You wake up to find your boyfriend Steve looking at you smiling.
"Good morning Steve."
"Morning babe." You almost choked on your spit. Steve only calls you by your name, sweetheart or darling. He has never ever called you babe, and if you were quite honest you didn't appreciate it. Hoping he just woke up from a weird dream you let it slide slipping into the bathroom for a shower then go up to the kitchen to eat breakfast.
Steve was already in the kitchen eating when you heard something that you never thought you would hear in your life. Steve used an acronym that had a curse word.
"OMFG Buck this is so good."
Bucky choked on his coffee proceeding to cough several times.
"Umm. Thanks Steve." Bucky says awkwardly not fully understanding what was going on and to be quite honest neither did you. It only got worse from there.
It was the official Avengers game night. Nat with Clint, Tony with Bruce, Thor with Loki (much to Loki's dismay), Sam and Bucky, and you with Steve. At the beginning of the game Steve turns to you saying, "Lets get lit fam." The Avengers almost died, you on the other hand were perfectly unfazed since it was happening so often today.
Halfway through the game, Nat and Clint moved ahead of the two of you putting them into first place.
"Aww man, I'm shook nasty." That was the last straw there was no way there was ever going to be another slang word coming out of his mouth.
"You okay babe? You look kinda triggered."
Looks like you spoke to soon.
"Yeah Steve. Can we go someplace to talk?"
"No problemo babe." Your cringe level as reached its peak.
You and Steve reached the living room to talk about his odd behavior.
"Steve what's wrong? You only been calling me babe, when you usually call me darling. I have no idea what's going on with you."
"You don't like Slang words? Tony said you did so I wanted to do it for you."
"No Steve. What I love is you being you cause that's the person I love and want to be with for the rest of my life."
"Alright darling. I'm happy we sorted this out. I honesty think I couldn't keep up this facade anymore."
"I love you Stevie."
"I love you too."
Oh thank god that was over. No more modern Slang. The cringe level was to high.
