"My mom's gonna kill me, probably." Mikayla started, staring at her room- which was covered in complete chaos. Held in her hand was a simple black backpack, filled with the basic necessities for life on the run.
But seriously, her room was a mess. She had gone through every drawer to find what would be the bare minimum for whatever the hell they were about to do.
The doubts lingered over her as she begrudgingly started to pick up the tornado. What if it didn't work, or this was all just some elaborate prank? If it really was some kind of sick joke, she was going to have a few words with whoever deleted her fanfiction. Words that included many profanities.

Emerson stared at the clock for what felt like the seventh time that day. The package was late.
The glasses were quickly shipped her way, in less than twenty-four hour shipping- mostly because they lived only two hours from each other, and Sam was eager to get the twenty dollars. Yeah he really needed to learn how to prioritize- but she wasn't going to complain.
Maybe she was just being impatient, but they were supposed to be here twenty minutes ago. And in that twenty minutes, she'd already packed a bag.
She and Mikayla had conversed the previous night about their game plan. Become friends with the autobots, bribe the US government into being a part of NEST, and try to prevent the world from ending. Sounded like fun.
Their plan was definitely going to be a lot harder than that, but it would be okay.. hopefully.
Lost in her thoughts, she was startled back to reality when the doorbell rang. A grin appeared on her face as she bounded to the front door.
Throwing it open to see who it was, she wasn't surprised to see a teen around her age with a small package in his hand.
"Sign here please." he started with a small smile, holding out a small clipboard. It was then she remembered about COVID-19.. and she was extremely confused.
Signing for the package quickly, she spoke up, "Hey, you wouldn't happen to know todays' date, would you?"
He looked at her with a quick nod, "It's June 5th."
She looked sheepishly behind him before saying, "I actually meant the year.."
The girl didn't catch his expression as her breath caught in her throat. There, behind him, was someone she wasn't shocked to see, but it still sent chills up her spine.
Emerson almost didn't hear the boy respond, her heart was pounding so hard in her chest.
"It's 2007, miss. Have a nice day."
Slowly she watched the teen awkwardly climb back into his truck before driving away, not even batting an eye at the police car parked out front. She pursed her lips, noticing the package in her hand- she must have grabbed it unconsciously.
Backing into her house, she shut the door and locked it quickly, running to her room where her bag and phone resided. Quickly pressing the dial, she called Mikayla- now aware that the bot outside could be listening.
"Hey what's up-"
"Barricade is right outside my house and I have the glasses. Fifty percent sure he's hacking into our call right now." Tearing the cardboard box open with the help of the scissors besides her, she reached inside to grab the smaller black case.
"Oh." she paused, "Oh you're screwed."
She glared at the phone as if it could somehow transmit her gaze from hundreds of miles away. The girl clutched the case tightly in her grasp, first making sure that the object of interest was safely tucked inside. Slinging her pack over her shoulder, she made sure everything she needed was inside- because she was sure that if she ever did come back, it would look like the girl had never existed.
Taking in a deep breath as her heart pounded, she set off down the hallway, phone still in hand.
"I'm gonna force him to go pick you up."
There was another pause as she heard something drop on her side of the line.
"Excuse me you're gonna what?"
"I'll use the glasses?" the blonde questioned, "I mean- the worst that can happen is he kills me before I can talk to him."
"I'm very concerned for your well-being."
"Me too." she finished, now at the door, "- Just, be ready when we get there, please."
"Em, if you die-" she sighed, and the blonde could hear her open up her bag. "I told you so."
Her eyes narrowed, "Goodbye, Mikayla."
Before she could respond, the line was cut and she walked out the front door. Unsurprisingly, the cop car was still there.
Not really knowing how to approach a cybertronian- especially a decepticon, she just walked towards him and stood awkwardly.
Blinking owlishly at the door, she waited for something to happen.
And waited.
And waited some more.
Emerson looked up and down the street to see if there was somebody watching them, and there wasn't. She shifted her weight on her feet and started what was probably going to be one of the weirdest conversations she'd ever had before.
"So." the girl hesitated, "You're Barricade, right?"
Not really knowing what was going to happen, she watched carefully for a reaction- only to hear a slight rumble from his engine. She assumed it was either annoyance or shock.
Sliding her phone into her pocket before zipping it shut, she grabbed the case from her other hand and opened it briefly. Just enough to let him know that she had what he wanted.
There was a brief pause before a click resounded and the door opened just enough for her to climb in.
She resisted the urge to smile, instead thinking 'Hah! Take that Mikayla! I haven't died yet!'
Slowly, yet carefully, she climbed in- noting that this was probably the stupidest idea she'd ever had, but what other choice did she have.
Actually, scratch that, she had a lot of different options. Options pertaining to a few choice autobots or Sam Witwicky himself. Even Sector Seven, practically.
"Give me the glasses." were the first words that her new companion spoke, in a frightening tone that clearly spelled out murder if she didn't comply.
However, being the stubborn kid that she was, she tested his limits. "No way."
A growl was heard from the radio as she buckled herself safely in the seat- trying to make a show that she was not leaving.
"Get out of my interior, human." Barricade demanded, and his engine gave out a threatening roar. "Give me the glasses!"
Eggo rolled her eyes, taking the glasses out of the case- and smashing the lens before he could even blink.
Feeling satisfied with herself, she waited for his reaction. Eying the road patiently, she asked into the silence, "Are we going now?"
There was a pause, before all she could hear was a furious revv- and she minorly panicked. So far, the plan was going pretty well- minus that part.
"You just lost us the location of the Allspark!" he growled, probably going to strike her, before a smaller silver decepticon shot out of the center console. The two began to speak in cybertronian before the mech could squish her to death.
"Human." she was greeted by, and she turned her gaze to see Frenzy looking at her carefully, as if he could analyze her first move. Their eyes, well, optics, locked as they seemed to carefully dissect the being across from them.
Frenzy grinned cockily once he'd seen her lip twitch almost in a small smile, "You already know where it is, don't you."
She smiled cockily, "And what if I do?"
There was a small beat of silence as the atmosphere grew almost sickeningly menaceful. She knew she only had a few moments to play it off so she quickly continued. "If this were any other situation I would just tell you and leave, because y'all have a world to save.."
She glanced up slightly to see Frenzy's exterior drop, faintly hearing Barricade's engine sputter, and she pressed on. "But I need a small favor."
Frenzy- taking the bait- gave a practiced fake grin, "And what would that be?"
Emerson gave him a mischievous smile, "We're gonna need to pick up my friend along the way."
A small groan came from Barricade before Frenzy harshly punched his dash out of what he thought was out of the view of the girl. She resisted the urge to laugh as they met eyes again.
"And why should you trust us?" Frenzy asked, raising an optic, "How do you know we won't leave you for dead the moment you tell us the location of the Allspark?"
Bingo.
Emerson played it off casually, turning to look in the rearview mirror as if she had been watching for an enemy to appear.
"Because you aren't the autobots." she started after a moment.
The small bot seemed very intrigued in her words and what she had to say as he motioned for her to continue. "And what do you know about the autobots?"
The girl resisted the urge to congratulate herself on the fact that she just fooled him to Cybertron and back, & continued as if nothing had happened.
"I know the autobots bring death and destruction everywhere they go." Emerson gave a small flinch as if to prove something awful had happened to her, and she thanked the one acting lesson she had taken with a friend two years ago. "They crave it, practically. While the decepticons want only peace and restoration to every species, the autobots wish to rule galaxies."
Taking a deep breath, she turned to Frenzy, giving him just a glimpse of 'grief' in her eyes, "That's how I know I can trust you."
There was a pause as the small bot contemplated her words, and she could hear the bursts of contained laughter from Barricade. The sick mech probably thought this was funny.. but she couldn't blame him, she wanted to laugh too.
"It's alright now." Frenzy started- going even as far as to 'comfort' her by placing a servo on her shoulder. It felt cold, nothing like the aura of someone who truly wanted to help.
"We'll take care of the autobots, don't you worry."
Emerson nodded as they pulled away, the girl giving them the address of where her friend was staying. As she stared out at the passing cars, one thought crossed her mind as she let out a faint, unforgiving grin.
'Oh how the deceptors have been decepted.'
