It's been a few hours since poppy, branch, and I set out to Bergen town. Let's just say I regret everything...since then we had to run away from walking flowers, man eating spiders, and the most irritating of all is poppy won't keep her trap shut!
"Hey branch! (Y/N)!" poppy yells turning around to glance at me and I just glare right at her.
She quickly turns back around and whispers softly to herself, before speaking up.
" do you guys just wanna set up for the night? She asks.
" honestly I would just like to get this over with..." I mutter under my breath, so no one can hear, why did I help again?
"Ehhh it's not a bad idea...it's getting hard to see" branch responds looking at me seeing if they have my approval.
I shrug, as we find a place under some trees to set up.
Branch was the one who offered to go get sticks for firewood, most likely cause if poppy did it we would probably get dragged into another freaking...god knows what, maybe a demon from hell this time, and I'd pry off poppy's ponytail if that happens one more time today.
"Sure, I'll join you" I said standing up reaching for my jacket I placed on my sleeping bag.
Yet, before I can reach it he grabs my arm softly and I look him right into his bluish grey eyes.
"Stay here with poppy" I growl under my breath at his words, but before I could open my mouth he whispers in my ear.
"You really think it's a smart idea to leave her here....alone..."
I sigh realizing what he meant and he was right, little miss freaking sparkles can't seem to sit still and leaving her here would leave her to be an open buffet.
"Fine...you owe me for protecting your little princess" I sarcastically whisper back with a little venom in my voice, before turning my back on him.
After I realized what I said to him I froze, glancing a little over my shoulder to see a shocked expression....but no denial.
"Just go..." I sigh and go to sit next to Polly on my sleeping bag, just cause she haaad to be in the middle for our 'slumber party!' As poppy worded it.
After coming back to reality branch looked to the ground before turning and leaving the little area.
I stare at my feet as I try to control my emotions a little better.
"...are you ok (Y/N)?" Poppy asks and I look up to her giving that look that just tells everyone that I am not in a fucking mood for chit chat, but she doesn't seem to catch on.
"Peachy.." I growl and she winces at my harshness.
"Uhh...well how did you and branch meet" she asks and at that point I gave up. Choosing to lay on my side on my sleeping bag and take a deep breath.
"....it was a sad day, with horrible circumstances and it's not my story to tell of what happen...but lets just say his voice drew me in..." I tell her and I swear I could hear a small gasp from her, since she probably was expecting a straight answer from me.
Yet, it's true...even though I hate singing, despise it with a passion actually. That day, when I heard his voice something clicked inside of me and it just drew me in like a moth to flame. I'd give anything to hear him sing again, but I don't push it cause I know what it's like to fear something over trauma.
"Branch's voice? You liked him talking?" It took all my power not to chuckle at that, but I left it alone. If I told her it was his singing she would most definitely force him into a sing off or something when he got back. As tempting as it was, I wouldn't do that to him, I already dragged him into this search party with us.
"...hey why do you not like me?" She asks and I flinch at the question.
I really didn't know how to answer, main reason I wasn't around any trolls of the village was cause I hated the fact they left my family to be eaten...that they let me become an orphan. That I had to watch it happen, hidden deep in the trunk of the troll tree as my family evacuated everyone to hide.
Yet, I don't think that it is just that. It's mainly because I hate how everything gets handed to her on a silver platter, that she doesn't need to fight a battle everyday just for a smile on her face.
The fact that the only person I even speak to by choice has chosen her over me...
I glance over my shoulder at her, and pick my words carefully.
"Cause your the sunshine while I'm the rain...and regardless of what people say, opposites don't attract. It just gives...a momentary lapse of curiosity..." I sorta lied, I mean she won branch and they couldn't be any more opposite, but it was better than the truth.
"...oh...ok" I can tell by the tone in her voice she wanted me to deny I disliked her.
"It's not that I hate you...you did nothing wrong, but I ain't your best friend either" I say trying to make her feel even a little better, but I was never the one for comforting.
She smiles," well I'll just have to try harder to make you see me as a friend" she says then starts singing a song I don't recognize, but I sit up and cover her mouth before she could continue.
"I get it your determined, but please sing in your head" she nods and I remove my hand before laying back down. Not much later, my eyes were shut and I was dragged into dream world.
DREAM
(Y/N)!!! I glance over my shoulder to see branch running towards me.
Their coming and I knew it, the minute he caught up to me we took off deeper into the woods we were in. I couldn't lose him...not someone I care for, not again.
I purposely fell behind him, just incase they caught up so he would be sparred.
He glances back at me, and only then do I notice a Bergen appear out of nowhere in front of us.
"BRANCH!!!!" I shout, but it was to late he was lifted up to the Bergen's mouth, and you can't hear when you no longer have a head.
Dream end
I woke up in a cold sweat as I tried to catch my breath.
"You had another nightmare" I turn to see branch looking at me with concern in his eyes.
I then glance over and see that poppy is fast asleep next to me.
I look back at branch and the memories of the dream come back full force, as tears start streaming down my face.
He rubs my back as I rest my head on his shoulder trying to regain my sanity.
"I-i thought you were gone" I mutter.
"It was just a dream trust me, I ain't going anywhere" he softly says trying to calm me down, but I can feel him shaking under my head. He doesn't know what he is doing, nor does he know of what he is saying will be true or not, but it's nice to know he is here.
I am gonna have to let him go soon, so he can be with her, but in this moment I want to take in all the affection I can, no matter how selfish it is.
