Y/N's POV
1776, New York City
I woke to my stomach growling. I groaned before turning onto my side, but I was met with the burn of the sunlight that filtered into my windows.
I let out a hiss, scooting away from the sunshine that was on my bed. I gently touched my cheek, as that was where the sun hit the most. It stung, but it shouldn't leave a mark.
I looked outside from where I sat on the bed, trying to figure out what time of day it most likely was. It was probably past 9, so I didn't sleep in too late.
My stomach growled once more. 'I'll have to hunt tonight..' I thought to myself as I got out of bed.
I quickly got out of bed and made my way to the dresser. I didn't both to look at my reflection, because I didn't want to get a massive headache.
I put on a light periwinkle bodice with a beautiful blue dress. I then proceeded to grab my sunhat, so I wouldn't burn myself more than I already did.
I opened my door, walked out of my room, and closed it again. I then proceeded to make my way down the stairs and out of the tavern. The tavern was quiet this morning, which I take as a good sign. If the group of rag tags were to come back, I don't know what I would do.
My thoughts then began to shift back from the night before. The group of three men trash talking the British monarchy. It didn't bother me at all, instead, it interested me.
As I walked down the street, thinking to myself, I bumped into a girl wearing a light blue dress. "Oh! I am so sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going, my apologies." I said, looking at the girl with a small smile.
She had raven black hair and a heart shaped face. She smiled broadly at me, "Oh, it's quite alright. I should have watched where I was going as well. My name is Elizabeth Schuyler, but most people just call me Eliza, and you?"
I smiled back, "My name is (Y/N). It's a pleasure to meet you Eliza." I said, holding out my hand in greeting. She took it and gave it a light shake. I felt her heartbeat through the palm of her hand, but I couldn't think of it now, otherwise something unimaginable would happen.
"I hope you don't mind, but are you from England?" She asked, noting my accent.
I nodded, "I just came to The Colonies yesterday. I left England in order to be free." I said with another small smile.
Eliza smiled again, "Well, we will have to win the war in order to do so." She was then looked to her right as two girls came up to us. The taller one wore a pink dress, her curly black hair in a ponytail. The other one was wearing a golden yellow dress, her curly brown hair in a pony tail as well.
"Eliza! There you are. We were wondering where you went." The tallest one stated, looking slightly annoyed. Her attention then turned to me, her dark brown eyes scanning me over. "Who are you?" She asked, trying to be polite.
"My name is (Y/N). I just moved here from England." I said. I had no idea who these two were, but they somehow knew Eliza.
"It's nice to meet you (Y/N). My name is Angelica. I'm Eliza's older sister." She said with a kind smile.
"And I'm Margarita! But you can call me Peggy!" The one in the golden yellow dress said enthusiastically.
"It's nice to meet you all, but I'm afraid I have to get going. I need to find a house that I can live in." I said, giving them a small farewell wave.
That's when Eliza grabbed my hand once more. I felt her blood pumping through her veins as I turned around to face her.
"We'll help you! We don't have anywhere else to be right now." Eliza said, looking at her sisters for approval.
Angelica shrugged her shoulders before walking ahead of us, "Let's go!" She called.
"But daddy said we have to be home by sundown!" Peggy called, running after the three of us.
"He doesn't need to know." Angelica stated.
"He also told us not to go downtown." Peggy huffed as we headed in the direction of downtown.
"Come on, we'll be fine!" Eliza said, gently nudging Peggy with her left shoulder. Eliza still had my hand in her grip, so I couldn't really pull away.
We walked down the street, passing a few soldiers on our way.
"The revolution is happening in New York!" Angelica said excitedly, watching the soldiers pass.
"Dad will want to go to war." Peggy said worriedly as the soldiers passed.
"Look! There are people shouting in the square!" Eliza pointed at a group of people. My eyes followed her gaze and saw the group. I noticed the four guys from the night before, listening to a man on a podium about how 'Chaos and bloodshed are not a solution.'
Peggy must've heard what the speaker was saying, because she then said, "There will be violence on our shore."
"There will be new ideas in the air! Just look around, look around!" Angelica said, squeezing Peggy's shoulders.
Peggy was quiet after that, so we kept on walking. It was nice to find people my age, well, I should say my physical age, which was 20. I then started to think about the war, and how much it would cost us to win it. I wasn't paying attention when a man came up to us.
I glanced over at him, and it was the bald man from last night. He asked Angelica what she was doing downtown.
Her facial expression made me chuckle a bit, because she looked like she could slap him across the face.
"Burr, stop bothering us." She said flatly before walking away from him, is in tow.
I caught his eye and he smiled. I smiled back, but then he called after Angelica.
"So you've heard of me? You can trust me." He said with a grin on his face. Angelica stiffened before turning around to face him.
"Listen, I've read 'Common Sense' by Thomas Paine, so I seem intense or even insane. But you guys want a revolution, and I want a revelation! So listen to this declaration: We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal." She then walked up to him, her face close to his.
(A/N: I actually did a research paper on Thomas Paine, and I tried to read Common Sense. It was really boring 😂)
"And when I meet Thomas Jefferson, I'm going to make him include women in the sequel!" And with that, she turned away from him and walked towards us.
We looked at her before looking at Burr, who was stunned by Angelica's remark. We all then broke down into laughter and kept on walking.
"If we don't find a house for you, I think Papa will be alright with you staying with us. If that's okay with you?" Eliza said, glancing over at me. My eyes were looking back at the group of people in the square.
I then turned to her, "Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother. I can sleep in the tavern again. It wasn't so bad. Actually, it was kind of interesting." I said, looking her in the eye.
Her eyes went wide, "You slept at a tavern?! How did you get any sleep?" She asked quizzically.
I shrugged, "I don't even know. But there were a group of drunk guys that tried to sing, but it only came out as a yell." I stated with a light laugh.
Angelica looked back at me, "Do you know who they were?"
"Well, one of them was none other than the Marquis de Lafayette. Then there was a tailor named Hercules Mulligan." I said slowly before continuing on.
"And then there was John Laurens. He had brown curly hair, and the freckles on his face looked like stars in the night sky." I said, my eyes going back towards the square. I couldn't tell who it was, but it looked like someone was trying to push the speaker off of the podium.
I then turned back to the sisters, and they were all giving me the same look: the look of plotting.
"What? Why are you giving me that look?" I asked, not sure if I should stay with them or slowly back away.
"Someone has a crush~" Peggy said in a sing song voice.
I was flustered, but I couldn't really show it, "I do not! I haven't even had a conversation with him!" I scoffed, lifting my nose in the air mockingly. The sisters giggled.
"Sure you don't....Hey look, here he comes!" (Here comes the General, jk 😂) Angelica said, pointing towards the square.
I turned quickly, "What? Where?" I said, scanning around the crowd for him. That's when I realized they were trying to prove a point, and I lowered my head in embarrassment.
"Real funny guys." I mumbled. The girls snickered before continuing on their way. After a few long minutes of walking, and the girls whispering about trying to get me to talk to him, I spoke up.
"So, it is okay if I stay with you guys? I won't be a bother?" I asked, desperately trying to change the topic.
Eliza looked at me, "Yeah. Papa shouldn't mind. If you want, we can head back to the tavern with you to grab your stuff." She offered with a smile.
"That would be nice." I smiled back. And with that, we headed back towards the tavern to retrieve my stuff.

I never knew I could write this much 😂, but hey! You met the Schuyler Sisters! And now they are teasing you about the small crush you have on John 👀
Also, for the Chapter Pictures, I think I'm going to just put memes there, because why not? I know on my other stories I usually have the chapter pictures in a repetitive order, but I like sharing my Hamilton memes with people, so there you go!
