"Hell no. You don't get to just barge back into my life and tell me who I can and can't date."

"Well, then you must have lost your fucking mind, in the time that I was gone, if you think I'm just gonna do nothing about that."

"Do nothing about me dating? Who are you, Rowan Hughes?" I questioned, turning to walk away from him. I was sick of talking to him and going in circles. "You're actually a child."

"No, I'm a grown ass man, Iza. I just don't like the idea of other boys touching you."

"Fuck you and your ideas." I turned, narrowing my eyes at him and flicking him off with both hands. "I wish I could shove them down your throat, so you can taste the bullshit in them."

"There's something I wish I could shove down your throat, too, but I respect you."

Eleven years of friendship. Four years of silence.

Wren Adams vanished without a word, leaving Isabella Hughes furious, heartbroken, and so done. Or so she thought. Now he's back and more cocky, than ever. Reckless, with tattoos, maddeningly gorgeous...and worse?

He thinks she's his to screw with.

Their fights are louder, the tension's thicker, but there's a single secret that's darker and has everything to do with Wren's disappearance. They're ex-best friends, unknowingly carrying a secret so heavy it holds the unforeseen state of their friendship in its vice grip.

But will they let it destroy them, or make them stronger, than before?

I feel the breath of air on the back of my neck. My limbs freeze and my breath catches in my throat. The male hands grab me by the hips. I can't move. His lips are by my ear, grazing the skin, his teeth tugging on my earlobe. His breath is hot on my skin, his lips moving down to my neck. My head tilts slightly. I shake my head. He doesn't have a weapon, I do. I turn in his grip, raising my bat. He catches the swing with one hand. He doesn't even flinch. "I wouldn't do that baby." His voice is like velvet, filling up the room. His lips are back on my neck, his tongue trails over the skin. The voice, the lips, are familiar. "You might mess up my pretty face." "Pretty face, my ass." I let the bat drop to the floor in-between the two of us. I should've known. "What are you doing here?" "Besides scaring you shitless?" "You didn't-" "Don't lie, I saw what you did to those poor hangers." *** It's a game of cat and dog. A game that's lasted four years. A game that expires in three short months. It's a battle of wits, of sarcasm, of teasing one liners, of sloppy kisses that may lead to more but nothing passed physical. It's a game with no rules. And they seem to be breaking them all. Thea Shaw and Ethan Michaels have a complicated relationship. One that neither wants to come to an end. But with college nearing and feelings developing what will come of their little game? He promises her one last summer of underage fun; parties, sunsets, long talks, sweet kisses, and no talk of college until it's time to leave. There are only two ways this summer can end. Either in each other's arms or the breaking of their hearts. #4 in New Adult [COMPLETED]

When love hurts you when there is betrayal and revenge, The heart, once tender, now bleeds with bitter ache, Yet through the storm of sorrow, strength you shall find, And from the ashes of pain, your spirit will rise anew. --------------- He held my hand gently, his touch was so gentle and firm. His other hand snaked around my waist, in a slow, torturous, yet blissful movement, and he swirled me in a graceful dance motion. The room spun around me, but then he let go, and I stumbled, my balance lost. In an instant, he yanked me back towards him, and I bumped hard into his chest, the impact taking my breath away. As I looked down, trying to steady myself, he lifted my chin with his two fingers, making me look into his eyes. The back of his fingers trailed from my neck to my cheek, turning my legs to nothing but a jelly. His gaze was so intense, and instantly the gentle emotions were gone, replaced by his standard emotion, rage. His eyes blazed with an almost frightening intensity. He swirled me harshly again, the movement abrupt and forceful. Then, he bent me backward on his arm, my body arching under his control. He drew his face closer until I could feel his warm breath against my skin. We were so close that I could see the fine lines around his eyes, the slight stubble on his jaw. A soft pink color of his lips were adding a touch of warmth to his face. His eyes bore into mine with deep intensity. Just when I thought he might kiss me, his expressions became colder and he made me stand upright, leaving me disoriented and confused. I was looking at him and he was looking straight ahead.

Keep Your Enemies Closer

44 parts Complete Mature

*COMPLETED* "You think I'd murder you?" He laughed humorlessly. "I- what?" I stuttered, looking at him with a lost expression. If he didn't want to kill me, what was all of this then? "What's your name, speedy?" He asked after shaking his head. "Why would I-I tell you my name?" I tried to sound brave, but this whole scenario was just freaking me out. "I'll find out, eh?" He gave me a smirk. What? "For what? You can just kill me now. I don't want to live like this anymore." I breathed out. I really don't. His loud and obnoxious laugh pulled me out of my thoughts. What's so funny? "You're funny. But-" He took a step closer and I immediately stepped backwards. "-the stunt you pulled last week-" My back hit the wall and I gasped as he stood only a few inches away from me now. His finger lifted my chin and I gulped. "-was not." His smirk was replaced by a serious expression. His eyes were so dark and captivating, I couldn't look away. "And you know what they say, speedy?" He continued as his eyes flickered towards my mouth. I shook my head and his smirk was back. "Keep your friends close. But-" He clenched his jaw. "Keep your enemies closer."
