deep, dragon voice. "I am Gaia Igneous, Queen of Earth, mate of Rex Igneous and mother to my future daughter,". Carol calmed down but remained agitated. "Benji is alright. He has been chosen as my vessel to help you learn the Earth Arcanum. We must make haste for time is short and I cannot remain in his body for very long,".
The destined Mage remained distrustful. "You swear you aren't hurting him,".
"Yes. I give you my word on the life of my future daughter. It was Benji's destiny to join you on this quest as the great Dream Mage Bastian. We must now begin. Follow me,".

And that's another chapter done. Nearly finished Rex Igeneous now, and when that's done, only one more episode to go until Season Four: Earth is finished. I really hope you all have enjoyed. Once again again I take no credit for anything that doesn't belong, including original Dragon Prince ideas, Lord of the Rings or the Inheritance Cycle. Credit goes to their creators. Just wanted to meet reviewers' requests to use those ideas. Wish I could turn this into a crossover story, but it doesn't let you pick more than two. I'll probably cross it over with Eragon just to be on the safe side. I give credit to everyone whose ideas I have used or intend to use. See you all soon for the next chapter.
