"Do we know what she was hit with yet?" Steve asked Tony and Bruce, as the three looked through the window at the woman in the hospital bed at the high security medical facility at S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters.
"Not yet, the doctors have done multiple tests, and all that they seem to show is that she is no longer "human"." Bruce explained, as he turned to look at the other two men.
"What do you mean, no longer human?" Steve asked in disbelief, as he averted his gaze from the woman in the bed, to the doctor by his side.
"She looks human to me." Tony commented, as he furrowed his brows, turning his attention back to the unconscious form in the bed.
"What I mean, is that whatever she was hit with, whatever that light beam was that one of those things that Loki brought with him, hit her with, it has changed her. I am sure that the lady was a perfectly normal woman before she got caught in New York, but now, well now, she is anything but." Bruce began to explain as he opened the file.
"Her brain is processing information quicker than is humanly possible, even unconscious it's like her mind is making calculation after calculation. Physically she appears normal, but now it's more like she's a mixture of an AI and an Asgardian. More like Thor and Loki than you or I." Bruce explained, as he showed the file to Tony.
"So, are you telling me that whatever it was that hit her, turned her into a god?" Steve asked, not sure why Loki would want to "create" a god.
"I don't know whether we can say that she has been turned into a god, but there is definitely something different about her; and there is also the problem that if she has been made into a god, we have no idea what possible powers she could now possess. Or whether, when she wakes up, if she's on our side or theirs." Bruce said, as he turned his attention back to the woman in the bed.
"We need to get Thor back here, maybe he can help when she wakes up." Steve said, Tony nodding his head in agreement as the sound of the door opening behind them made all three turn around.
"Well, at least we know who she is now." Fury told the three men as he came to join them.
"Detective Sargent (Y/f/n) (Y/l/n). Member of the New York City PD. She has quite a distinguished service record from what we can see. Champion shooter, she has black belts in a number of martial arts, and her test scores were through the roof. The department told us that she was off duty at the time of the attack, but no one is surprised that she was in the thick of the action helping civilians. By all accounts she's "just that kind of woman." Fury said, as he joined the three men at the viewing window.
"We have sent for Thor. I know he has his hands full with Loki, but he's the only one that may be able to help. We have done all we can to make sure that the room is secure, it's even Hulk proof; but given that we don't know what Loki's friends were packing, we have taken every extra precaution that we can think of." Fury explained, the four men jumping as all the alarms on the machines attached to the woman rang out, their eyes widening as she suddenly sat up, pulling the tubes from her body before jumping out of the bed and banging violently on the wall.
"LET ME OUT!" She screamed, her fingers nails digging at the metal of the door as she desperately struggled with the door handle.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?" She screamed again. The woman dropping to her knees, her eyes darting around the room as she took in everything around her. Her head dropping into her hands as she was hit by a pain so violent in her brain that she could swear she was going to die.
"Detective Sargent (Y/l/n). My name is Director Fury. You were hit by a powerful beam of er....... energy while you were helping in New York. We have no idea what it has done to you yet. You are being cared for here until we can ascertain whether you are a threat or not." Fury said over the loudspeaker, the woman jumping to her feet before heading over to the two way mirror behind which the Avengers and the Director stood.
"What do you mean, a powerful beam of er energy?" (Y/n) growled, as she stared deep into the mirror.
"I don't know who you are, or what you are a director of. But what makes you think that I am going to let you keep me here. If I am a threat, why would I stay here to let you hurt me?" (Y/n) asked, an alarm sounding throughout the facility, as she raised her fist and punched it through the thick pain of glass. The shards of the mirror shattering into nothing more than tiny fragments as they showered over the four men.
"I thought you said this thing was Hulk proof?" Tony hissed at Fury, as he and the others looked up at the woman that had jumped through the hole that she had made. Her form standing over them as she stared at each of them in turn.
"It was Hulk proof. But she isn't the Hulk." Bruce said, as (Y/n) began to stalk around the four prone men.
"Ok, Groucho, Chico, Harpo, and Zeppo. Which one of you clowns is gonna tell me where I am. And how the hell did I do that?" (Y/n) demanded to know, as she looked at the hole in the wall. The Sargent crossing her arms, as she waited for a relevant answer.
"Sargent (Y/l/n)........(Y/n). You are at the headquarters of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. While you were helping in New York, you were hit by a powerful energy blast that has resulted in changes in your physiology. Changes which apparently mean that you can do things like that." Fury said, as he got to his feet. Shaking the shards of glass from his coat.
"What the hell do you mean, changes in my physiology? Look pal. You either start telling me something that makes complete sense, or I promise you that that little hole will only be the start of the damage I do to this place." (Y/n) told the gathered men, before a high pitched scream emanated from her, as she once again dropped to her knees. The door to the room rattling violently as agents attempted to gain access.
"Quick stop them. Don't let them in." Bruce called out, as he fell by (Y/n)'s side, trying his best to check her pain wrecked body.
"(Y/n). My name is Doctor Bruce Banner. I know that it hurts, but I need you to try and relax. I need to get you back to the bed. I need to find out what is happening to you. Steve. Help please." Bruce tried to explain, as Steve picked (Y/n) up. The super soldier gently placing her back on the bed.
>>-----------------------------<<
"Well? What the hell is going on doc?" (Y/n) asked, as Bruce finished studying the new data. The doctor not sure how best to explain the findings.
"It would appear that every time you have one of these "attacks" your body is actually adapting to a new power, a new ability. The first time, when you woke up, was your mind probably adapting to the increase in gamma brainwaves and your synapses adjusting to the super strength that you exhibited." Bruce began, as he once again swiped through the data.
"The last attack appears to have given you the ability to heal almost instantaneously. So, any cut, wound, broken bone, will heal as quickly as it happened." Bruce continued, as he sat on the bed by (Y/n)'s side.
"So, how many more of these attacks am I going to have? What did they want to do to me?" (Y/n) asked in disbelief, as she looked forlornly at Bruce.
"I'm sorry, (Y/n). I can't tell you how many more times this will happen, or what Loki's motives were. But I assure you, you are in the best place. We are going to all we can to help." Bruce tried to reassure; not sure what else he could say.
>>---------------------------<<
Thor watched over the monitors, as Bruce spoke to the woman in the bed. He had tried to talk to Loki, tried to discover what his brother was up to, but all the God of Mischief had done was smile, and inform him that the world's greatest heroes now had so much more to worry about than just him.
"My brother would tell me nothing, although he did appear to be as curious about the lady as we are. He told me that he wished to see her, that then and only then would he explain what we could expect." Thor began, as he continued to watch the exchange between Bruce and the lady.
"You of course told him to go and screw himself." Clint hissed angrily. The thought of having Loki back on Earth, the thought of giving the god another opportunity to attack. Of giving him another chance to control his mind, being beyond comprehension to the irate archer.
"I did inform my brother that he would not be allowed to see the lady, yes. Yet I have a terrible feeling that in the end Loki will have his way. I can only imagine what he knows. Only imagine what is to happen to this woman." Thor continued, as he tuned his attention from the screen to the other Avengers in the room.
"Loki knows far more than he is willing to tell. My brother always does. We may have defeated him, but that does not mean that he does not have other ways of wreaking havoc on this world. I am afraid to say it, but maybe this lady is his latest weapon." Thor informed the others, before yet another ear splitting scream split the air.
>>----------------------------<<
"BRUCE!" (Y/n) screamed out, as the sky outside lit up. Thunder and lightening splitting the suddenly dark sky as Mjolnir appeared without warning and landed in (Y/n)'s hand. Thor and the others following quickly behind, stopping and staring in disbelief. The once innocent bystander now effortlessly wielding the mighty hammer as sparks of electricity crackled around her.
