Party - Chapter II
OC x Sniper - SFW (lil bit of kissing, nothing too bad)
Description - AU where the team was disbanded and work as individuals for The Administrator. Anita runs into Sniper at the same party, hunting down similar targets. Takes place after the events in the comics.
----------------------------------
The targets sat in a circle of men and a few women -prostitutes by the look of it- with guards blocking them from the rest of the party. Sniper took two glasses of champagne as a waiter passed through with a tray.
He offered a glass to Anita as he leaned against a couch, sitting with his back towards the men. Anita accepted the glass and took a slow sip as she watched the their targets. "Cookin' up any plans, sheila?" Sniper asked, subtly glancing behind him. Anita sighed and shook her head.
"Nothing good. I can pretend to be one of his working girls, and try to lure both of them away." She suggested, cringing slightly as she said it. Sniper wrinkled his nose and shook his head. "No, there's too many holes in that plan. Maybe we could just wait until they leave? It's not uncommon for the main guests to have some sort of VIP section for themselves." Sniper countered, taking a sip from his drink.
"No, there's no telling how long that'll take. We have to do something now." She responded, rather loudly. A guard stationed not too far away heard, and eyed the two mercenaries. Sniper noticed and let out a small curse, before wrapping his arm around Anita's waist and pulling her in between his legs.
"Sniper, what the fuck-"
"I know you're eager for the wedding, but these things take time to plan!" Sniper said, just loud enough for the guard to hear. The man seemed to accept their cover-up, and continued scanning the room.
"Sniper, what the fuck is wrong with you?" Anita hissed quietly. Sniper scoffed, and kept his arm around her. "I'm saving your ass; again. Maybe the next time we're discussin' our murder plan, you'll keep your voice down." He responded, nodding at the guard to show her what he meant.
Anita subtly glanced back and saw what he was talking about. "Whatever." She growled. She accepted their little cover though, and placed an arm around his shoulder. Sniper immediately realized how close they were, and pink tinted his cheeks.
Anita glanced down and noticed Snipers pink face. "What's wrong? Are you okay?" She asked, knitting her eyebrows together. Sniper cleared his throat and turned away. "I'm fine. Let's just focus on the mission, yeah?" He insisted, avoiding eye contact.
Anita wasn't an idiot. She knew what was wrong. But she enjoyed teasing him. "Are you sure? You're burning up, Sniper." She said softly, pressing her hand against his forehead. When he refused to turn, Anita took his chin and turned him toward her. "Don't be a child." She muttered, cupping his face and neck, pretending to check for fever.
"Really sheila, I'm okay." Sniper growled, the blush on his face growing rapidly. "No, you're not. The blush is getting much worse." Anita teased, still pretending to be worried. She kissed his forehead softly, before looking down at him again. "Yep. You're blushing bad. It's the worst case I've ever seen." She joked, unable to hold back a smile.
Sniper stared at her for a few seconds before shaking his head and chuckling. "I forgot how much I hate you." He muttered, looking up at Anita and locking eyes with her. Anita smiled softly and leaned in closer. "Yeah, and I forgot how annoying you are.." She whispered. Their faces were only inches apart. They both held their breaths, daring the other to make the first move.
Anita couldn't stand it anymore, and closed the space in between them. Sniper kissed her back softly, waiting for a moment to see her reaction. When Anita didn't pull away, Sniper kissed her back passionately, wrapping his other arm around her waist. His free hand glided up and down her bare back, sending shivers throughout her body. She cupped his face and pulled him closer, deepening the kiss. They only pulled apart when they heard someone clear their throat.
"Hey, the bossman don't want people gettin' too chummy at the party. So you either get a room or keep it in your pants." One of the guards warned, before walking away. Sniper glared at the man as he walked away, before realizing he still had his arms around Anita. He quickly let her go and cleared his throat. "Listen, Ranger-"
"Yeah, I know. That was out of bounds. I'm sorry. Let's just stay focused on the mission." Anita interrupted, taking a small step away from Sniper. She avoided eye contact and gulped down the rest of her champagne. "Yeah, sure." Sniper muttered, before downing the rest of his drink as well.
Something caught Anita's eye, and the glanced back at the men. She tapped Snipers arm and subtly nodded her head in their direction. "They're moving." She whispered, setting her glass on the floor. Sniper mirrored her action and stood up. "What's the plan, sheila?" He whispered back, turning around and watching the men as they moved. Anita sucked in a breath and thought for a moment, before turning back to Sniper.
"I'm going to follow them; see what they're doing. Stay at the bar and I'll meet back with you. If I don't come back in thirty minutes, Go take out your target and leave." Anita explained, before she began to trail the men. Sniper grabbed her wrist and turned her around. "Remember that drink you owe me? You better come back to pay your debt." He joke, trying to hide his concern.
Anita rolled her eyes. "That was like two years ago, Sniper. How do you still remember?" She asked, smiling slightly. Sniper chuckled and let her go. "I'm holding you against that. Make sure you come back." He said, a little more seriously. Anita smiled and nodded before turning turning away to follow the men. She melted into the crowed, trying not to get noticed by the targets or their guards.
She watched as the targets and their working girls walked out of the room and into a hallway. The hallway entrance was guarded by two armed men. She waited a few moments before making her way to the hallway. "Ah, hello! Sorry I'm so late! Is Mr. Marowski in there?" She asked the guards, putting on a fake smile.
The men looked at her suspiciously. "Maybe. What's it to you?" One of them said, stepping closer to Anita. "I'm one of the women he hired for tonight. My car broke down and that's why I'm late." She lied, rubbing the back of her neck to make the act more belivable.
The other guard looked her up and down, before smirking. "Yeah, she certainly looks the part. The boss just went in, you should be able to catch up." He said, gesturing for Anita to go inside. The guard glanced at his coworker, before stepping back and letting her pass.
Anita thanked them through gritted teeth and went in. She took the only route left, before seeing Enzo and his company turn right. She quietly followed them, glancing over the corner to watch them. They took a left turn and continued walking down. "Damn, how long are these hallways?" She muttered to herself as she quickly pursued them.
She peeked over the corner just in time to see them walk into one of the rooms and shut the door. She quietly walked over to the room and too note of the room number. 21A, She repeated to herself. She stayed and listened to the muffled voices inside.
"You two, go guard the door! I don't want you interruptin' us for nothin', you hear?" Enzo said. Two footsteps came marching to the door. Anita silently cursed to herself and quickly ran back the way she came.
"Hey, you're back. Where you goin' miss? One of the guards asked as she walked back into the main party room. Anita cringed slightly as she turned around, having completly forgotten about them.
"Aheh, well I forgot my boss needed to speak with Mr. Marowski, so I'm here to fetch him." She lied, faking another sheepish smile. The guards nodded, accepting her excuse and went back to their posts. Anita let out a sigh of relief as she walked back to the bar. She found Sniper and plopped herself next to him.
"And she's alive, ladies and gentlemen! What did you find?" Sniper asked, taking a drag from his cigarette. Anita sighed and took the cigarette from his fingers. "You were right. They went in some kind of VIP room. Two guards by the entrance, didn't catch how many were inside."
"Probably none. I wouldn't want someone to watch when I'm with a lady, and I doubt they enjoy it very much either." Sniper responded, shooting her a glare for stealing his smoke. Anita took a drag from his cigarette before giving it back to him. "But doing it in front of your best friend is alright?" She scoffed as she blew out the smoke.
"Point taken. So, what's the plan?" He asked, taking one last drag before putting his cigarette out. "Follow me, and follow my lead." She said, before standing up and walking back to the hallway entrance.
