“And that is our confession.” Captain Anderson announced after Detective Debby picked up her phone which was on the table and turned off the recording.
Wright Junior stood up immediately “Where is Amanda?” he asked intensely determined o get an answer his time.
“She’s at ST Paul Hospital right now.” The detective replied.
Junior asked nothing else; he nodded his head a little and said “Thank you.” He moved away from where he stood heading towards the door.
“Junior!” His father called out, halting his Son but that wasn’t enough to stop him for long. Junior threw a fierce stare at Nelson and then kept on moving.
“Excuse me.” Nelson said politely and join Wright Junior out of the Captain's office.
“Tony is in the interrogating room right now sir.” Detective Debby informed her Captain.
“Would you like to speak to him?” the Captain asked Mr. Wright.
“Yes please, I really need to clarify something with him."
Mr. Wright followed the Captain and Detective Debby out of the office and into the interrogation room. Detective Debby opened the door and signaled Detective Roy out of the interrogation room.
“Sir.” Roy saluted when he came out and saw the Captain.
“Has he said anything?” Captain Anderson asked, taking one quick look at Tony who was cuffed to the table.
“Not yet but he sure was shocked when I told him we had him on tape.” Roy told them.
“Mr. Wright, are you ready?” The Captain inquired
Mr. Wright nodded his head and walked into the interrogation room while the Captain and the two Detectives stood behind one-way-see-through glass, watching and hearing the conversation going on in the room.
“Hello Tony.” Mr. Wright said as he drew out the chair tugged underneath the desk, across from Tony and sat on it.
“You saw this coming, you knew all along.” Tony said, too embarrassed to lift up his head.
“Do you regret your actions?” Mr. Wright asked, sounding like a father who was sorely disappointed at his son's failure. A reaction Tony had witnessed often towards Wright Junior.
“No, I did it for my father. You are the reason I lost my mom so, don’t act so righteous.” Tony barked, trying but failing to hold his temper.
“Is that what your father told you?” Surprised at the words that came out from Tony's mouth.
“That and more.” Tony said, this time, glaring straight at his uncle.
Failing to maintain his composure, Mr Wright slapped on the table, making Tony jerk a little scared “What if I tell that your father lied to you?” He said.
“That’s impossible, he couldn't have lied. My mom died because of your generosity. Thank you for that.” Tony yelled, stressing n his sarcastic compliment.
Mr. Wright understood instantly, his sarcastic words “You are welcome. In fact I was too generous. I wired the money your father requested, the moment he left my house to the hospital on that day your mother fell ill. I even called the doctor to confirm if your mother was admitted there. And when he told me she was, I made sure the doctor started treatment immediately.” His uncle yelled back hitting the table even harder, enough to let out thunderous sound.
On hearing the angry sound, detective Debby was about to interrupt their conversation but was stopped by the Captain.
“Your mom didn’t make it out of the surgery alive. And your dad was mad, he needed someone to blame and that person, unfortunately, was me.” Mr. Wright continued.
“Liar!” Tony couldn't accept what his uncle was saying to be true and didn't want to listen anymore. But just as he couldn't stop his uncle from speaking, he also couldn't stop the tears from pouring from his eyes.
“Your dad and I argued a little when he came to my house that afternoon. He wanted me to give him the money in cash. Tony, I knew your dad. I was his elder brother and I knew all about his dealings. He owed a man a huge amount of money, he asked me to lend him some money to pay this man but I refused. I told him that he needs to start taking responsibility for his action, he’s a family man. Then, he broke the news to me about your mother’s situation. I thought he was bluffing, I thought maybe he would say anything to get money out of me. I sent him away then I called the hospital.” Mr. Wight explained, a bit calmly.
“I don’t believe you.” Tony said not wanting to believe he was wrong, that his father had lied to him.
“Good, Don’t. Believe me or not your father was my only brother and I couldn’t just sit and watch him misbehave that’s why I gave him a job at my company. But unlike your father, you went too far.” Mr Wright's firm voice returned and his glare forced Tony to lower his head again.
“I did what I had to do.” Tony was a very emotional man, everything he felt was always on pro max. But this time, his emotions had made him a mad man who made wrong decisions out of impulse instead of investigating first.
“I hope that it was for good reason.” Mr. Wright said. He looked at Tony for a while and felt petty rather than anger. He was a young boy who was misled by his father. Mr. Wright rose to his feet, looked towards the dark window and headed for the door.

Wright Junior and Nelson ran to the ward Amanda was admitted in and stopped when they got to the door. Junior looked through the open space on the door and found Amanda lying unconscious on the bed, he took three steps back and Nelson hurried to see too.
Junior turned and saw Bridget, Louis and Elena sitting on a long bench in the waiting room. He walked over to them, leaving Nelson peeping through the open space.
“Hey.” Wright acknowledged them in a low but audible voice.
“Hey.” They replied in turns.
“I came as soon as I heard. How is she?” Junior asked Bridget who was resting her head on Louis’s arm.
“The doctor said she collapsed due to the shock, he said that we should let her rest tonight and by tomorrow, she would be fine.” Bridget told Junior still resting her head on Louis shoulders.
“Baby, c’mon you too need to rest. Remember you are still coming back here tomorrow.” Louis tried to convince Bridget in a worried tone.
“He’s right, Bridget.” Elena concurred, dropping her folded legs on the floor and dabbing her wet cheek with the back of her palms.
“OK.” Bridget finally agreed. She got to her feet, so also did Louis and Elena. “Good night Samuel.” She said to Junior, tapping him on his shoulder before walking past him.
“Take care bro.” Louis said following Bridget, and just when he cut sight of Nelson, who was later heading towards their direction, Louis nodded politely to him.
Elena smile at Wright Junior and left too.
Junior collapse on the same bench the others had stood up from. He rested his back and shut his eyes.
“Hey.” Nelson called while he sat beside him “Who were they?” He asked curiously of the people who he watched leaving.
“They are Amanda’s friends.” Junior replied sluggishly.
“Hmm, but dude you know you can’t see her till tomorrow, right?” Nelson reminded his god-brother.
“I know. What can I do, Nelson?” Junior asked depressed.
“Let’s go home.” Nelson said after exhaling deeply. "We will come back tomorrow."
Wright Junior took Nelson’s advice and went home.
