We all know what happened to Varian in the first season of "Tangled: The Series." He became the villain, was defeated by Rapunzel, and thrown into prison for a whole year. Yes, he redeemed himself and returned for the third season, but the lack of his presence was felt by fans everywhere throughout the entire second season of the show. So what would have happened if he had redeemed himself sooner and been there for the gang's life-changing journey throughout the second season? How would he have reacted to all those adventures he missed? Find out in this AU fanfic! You will see how he deals with his still-suspicious friends, his unrequited crush on Cassandra, and his search for a way to free his father. "Next stop, anywhere!" (Note: All rights go to Disney. (This is my own spin off of the Tangled series and has no connection to any plot points. I know I used Moon!Varian as the cover but neither the moonstone or sunflower are involved in this.) (The romance is a slow burn) Alchemy was not widely known or explored throughout Corona. To my knowledge, only one person was skilled in it. Their name was Varian and it was my job to track him down. I had a job position for him if he was willing to come along.

Just about 1 year after his fall and arrest, Varian alone in the darkness of his cell, longs for one thing. Meanwhile Cassandra's now endless power rises up, as she swears revenge on Rapunzel for what happened so long ago. Note: This is based off Tangled the Series which if you don't watch it you will be very confused. Sorry this thing isn't very good, it's my first fanfic. The series finale just hit its fifth anniversary, and as I was thinking about it I remembered this fanfic existed. ...this is certainly a piece of work, lmao. Between the writing style being very reflective of my age to the self-deprecating comments I wrote about my own writing to the stolen cover art (my sincerest apologies for that, I am going to change it but the original is by @codynaomiswireart on tumblr) it is beyond me what was going through my head when I wrote it. It is for that reason I found myself shocked to see it with thousands of reads and comments, which thank you for by the way, I did not realize there was this much demand for moon Varian lol. For now I intend on leaving it up solely because it is hilarious to me and a good reflection on what was at the time a very important show to me. In the present, a lot of my love for the series has been somewhat diminished, due to many factors. But I won't deny what it did for me then, as I have moved onto, what I am hopeful to view as far greater artistic pursuits lol. Vigor the Visionary monkey (Demanitus) witnessed Rapunzel with the Moonstone thru the crystal ball. Zhan Tiri was imprisoned by the Demanitus' portal to The Lost Realm. And Varian was cursed by Zhan Tiri since he was four or five years old. What would happened if Vigor the Visionary monkey (Demanitus) meets the heroes in the caravan before The Spire? Will Varian be free from the curse of Zhan Tiri? What will Eugene choose thru-out the adventure? His young brother, Varian the alchemist? Rapunzel along with Judy return to the kingdom of Corona, only to find it is taken by a old enemy. Now Rapunzel have to use her inner strength to save Corona and Judy have to get the alchemist of her dreams back to her.

Cassandra is Rapunzel's lady-in-waiting and personal guard at the same time. The princess was meant to marry the crowned prince of the Dark Kingdom, Varian. Everyone in Corona knows how much the Princess loves her boyfriend, Eugene - even her parents knew of this but a deal is a deal. A war might start if it weren't fulfilled. Rapunzel was sent a month early to the particular kingdom with her lady-in-waiting by her side. Rapunzel wanted to spend the time she have left with Eugene so the ladies did something reckless. They switched. For a month, Cassandra would act as a princess while Rapunzel as a lady-in-waiting so she could sneak out to meet Eugene. They were going to reveal the truth after a month. It was all part of the plan. What if things don't go the way they expected it? It was supposed to be just a month and all pretend to Cassandra, but as days passed by, why is it that she could never get the prince out of her mind? It's a Once Upon A Switch love story.

Varian (Tangled x OC) *Could easily also be read as a x reader story. Before I tell this story, I might as well preface by saying it's likely that you're more familiar with my older sister, Rapunzel. I'm sure you know the story, princess of Corona, and her incredibly long magical hair with legendary healing powers, stolen away from her family by the villainous mother Gothel and kept locked in a tower far from home. All of Corona for many years grieved over Rapunzel's abduction, and as far as the kingdom knew, the only heir to the throne was gone forever, never to return, leaving no one to proceed their rulers.
